Ecologics Wind and Power in the Anthropocene
Free Download Cymene Howe, "Ecologics: Wind and Power in the Anthropocene"
English | ISBN: 1478003855 | 2019 | 272 pages | PDF | 14 MB
Between 2009 and 2013 Cymene Howe and Dominic Boyer conducted fieldwork in Mexico's Isthmus of Tehuantepec to examine the political, social, and ecological dimensions of moving from fossil fuels to wind power. Their work manifested itself as a new ethnographic form: the duograph-a combination of two single-authored books that draw on shared fieldsites, archives, and encounters that can be productively read together, yet can also stand alone in their analytic ambitions.

Ecological Restoration and the U.S. Nature and Environmental Writing Tradition A Rewilding of American Letters
Free Download Laura Smith, "Ecological Restoration and the U.S. Nature and Environmental Writing Tradition: A Rewilding of American Letters"
English | ISBN: 3030861473 | 2022 | 373 pages | PDF | 8 MB
This book presents a critical history of the intersections between American environmental literature and ecological restoration policy and practice. Through a storying―restorying―restoring framework, this book explores how entanglements between writers and places have produced literary interventions in restoration politics. The book considers the ways literary landscapes are politicized by writers themselves, and by conservationists, activists, policymakers, and others, in defense of U.S. public lands and the idea of wilderness. The book profiles five environmental writers and examines how their writings on nature, wildness, wilderness, conservation, preservation, and restoration have variously inspired and been translated into ecological restoration programs and campaigns by environmental organizations. The featured authors are Henry David Thoreau (1817-1862) at Walden Pond, John Muir (1838-1914) in Yosemite National Park, Aldo Leopold (1887-1948) at his family's Wisconsin sand farm, Marjory Stoneman Douglas (1890-1998) in the Everglades, and Edward Abbey (1927-1989) in Glen Canyon. This book combines environmental history, literature, biography, philosophy, and politics in a commentary on considering (and developing) environmental literature's place in conversations on restoration ecology, ecological restoration, and rewilding.

Ecofeminism and Allied Issues
Free Download Dipanwita Pal, Prasun Banerjee, "Ecofeminism and Allied Issues"
English | ISBN: 1527566803 | 2024 | 170 pages | PDF | 1 MB
Ecofeminism is an emerging field of literary study which seeks to explore the interconnections between feminism and ecology, green studies and market economy, and globalization and the politics of care. It also examines the idea of nature as a mother figure, and the world being begotten by the celestial intercourse between Nature, the Mother and God, the Father. This branch of study is taking center stage in the realm of gender studies, but it is yet to develop into a full school of thought, as new dimensions are constantly being attached to it. This volume seeks to take a multi-disciplinary approach to address the issues most pertinent to ecofeminism, and to do so from various perspectives, so that any sort of hegemonic categorization may be avoided.

Eco–Welfare and the Energy Transition
Free Download Eco-Welfare and the Energy Transition: Themes and Debates for an Emerging Interplay
English | 2024 | ISBN: 3031550277 | 166 Pages | PDF EPUB (True) | 5 MB
This book provides a comprehensive overview of the emerging interplay that runs between energy - seen as a basic need and a providential material service from the viewpoint of welfare studies - and eco-welfare, seen as an emerging analytical and policy paradigm that hold together the social crisis on the one hand, and the ecological crisis, on the other hand. At a time of energy transition, the interplay between the theoretical framework of eco-welfare and the topic of energy supply is little explored, and therefore, this book fills a need in the literature by providing a comprehensive framework to navigate this emerging relationship. Such a framework is strengthened by insights on energy poverty and renewable energy communities, identified as cornerstones of the analysis between energy transition and eco-welfare.
