Signals and Systems A One Semester Modular Course
English | 2021 | ISBN: 1636391036 | 411 pages | True PDF | 6.9 MB
This book is designed for use as a textbook for a one semester Signals and Systems class. It is sufficiently user friendly to be used for self study as well. It begins with a gentle introduction to the idea of abstraction by looking at numbers--the one highly abstract concept we use all the time. It then introduces some special functions that are useful for analyzing signals and systems. It then spends some time discussing some of the properties of systems; the goal being to introduce the idea of a linear time-invariant system which is the focus of the rest of the book. Fourier series, discrete and continuous time Fourier transforms are introduced as tools for the analysis of signals. The concepts of sampling and modulation which are very much a part of everyday life are discussed as applications of the these tools. Laplace transform and Z transform are then introduced as tools to analyze systems. The notions of stability of systems and feedback are analyzed using these tools.
The book is divided into thirty bite-sized modules. Each module also links up with a video lecture through a QR code in each module. The video lectures are approximately thirty minutes long. There are a set of self study questions at the end of each module along with answers to help the reader reinforce the concepts in the module.

Self Aware Security for Real Time Task Schedules in Reconfigurable Hardware Platforms
Self Aware Security for Real Time Task Schedules in Reconfigurable Hardware Platforms
English | 2021 | ISBN: 3030797007 | 194 Pages | PDF EPUB | 39 MB
This book focuses on how real-time task schedules for reconfigurable hardware-based embedded platforms may be affected due to the vulnerability of hardware and proposes self-aware security strategies to counteract the various threats. The emergence of Industry 4.0 has witnessed the deployment of reconfigurable hardware or field programmable gate arrays (FPGAs) in diverse embedded applications. These are associated with the execution of several real-time tasks arranged in schedules. However, they are associated with several issues. Development of fully and partially reconfigurable task schedules are discussed that eradicates the existing problems. However, such real-time task schedules may be jeopardized due to hardware threats. Analysis of such threats is discussed and self-aware security techniques are proposed that can detect and mitigate such threats at runtime.

River Planet Rivers from Deep Time to the Modern Crisis
English | 2021 | ISBN: 1780460996 | 241 pages | True PDF | 114.17 MB
River Planetintroduces readers to the epic geological history of the world's rivers, from the first drop of rain on the Earth to the modern environmental crisis.
The river journey begins with the first evidence of flowing water four billion years ago and continues with enormous rivers on the first supercontinents, after which terrestrial vegetation engineered new river forms in the Devonian period. The dramatic breakup of Pangea some 200 million years ago led to our familiar modern rivers as continents drifted and collided, mountains rose, and plains tilted. Among many remarkable cases, the book explores the rapid carving of the Grand Canyon, the reversal of the Amazon, and the lost rivers of Antarctica. There are gigantic meltwater floods from the Ice Age, which may be linked to accounts of the Deluge, and river systems drowned by rising sea level as the ice melted. Early human civilizations sought to control rivers through agriculture and irrigation, leading in the nineteenth century to hydraulic mining, the rise of big dams, and the burial of rivers below cities such as London. Rivers are now endangered worldwide, and the book celebrates people who preserve rivers around the world, bringing hope to river ecosystems and communities.
