Applied Mycology
Applied Mycology By Mahendra Rai, Paul Dennis Bridge
2009 | 333 Pages | ISBN: 1845935349 | PDF | 5 MB
The fungal kingdom consists of a wide variety of organisms with a diverse range of forms and functions. Fungi have been utilized for thousands of years and their importance in agriculture, medicine, food production and the environmental sciences is well known. New advances in genomic and metabolomic technologies have allowed further developments in the use of fungi in industry and medicine, increasing the need for a compilation of new applications, developments and technologies across the mycological field.Applied Mycology brings together a range of contributions, highlighting the diverse nature of current research. Chapters include discussions of fungal associations in the environment, agriculture and forestry, long established and novel applications of fungi in fermentation, the use of fungi in the pharmaceutical industry, the growing recognition of fungal infections, current interests in the use fungal enzymes in biotechnology and the new and emerging field of myconanotechnology. Anyone can Sketch - The 7 Magic Keys To Awesome Sketches: The Easiest Way To Exercise Your Brain, Eyes, And Fingers by Niraj Gupta
English | November 11, 2020 | ISBN: N/A | ASIN: B08P2C2SHG | 102 pages | PDF | 4.85 Mb
This book is aimed at all ages and levels of sketchers, beginners as well as those who already sketch. It aims to help one to learn the art and science, understand techniques and do sketching with pen, pencil, brush including plein-air 'on-location' in a structured 7-step process, using 7 magic keys, and ultimately, developing one's style and niche. To explain, it uses sketches from leading sketchers like Stephanie Bower, Ian Fennelly, John Edwards, and many others from India, and around the world, besides the author's. It will help one to join and get connected to the global sketching groups, as well as help define artistic goals and find one's direction towards them. It simplifies concepts like composition design, perspective, values, color theory, watercolor techniques, and many others in simple terms, besides explaining the importance of more complex terms like Fibonacci, Chiaroscuro, etc. COVID-19 has forced many of us to stay at home with restrictions on movement and living in limited spaces. It has created new problems including health related issues, due to lack of exercise, interaction, creative outlet, etc. Especially, seniors are at an increased risk. Among these problems, many are linked to a lack of mental activity, brain-eyes-fingers exercises, and coordination. Sketching can play a great role here to fill the void. It also works like meditation diverting our mind from daily worries and stay creative. It also helps us find new common activities with kids at home. This book will help you to leap into the world of sketching, and lay a strong foundation. It will give you the confidence to sketch and offer an opportunity to learn in a group, make buddies, and find future direction. Above all, it will allow you to stay fit through exercise for brain, eyes, and fingers, so important in current times.Chapters: Why I wrote this Book, Sketching, Materials, Composition, Perspective, Shapes & People, Light & Shadow , Colors Theory, Writing & Calligraphy, Developing Niche Style, 7 Magic Keys, and My Sketching Journey.About the Author: Niraj Gupta - an alumnus of the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi - was MD (South Asia), AT&T before taking up urban sketching. He attended one year of classes at the National Gallery of Modern Art, Delhi, and started to sketch with New York City chapter of Urban Sketchers (USk). He founded USk Delhi Chapter in Maay 2017. In 1999, he wrote a management textbook 'Business of Telecommunication' published by Tata McGraw-Hill. He is winner of the 2nd Prize in Winsor & Newton Challenge, Urban Sketchers Symposium, July 2019, Amsterdam, Netherlands. The book is supported by a Facebook group that readers are encouraged to join for interactive Q&A, feedback and updates.

Ants Their Structure, Development And Behavior
Ants: Their Structure, Development And Behavior By William Morton Wheeler
2009 | 704 Pages | ISBN: 1120156483 | PDF | 54 MB
I can not recommend any general text about ants as a substitute for Wheeler's 1910 classic "Ants - Their structure, development and behavior." True, there are Wilson's "Social Insects" and Hölldobler and Wilson's "Ants," but Wheeler is still the classic in English. The original 1910 volume was reprinted in 1926 and 1960. Luckily for us, The Biodiversity Heritage Library has permission from Columbia University Press to distribute a free electronic copy on the internet. Other mrymecological works, in fact most, by Wheeler are available from antbase. Get yourself a hand lens and a pair of forceps. Ants are where it's at.

Analytical Dynamics A New Approach
Analytical Dynamics: A New Approach By Firdaus E. Udwadia, Robert E. Kalaba
1996 | 269 Pages | ISBN: 0521482178 | DJVU | 4 MB
This book offers a fresh, readable approach to the analysis of mechanical systems. It is written as an introduction to analytical dynamics, with an emphasis on fundamental concepts in mechanics. The book begins with a description of the motion of a particle subjected to constraints, and presents explicit equations of motion that govern large classes of constrained mechanical systems with refreshingly simple results. The authors provide examples throughout the book, as well as carefully formulated end-of-chapter problems that reinforce the material covered.

An Introduction To Biocomposites
An Introduction To Biocomposites By Seeram Ramakrishna, Zheng Ming Huang, Ganesh V. Kumar, Andrew W. Batchelor, Joerg Mayer
2004 | 234 Pages | ISBN: 1860944256 | PDF | 3 MB
Many years of cumulative research has been conducted on the usage of fiber-reinforced composites for biomedical application, but no one source exists where this topic is dealt with systematically. This book addresses polymer composites applied to bioengineering in a comprehensive manner. For potential applications to be successful, full advantage must be taken of the materials properties and the manufacturing techniques to meet the needs of biomedical application. This book focuses on fiber-based composites applied to bioengineering. It addresses three main areas. First, it presents a comprehensive survey of biocomposites from the existing literature in various medical applications, paying particular attention to hard-tissue-related implants. Second, mechanical designs and manufacturing aspects of various fibrous polymer matrix composites are described. The third area concerns examples of the design and development of several medical devices and implants using polymer composites.
