Action Research Using Strategic Inquiry to Improve Teaching and Learning
S. Michael Putman, "Action Research: Using Strategic Inquiry to Improve Teaching and Learning"
English | ISBN: 1506307981 | 2017 | 288 pages | AZW3 | 9 MB
Action Research: Using Strategic Inquiry to Improve Teaching and Learning is a core text for the Action Research course in Education. The proposed text seeks to address the needs of practitioners as it will be primarily written for use within a graduate level action research class. It will be oriented towards proactive planning as part of an organized, efficient process for developing and conducting an action research study. The book will be organized around implementation of the action research process using self-regulatory principles, which is characterized by four phases: task definition, goal setting and planning, enacting, and adapting. These four phases will be addressed as the learner considers what action research encompasses and a topic to be studied, then proceeds to establish a plan and enact it. This overall process is organized as can be seen in the Table of Contents. Michael Putnam and Tracy Rock will highlight methods and processes that incorporate formative data that is readily available to teachers, facilitating associations between classroom instruction and the action research process. The text will also reinforce how action research can improve the teaching and learning process by reinforcing or changing perceptions about the use of informal data, including anecdotal notes or observations, in the research process.

A Republic of Righteousness The Public Christianity of the Post-Revolutionary New England Clergy
A Republic of Righteousness: The Public Christianity of the Post-Revolutionary New England Clergy By Jonathan D. Sassi
2001 | 309 Pages | ISBN: 019512989X | PDF | 4 MB
This book examines the debate over the connection between religion and public life in society during the fifty years following the American Revolution. Sassi challenges the conventional wisdom, finding an essential continuity to the period's public Christianity, whereas most previous studies have seen this period as one in which the nation's cultural paradigm shifted from republicanism to liberal individualism. Focusing on the Congregational clergy of New England, he demonstrates that throughout this period there were Americans concerned with their corporate destiny, retaining a commitment to constructing a righteous community and assessing the cosmic meaning of the American experiment.

Few histories of astronomy offer the special human dimension of this book. For the late Professor Pannekoek (University of Amsterdam), the history of astronomy consisted in the growth of man's concept of his world. The study of the cosmos became an essential part of the history of human culture, an adventure of the mind.

A Gendered Profession
James Benedict Brown, "A Gendered Profession"
English | ISBN: 1859469973 | 2017 | 256 pages | PDF | 8 MB
The issue of gender inequality in architecture has been part of the profession's discourse for many years, yet the continuing gender imbalance in architectural education and practice remains a difficult subject. This book seeks to change that. It provides the first ever attempt to move the debate about gender in architecture beyond the tradition of gender-segregated diagnostic or critical discourse on the debate towards something more propositional, actionable and transformative. To do this, A Gendered Profession brings together a comprehensive array of essays from a wide variety of experts in architectural education and practice, touching on issues such as LGBT, age, family status, and gender biased awards.
