Antenna Design for Cubesats
English | 2021 | ISBN: 1630817856 , 978-1630817855 | 213 pages | True PDF | 5.46 MB
A CubeSat is a miniaturized modular satellite that can be constructed from off-the-shelf components. With advancements in digital signal processing, power electronics, and packaging technology, it is feasible to fit science instruments and communication devices that were traditionally carried on larger satellites on CubeSat consolations. This not only reduces mission cost, repair, risk, but also provides more precise and real-time science data. Their low cost and versatility allow for CubeSats to be used to test technologies that are planned to use on larger satellites, to collect point-to-point data in space when launched as CubeSat constellations, or to monitor health of larger spacecrafts. This comprehensive reference explores CubeSat standards, launching methods, and detailed design guidelines for antennas specially made for CubeSat applications. Deployed CubeSat antennas, such as low gain antennas, high gain wire-based antennas, and horn and dish antennas as they relate to the technology are explored. Conformal CubeSat Antennas, including those that are independent of CubeSats and those integrated in CubeSat solar panels, are discussed. An antenna design guideline is provided to demonstrate the basics of a CubeSat link budget, which is transitionally published in signal and system community. Written by an expert in the field, this book enables readers to read antenna specifics when choosing communication front-end.

Animal Behaviour An Evolutionary Perspective
English | 2021 | ISBN: 3030828786 , 978-0521182300 | 403 pages | True PDF EPUB | 199.44 MB
Behavioural observations from both the field and captivity indicate that same-sex sexual interactions are widespread throughout the animal kingdom, and occur quite frequently in certain non-human species. Proximate studies of these phenomena have yielded important insights into genetic, hormonal and neural correlates. In contrast, there has been a relative paucity of research on the evolutionary aspects. Homosexual Behaviour in Animals seeks to redress this imbalance by exploring animal same-sex sexual behaviour from an evolutionary perspective. Contributions focus on animals that routinely engage in homosexual behaviour and include birds, dolphin, deer, bison and cats, as well as monkeys and apes, such as macaques, gorillas and bonobos. A final chapter looks at human primates. This book will appeal to graduate students and researchers in evolutionary biology, biological anthropology, zoology, evolutionary psychology, animal behaviour and anyone interested in the current state of knowledge in this area of behavioural studies.

Anatomies of Modern Discontent Visions from the Human Sciences
English | 2022 | ISBN: 0367535033 | 241 pages | True PDF | 10.39 MB
This book provides an overview and analysis of the thought of figures across the human and social sciences on the character, causes, and consequences of discontent in modern societies. Exploring the important social and cultural conditions associated with modernity, it focuses on the contributions of 38 prominent scholars from the late nineteenth and twentieth centuries - philosophers, historians, and social scientists - on the subject of discontent and social malaise, and individual and collective well-being. Thematically organized, this volume offers brief portraits of the lives and key ideas of these thinkers, leading toward a presentation of modernity as a "differentiated complaint." Reclaiming an important tradition in the human and social sciences that sees life on a grand scale, that integrates personal affairs with social and cultural matters, and that dares people to recommit themselves to this broader vision of human involvement,Anatomies of Modern Discontentwill appeal to readers across the social sciences and humanities, particularly those with interests in social theory, sociology, and philosophy.

An Introduction to the Birds of Pennsylvania (Classics To Go)
English | 2021 | ISBN: 0801436435 ,m 9783985311293 | 538 pages | True EPUB | 6.53 MB
Excerpt: "I have written this book for those who are beginning a study of birds in Pennsylvania; or for those who, after some study in a certain region, wish to know more about the birds in other sections of the Commonwealth. This book is not intended to be a complete reference work. The descriptions of the birds and statements of their status are as brief as I felt I could make them under the circumstances. Many species of birds which have been recorded in Pennsylvania are not even mentioned. These are omitted so as to simplify the list for the beginner, who is confronted with a sufficiently formidable array of new and strange names as it is. All important species are, however, included."
