Notan The Dark–Light Principle of Design
Free Download Marlys Mayfield, "Notan: The Dark-Light Principle of Design"
English | 1991 | ISBN: 048626856X | EPUB | pages: 80 | 7.4 mb
As a guiding principle of Eastern art and design, Notan (a Japanese word meaning dark-light) focuses on the interaction between positive and negative space, a relationship embodied in the ancient symbolism of the Yang and the Yin. In composition, it recognizes the separate but equally important identity of both a shape and its background.

Principle of Criminal Imputation for Negligence Crime Involving Artificial Intelligence
Free Download Principle of Criminal Imputation for Negligence Crime Involving Artificial Intelligence
English | 2024 | ISBN: 9819707218 | 124 Pages | PDF EPUB (True) | 1.5 MB
This book provides an in-depth discussion of the theoretical and practical issues of criminal imputation for negligence crime involving artificial intelligence. Accordingly, this study combines the imputation challenges brought about by AI with traditional criminal imputation theory and analyses imputation for negligence crime involving AI from three aspects: the basic principles, structure, and results of imputation for negligence crime involving AI. The traditional theory of imputation is discussed in detail. The readership is a group of people interested in this topic, including, in particular, interested laymen, undergraduate students and postgraduate researchers. The highlights of this book are it identifies the imputation challenges bought about by AI, reveals the theoretical and practical gap in the criminal imputation of negligent crimes involving AI, and provides an in-depth and creative ideas of criminal imputation for the negligent crimes involving AI.

Precautionary Principle, Pluralism and Deliberation Science and Ethics
Free Download Bernard Reber, "Precautionary Principle, Pluralism and Deliberation: Science and Ethics"
English | 2016 | pages: 298 | ISBN: 1786301008 | EPUB | 0,7 mb
This volume tackles the burden of judgment and the challenges of ethical disagreements, organizes the cohabitation of scientific and ethical argumentations in such a way they find their appropriate place in the political decision. It imagines several forms of agreements and open ways of conflicts resolution very different compared with ones of the majority of political philosophers and political scientists that are macro-social and general. It offers an original contribution to a scrutinized interpretation of the precautionary principle, as structuring the decision in interdisciplinary contexts, to make sure to arrive this time to the "Best of the Worlds".

The Recognition Principle a Philosophical Perspective Between Psychology, Sociology and Politics
Free Download Vinicio Busacchi, "The Recognition Principle: a Philosophical Perspective Between Psychology, Sociology and Politics"
English | ISBN: 1443872768 | 2015 | 97 pages | PDF | 551 KB
This book responds to the need for a clearer understanding of issues related to the theme of recognition in the various disciplinary fields in which it plays an important role, such as psychology, sociology and politics. The book also considers in particular detail the usefulness of a theoretical-speculative definition of the question of recognition. It also shows that no philosophy of recognition can be solidly built, or claim epistemic strength and practical-operational forcefulness, without a certain degree of psychological and anthropological excavation, without a specific 'discourse on man'. Through an engagement with such a discourse, this book is able to explore the concept of recognition as a general principle, namely the recognition principle.

The Idiom Principle and L1 Influence
Free Download Ying Wang, "The Idiom Principle and L1 Influence"
English | 2016 | ISBN: 9027210748 | PDF | pages: 264 | 3.1 mb
This book examines delexical verb + noun collocations such as make a decision, give rise to and take care of in Swedish and Chinese learner English. Using a methodological framework that combines learner corpus research with a contrastive perspective, the study is one of the very few in the field to incorporate corpora of the learner's L1 to investigate the effects of L1 influence. The book provides a highly detailed and multi-faceted analysis of delexical verb + noun collocations in terms of frequency of occurrence, lexical preferences and morphosyntactic patterns. Quantitative and qualitative results on overuse, underuse and errors are presented with linguistically and pedagogically relevant interpretations that include cultural and discourse aspects. More importantly, the book throws light on how L2 learners may alternate between the open-choice principle and the idiom principle as well as the extent and nature of L1 influence on their collocational use.

Introduction to the h–Principle, 2nd edition
Free Download K. Cieliebak, Y. Eliashberg, N. Mishachev, "Introduction to the h-Principle, 2nd edition"
English | ISBN: 1470476177 | 2024 | 363 pages | PDF | 5 MB
In differential geometry and topology one often deals with systems of partial differential equations as well as partial differential inequalities that have infinitely many solutions whatever boundary conditions are imposed. It was discovered in the 1950s that the solvability of differential relations (i.e., equations and inequalities) of this kind can often be reduced to a problem of a purely homotopy-theoretic nature. One says in this case that the corresponding differential relation satisfies the $h$-principle. Two famous examples of the $h$-principle, the Nash-Kuiper $C^1$-isometric embedding theory in Riemannian geometry and the Smale-Hirsch immersion theory in differential topology, were later transformed by Gromov into powerful general methods for establishing the $h$-principle. The authors cover two main methods for proving the $h$-principle: holonomic approximation and convex integration. The reader will find that, with a few notable exceptions, most instances of the $h$-principle can be treated by the methods considered here. A special emphasis is made on applications to symplectic and contact geometry. The present book is the first broadly accessible exposition of the theory and its applications, making it an excellent text for a graduate course on geometric methods for solving partial differential equations and inequalities. Geometers, topologists, and analysts will also find much value in this very readable exposition of an important and remarkable topic. This second edition of the book is significantly revised and expanded to almost twice of the original size. The most significant addition to the original book is the new part devoted to the method of wrinkling and its applications. Several other chapters (e.g., on multivalued holonomic approximation and foliations) are either added or completely rewritten.
