Hypoxia and Cancer Metastasis
Daniele M. Gilkes, "Hypoxia and Cancer Metastasis"
English | 2019 | ISBN: 3030127338 | PDF | pages: 160 | 4.7 mb
The present book is an attempt to provide a detailed review of studies that clarify our current understanding of the role of hypoxia in the progression of primary cancer to metastatic disease. It will enable researchers to discover the critical cellular changes that occur under hypoxic conditions and play a role in metastatic dissemination, from the activation of hypoxia-inducible factors, HIF-1 and HIF-2, to the transcriptional profile changes that occur in cancer cells and promote cancer cell survival under detrimental conditions.

Hyperconverged Infrastructure Data Centers Demystifying HCI
Sam Halabi, "Hyperconverged Infrastructure Data Centers: Demystifying HCI"
English | 2019 | ISBN: 1587145103 | PDF | pages: 733 | 42.1 mb
This book approaches the HCI topic from the point of view that any individual working this field needs to have enough knowledge in all the different areas such as storage, storage networking, compute, virtualization, switching and routing and automation. The book will explain each area in the context of a legacy data center design, detailing the problem statement for the particular technology and how HCI solves the problem and to what extent. Equipped with such knowledge the IT professional whether at a technical or management level will be well prepared to evaluate the need to move into the HCI and to find the best approach and timeline to move from a legacy data center design to an HCI design.

How our economy really works A Radical Reappraisal
How our economy really works: A Radical Reappraisal by Brian Hodgkinson
English | May 6th, 2020 | ISBN: 0856835293 | 112 pages | EPUB | 0.99 MB
These questions have confronted the UK economy for decades without resolution by governments of the right or left. It is the failure of economics, the author argues.Economists have long asserted that three factors of production, land, labour and capital, lie at the root of their subject. Yet in the development of the subject into theories and practical applications there has been a thorough analysis of labour and capital but a grievous omission of the factor of land.

Hometown Inequality Race, Class, and Representation in American Local Politics
Hometown Inequality: Race, Class, and Representation in American Local Politics by Brian F. Schaffner, Jesse H. Rhodes, Raymond J. La Raja
2020 | ISBN: 1108485944, 1108725376 | English | 272 pages | PDF | 6 MB
Local governments play a central role in American democracy, providing essential services such as policing, water, and sanitation. Moreover, Americans express great confidence in their municipal governments. But is this confidence warranted? Using big data and a representative sample of American communities, this book provides the first systematic examination of racial and class inequalities in local politics. We find that non-whites and less-affluent residents are consistent losers in local democracy. Residents of color and those with lower incomes receive less representation from local elected officials than do whites and the affluent. Additionally, they are much less likely than privileged community members to have their preferences reflected in local government policy. Contrary to the popular assumption that governments that are "closest" govern best, we find that inequalities in representation are most severe in suburbs and small towns. Typical reforms do not seem to improve the situation, and we recommend new approaches.

High Performance Multi-Channel High-Speed IO Circuits
Taehyoun Oh, Ramesh Harjani, "High Performance Multi-Channel High-Speed I/O Circuits"
English | 2013 | pages: 91 | ISBN: 1461449626 | PDF | 6,0 mb
This book describes design techniques that can be used to mitigate crosstalk in high-speed I/O circuits. The focus of the book is in developing compact and low power integrated circuits for crosstalk cancellation, inter-symbol interference (ISI) mitigation and improved bit error rates (BER) at higher speeds. This book is one of the first to discuss in detail the problem of crosstalk and ISI mitigation encountered as data rates have continued beyond 10Gb/s. Readers will learn to avoid the data performance cliff, with circuits and design techniques described for novel, low power crosstalk cancellation methods that are easily combined with current ISI mitigation architectures.
