Johannes Hoornbeeck 1617–1666, On the Conversion of Indians and Heathens An Annotated Translation of De Conversione Ind
Free Download Ineke Loots, "Johannes Hoornbeeck 1617-1666, On the Conversion of Indians and Heathens: An Annotated Translation of De Conversione Ind"
English | ISBN: 9004255443 | 2018 | 453 pages | PDF | 3 MB
Exploration, trade and conquest expanded and upset traditional worldviews of early modern Europeans. Christians saw themselves confronted with a largely heathen world. In the wake of Iberian colonization, Jesuits successfully christianized heathen populations overseas. In his De conversione Indorum et gentilium, Johannes Hoornbeeck presents a systematic overview of every aspect of the missionary imperative from a Reformed Protestant perspective. The most attractive part of his book may be the global survey it offers of the various types of heathens, an early example of comparative religion. Of equal interest, however, is his critical approach to mission. Hoornbeeck rejects ecclesiastical hierarchy and top-down imposition of Christianity. In this he is perfectly orthodox, and at the same time startlingly original and a harbinger of modern missions. His practical recommendations offer a flexible framework for missionaries, to fit a wide variety of circumstances.

Covenant and the Jewish Conversion Question Extending the Thought of Rabbi Joseph B. Soloveitchik
Free Download Benji Levy, "Covenant and the Jewish Conversion Question: Extending the Thought of Rabbi Joseph B. Soloveitchik "
English | ISBN: 3030801446 | 2021 | 303 pages | PDF | 3 MB
Covenant and the Jewish Conversion Question reevaluates conversion and Jewish identity through the lens of Rabbi Joseph B. Soloveitchik's dual conception of the Covenants of Fate and Destiny. By studying an array of key rabbinic texts through this lens, the book explores the boundaries and interplay between these biblical covenants through apostasy, holiness and the key elements relating to conversion law. This understanding provides a relevant framing device to deal with the conversion and Jewish identity crises faced in the State of Israel and beyond.

Pentecostalism and Politics of Conversion in India
Free Download Sarbeswar Sahoo, "Pentecostalism and Politics of Conversion in India"
English | ISBN: 1108416128 | 2018 | 220 pages | PDF | 2 MB
This book studies the politics of Pentecostal conversion and anti-Christian violence in India. It asks: why has India been experiencing increasing incidents of anti-Christian violence since the 1990s? Why are the Bhil Adivasis increasingly converting to Pentecostalism? And, what are the implications of conversion for religion within indigenous communities on the one hand and broader issues of secularism, religious freedom and democratic rights on the other? Drawing on extended ethnographic fieldwork amongst the Bhils of Northern India since 2006, this book asserts that ideological incompatibility and antagonism between Christian missionaries and Hindu nationalists provide only a partial explanation for anti-Christian violence in India. It unravels the complex interactions between different actors/ agents in the production of anti-Christian violence and provides detailed ethnographic narratives on Pentecostal conversion, Hindu nationalist politics and anti-Christian violence in the largest state of India that has hitherto been dominated by upper caste Rajput Hindu(tva) ideology.

Conversion of Water and CO2 to Fuels using Solar Energy
Free Download Conversion of Water and CO2 to Fuels using Solar Energy: Science, Technology and Materials
English | 2024 | ISBN: 1119600847 | 416 Pages | PDF, EPUB (True) | 83 MB
Fossil fuel burning is the primary source of carbon in the atmosphere. The realization that such burning can harm the life on our planet, has led to a surge in research activities that focus on the development of alternative strategies for energy conversion. Fuel generation using solar energy is one of the most promising approaches that has received widespread attention. The fuels produced using sunlight are commonly referred to as "solar fuels." This book provides researchers interested in solar fuel generation a comprehensive understanding of the emerging solar technologies for hydrogen generation via water splitting and carbon-based fuel production via CO2 recycling.
