Deleuze and History
Free Download Deleuze and History By Jerrey A. Bell (ed.), Claire Colebrook (ed.)
2009 | 241 Pages | ISBN: 0748636080 | PDF | 2 MB
Despite the fact that time, evolution, becoming and genealogy are central concepts in Deleuze's work, there has been no sustained study of his philosophy in relation to the question of history. This book aims to open up Deleuze's relevance to those working in history, the history of ideas, science studies, evolutionary psychology, history of philosophy and interdisciplinary projects inflected by historical problems. The essays in this volume (all by internationally recognised Deleuze scholars) cover all aspects of Deleuze's philosophy and its relation to history, ranging from the application of Deleuze's philosophy to historical method, Deleuze's own use of the history of philosophy, his interpretations of other historical thinkers (such as Hume and Nietzsche) and the complex theories of time and evolution in his work.

Creators, Conquerors, and Citizens A History of Ancient Greece
Free Download Creators, Conquerors, and Citizens: A History of Ancient Greece by Robin Waterfield
English | March 6, 2020 | ISBN: 0190095768 | 544 pages | PDF | 18 Mb
"We Greeks are one in blood and one in language; we have temples to the gods and religious rites in common, and a common way of life." So the fifth-century historian Herodotus has some Athenians declare, in explanation of why they would never betray their fellow Greeks to the enemy, the "barbarian" Persians. And he might have added further common features, such as clothing, foodways, and political institutions. But if the Greeks knew that they were kin, why did many of them side with the Persians against fellow Greeks, and why, more generally, is ancient Greek history so often the history of internecine wars and other forms of competition with one another? This is the question acclaimed historian Robin Waterfield sets out to explore in this magisterial history of ancient Greece.

Cop Shows A Critical History of Police Dramas on Television
Free Download Roger Sabin, Ronald Wilson, "Cop Shows: A Critical History of Police Dramas on Television"
English | 2015 | ISBN: 0786448199 | PDF | pages: 229 | 66.1 mb
From cops who are paragons of virtue, to cops who are as bad as the bad guys...from surly loners, to upbeat partners...from detectives who pursue painstaking investigation, to loose cannons who just want to kick down the door, the heroes and anti-heroes of TV police dramas are part of who we are. They enter our living rooms and tell us tall tales about the social contract that exists between the citizen and the police. Love them or loathe them-according to the ratings, we love them-they serve a function. They've entertained, informed and sometimes infuriated audiences for more than 60 years.

Comparative Studies in Modern European History Nation, Nationalism, Social Change
Free Download Miroslav Hroch, "Comparative Studies in Modern European History: Nation, Nationalism, Social Change "
English | ISBN: 1138375179 | 2019 | 336 pages | EPUB | 753 KB
The two main themes of this selection of articles by Professor Hroch are the process of nation formation during the 19th century, especially in the case of 'smaller' European nations, i.e. those without statehood, and the social and political aspects of the transition from a pre-modern, feudal and traditional society to a modern capitalist one and the uneven pace of this change in the West and East of Europe. The author argues that we cannot study the process of nation-formation as a mere product of some nebulous 'nationalism'; we have to understand it as a part of social and cultural transformation, as a component of modernization of European societies, even though this modernization did not occur synchronically and had its regional specificities. Many of the papers focus specifically on the Czech case, but throughout there is an emphasis on comparative history.
