Twenty–First Century Fictions of Terrorism
Free Download Arin Keeble, "Twenty-First Century Fictions of Terrorism"
English | ISBN: 1474478670 | 2024 | 312 pages | PDF | 16 MB
Examining novels by celebrated authors, some neglected and some brand new texts, Arin Keeble offers a detailed analysis of the ways novels from around the world have represented terrorism in the early twenty-first century. Over five chapters, he uncovers a movement away from event-based narratives toward depictions of terrorism as a violent symptom or feature of twenty-first century world-systems and neoliberalism. Beginning with the early literary response to 9/11 and the 9/11 novel genre, the book moves through more recent depictions of the endless 'war on terror', state terror, white nationalist terror and historical narratives of terror that resonate in the current political climate. In doing so, it examines the changing ways literature has sought to make sense of both the reasons why terrorism occurs and the effects it has on victims, survivors and international and intercultural relations.

Re–Visioning Terrorism A Humanistic Perspective
Free Download Elena Coda, "Re-Visioning Terrorism: A Humanistic Perspective"
English | ISBN: 155753733X | 2016 | 340 pages | EPUB | 638 KB
Re-Visioning Terrorism: A Humanistic Perspective is an interdisciplinary collection of essays that aims to offer a plurality of visions on terrorism, expanding its meaning across time and space and raising new questions that explore its multifaceted occurrences. The different ideological, philosophical, and cultural perspectives emerging from the essays and the variety of humanistic disciplines involved intend to provide a complex and even contradictory picture that emphasizes the fact that there cannot be a univocal conception and response to terrorism, in either the practical or the intellectual domain. The editors borrow the concept of rack focus response from cinema to create an innovative and flexible interpretative approach to terrorism. Rack focus refers to the change of focus of a lens so that one image can come into focus while another moves out of focus. Though the focal distance changes, the reality has not changed. Both items and events coexist, but given the nature of optics we can only see clearly one or the other. This occurs not just with lenses, but also with human perceptions, be they emotional or intellectual. The rack focus response requires that we try to shift focus from the depth of field that is absolutely clear and familiar to the "other" that is unclear and unfamiliar. This exercise will lead us to reflect on terroristic events in a more nuanced, nondogmatic, and flexible manner. The essays featured in this volume range from philosophical interpretations of terrorism, to historical analysis of terror through the ages, to cinematic, artistic, and narrative representations of terroristic events that are not limited to 9/11.

Terrorism The Ritual of the Devil
Free Download HarunYahya, "Terrorism: The Ritual of the Devil"
English | 2003 | pages: 154 | ISBN: 8172314353 | PDF | 4,8 mb
Throughout their entire lives, everyone is at war with an enemy, the extent of whose strength and influence they perhaps fail to fully comprehend. Those who are constantly in conflict with others, who always believe that violence is the answer, who take pleasure in brutality, murder chaos and anarchy, in short, those who harm the peace and security of the world, have lost the war against this foe, whether they realize it or not, and have fallen under his control . This most dangerous enemy is the Devil, described to us in all aspects of God in the Qur'an.

Taming Terrorism. It's Been Done Before
Free Download Taming Terrorism. It's Been Done Before By Anna Reid (ed.)
2005 | 122 Pages | ISBN: 0954752759 | PDF | 2 MB
Taming Terrorism: It's Been Done Before is the second in a series ofPolicy Exchange publications that seek to draw from past experiencein deciding how best to tackle foreign policy challenges today. Thefirst - Regime Change - looked at state-building efforts abroad, frompost-war Germany to contemporary Afghanistan. Taming Terrorismdoes the same with terrorist movements, from the Boxer Rebellionof 1899-1901 to Japan's Aum Shinriykõ and Greece's November 17thin the 1990s. Part of its point is to demonstrate that despite the hypetoday's struggle is not an unprecedented one, and in fact has muchin common with episodes in the not so distant past. We've beatenterrorism before, and we can do it again. As case studies, we picked groups which, like the Islamicradicals, were primarily driven by ideology rather than by concretepolitical demands, and whose aims were so extreme and/oreccentric as to preclude all possibility of rational negotiation.Hence separatists - such as the IRA, ETA and PKK - are excluded, as are single-issue groups such as anti-abortionists and anti-vivsectionists.
