Transforming Agriculture and Foodways The Digital–Molecular Convergence
Free Download David Goodman, "Transforming Agriculture and Foodways: The Digital-Molecular Convergence "
English | ISBN: 1529231469 | 2023 | 164 pages | PDF | 4 MB
A wave of innovation driven by the convergence of digital and molecular technologies is transforming food production and ways of eating in the US, Western Europe and Australasia. This book explores a range of contemporary agri-food issues, such as the digitalisation of farm production, aka Precision Agriculture, farmer independence, gene editing, alternative proteins and the rise of app-based home food deliveries. This is the first book to provide a systemic analysis of technological innovation and its socio-economic consequences in modern food systems, including the 'hollowing out' of rural communities and pronounced industrial concentration. The food system is under growing public pressure to respond to global climate change, but this book finds little evidence of transition to sustainable low-carbon trajectories.

PET Chemistry The Driving Force in Molecular Imaging
Free Download P.A. Schubiger, L. Lehmann, M. Friebe, "PET Chemistry: The Driving Force in Molecular Imaging"
English | 2007 | pages: 348 | ISBN: 3642421644, 3540326235 | PDF | 6,2 mb
Personalized medicine employing patient-based tailor-made therapeutic drugs is taking over treatment paradigms in a variety of ?elds in oncology and the central nervous system. The success of such therapies is mainly dependent on ef?cacious therapeutic drugs and a selective imaging probe for identi?cation of potential responders as well as therapy monitoring for an early bene?t assessment. Molecular imaging (MI) is based on the selective and speci?c interaction of a molecular probe with a biological target which is visualized through nuclear, magnetic resonance, near infrared or other methods. Therefore it is the method of choice for patient selection and therapy monitoring as well as for speci?c e- point monitoring in modern drug development. PET (positron emitting tomography), a nuclear medical imaging modality, is ideally suited to produce three-dimensional images of various targets or processes. The rapidly increasing demand for highly selective probes for MI strongly pushes the development of new PET tracers and PET chemistry. 'PET chemistry' can be de?ned as the study of positron-emitting compounds regarding their synthesis, structure, composition, reactivity, nuclear properties and processes and their properties in natural and - natural environments. In practice PET chemistry is strongly in?uenced by the unique properties of the radioisotopes used (e. g. , half-life, che- cal reactivity, etc. ) and integrates scienti?c aspects of nuclear-, organic-, inorganic- and biochemistry.

Molecular and Cellular Enzymology (2024)
Free Download G. Hervé, "Molecular and Cellular Enzymology"
English | 2010 | pages: 809 | ISBN: 3662519011, 3642012272 | PDF | 49,3 mb
Molecular and Cellular Enzymology addresses not only experienced enzymologists but also students, teachers and academic and industrial researchers who are confronted with enzymological problems during their fundamental or applied research. In this field there is an urgent need for training in order to meet the requirements of both research and industrial endeavours. This book consists of several levels. Practical aspects and elementary explanations are given for the benefit of non-specialists' and students' understanding. In order to facilitate the task of students, two typographies have been adopted. The main text corresponds to basic knowledge, whereas text in a smaller font provides more specialised information. Specialists will also find topics more deeply expounded with the principal bibliographic references cited. The bibliography, however, is not exhaustive; the choice includes general books and review articles as well as some specialised articles. In this book, for the first time, the different molecular and cellular aspects of enzymology are presented together. Until now, there has been no book available in which these different aspects are treated in the same volume. In addition, besides the theoretical developments, this book provides a wealth of practical information for experimentalists.

Molecular Imaging I (2024)
Free Download Wolfhard Semmler, Markus Schwaiger, "Molecular Imaging I"
English | 2008 | pages: 298 | ISBN: 3540727175, 3642091822 | PDF | 5,8 mb
The aim of this textbook of molecular imaging is to provide an up to date review of this rapidly growing field and to discuss basic methodological aspects necessary for the interpretation of experimental and clinical results. Emphasis is placed on the interplay of imaging technology and probe development, since the physical properties of the imaging approach need to be closely linked with the biologic application of the probe (i.e. nanoparticles and microbubbles). Various chemical strategies are discussed and related to the biologic applications. Reporter-gene imaging is being addressed not only in experimental protocols, but also first clinical applications are discussed. Finally, strategies of imaging to characterize apoptosis and angiogenesis are described and discussed in the context of possible clinical translation.

Guidelines for Molecular Analysis in Archive Tissues (2024)
Free Download Giorgio Stanta, "Guidelines for Molecular Analysis in Archive Tissues"
English | 2011 | pages: 301 | ISBN: 3642178898, 3662519844 | PDF | 7,7 mb
A huge amount of fixed and paraffin-embedded tissue is stored in every hospital. This is very precious material that can be used for translational research and for diagnostics. The molecular methods employed for analysis of these tissues are similar to the usual molecular biology and proteomics methods, but reliable results can be obtained only if specific steps are followed with great care. This book provides detailed and precise guidelines for molecular analysis of archive tissues and will serve as an invaluable aid for researchers and pathologists involved in translational research and diagnostics. Clear notes and explanations are included to simplify use of the protocols for the less experienced. The authors are a group of acknowledged experts who have developed the described methods and validated them within the European project "Archive Tissues: Improving Molecular Medicine Research and Clinical Practice - IMPACTS", which has involved 21 leading institutions in 11 countries.
