Rebecca Kobrin, "Salo Baron: The Past and Future of Jewish Studies in America" English | ISBN: 0231204841 | 2022 | 272 pages | PDF | 7 MB In 1930, Columbia University appointed Salo Baron to be the Nathan L. Miller Professor of Jewish History, Literature, and Institutions―marking a turning point in the history of Jewish studies in America. Baron not only became perhaps the most accomplished scholar of Jewish history in the twentieth century, the author of many books including the eighteen-volume A Social and Religious History of the Jews. He also created a program and a discipline, mentoring hundreds of scholars, establishing major institutions including the first academic center to study Israel in the United States, building Columbia's Judaica collection, intervening as a public intellectual, and exerting an unparalleled influence on what it meant to study the Jewish past. Jean Marie Reheuser, Robert J. Chapin, John J. Chapin, "Sales Encyclopedia: The Most Comprehensive How-To Guide on Selling" English | 2009 | pages: 708 | ISBN: 0971968411 | EPUB | 0,7 mb For 100 years or more, the best salespeople have been slowly developing and cataloging best practices for their own use. Nowhere has all of this information been assembled at once until now. With the publication of Sales Encyclopedia, salespeople and sales managers have a single-volume source for information on every facet of the sales process. In 47 chapters and 678 pages, six authors with a combined 143 years of sales experience guide both new and experienced sales staff through every step of selling. In a clear, easy-to-digest style, the six authors provide a comprehensive guide that will enable new salespeople to gain the equivalent of years of experience, and remind veteran sellers of why their game stays sharp. It offers a range of theoretical and critical perspectives to provide contemporary insights into complex health issues that can offer ways to address inequitable patterns of illness and ill health. Router Joinery by Gary Rogowski English | 1997 | ISBN: 1561581747 | 192 pages | PDF | 100 MB Routers can be used to cut a wide variety of joints quickly and accurately. In this book, professional woodworker Gary Rogowski demonstrates router joinery techniques that can be mastered by any woodworker. You'll learn why correct setup and good stock preparation are essential to accurate work, and you'll see how to cut common frame and carcase joints using a hand-held or table-mounted router. Eberhard Schunck, "Roof Construction Manual, English Edition" English | 1999 | ISBN: 3764369868 | PDF | pages: 76 | 7.8 mb The "Roof Construction Manual" with over 1800 plans and 220 photographs is a vital reference work on the construction of pitched roofs. It offers extensive and fundamental information on all common types of roofing, and provides practical details for their construction. The volume is divided according to the type of roof elements and the jointing techniques. thirteen kinds of roofs and the relevant materials including thatch, wood, slate, tile, concrete, fibrous cement, bitumen, glass, metal, membranes, and synthetic materials are documented. Also described in detail are essential topics such as ventilation, the vapour and wind seals, insulation and water drainage, and the topics of renovation and energy conservation are examined. As with all the Construction Manuals, built examples illustrate the theoretical details. Some 38 examples which include 11 classic buildings and 27 buildings from the last 5 years show the construction of roofs paying particular attention to important features such as the ridge, hip, eaves, roof valley, verge, and penetration. A compact presentation of the load-bearing structures and the physics necessary for roof construction in addition to the current norms and standards make this volume as indispensable standard work for all architects and engineers.
Joe Burns, "Reviving the Strike: How Working People Can Regain Power and Transform America" English | ISBN: 1935439243 | 2011 | 224 pages | PDF | 2 MB If the American labor movement is to rise again, it will not be as a result of electing different politicians, the passage of legislation, or improved methods of union organizing. Rather, workers will need to rediscover the power of the strike. Not the ineffectual strike of today, where employees meekly sit on picket lines waiting for scabs to take their jobs, but the type of strike capable of grinding industries to a halt-the kind employed up until the 1960s. David Jones, "Returning to Zhu Xi: Emerging Patterns within the Supreme Polarity " English | ISBN: 1438458371 | 2015 | 372 pages | PDF | 6 MB A reconsideration of Zhu Xi, known as the "great synthesizer" of Confucianism, which establishes him as an important thinker in his own right. Retirement Migration to the Global South: Global Inequalities and Entanglements English | 2022 | ISBN: 9811669988 | 251 Pages | PDF | 3.3 MB This book examines the increasing evidence of international retirement migration (IRM) to countries of the Global South. IRM to countries of the Global South points to the increasing global interconnectedness of aging in relatively affluent countries and raises critical questions about its interrelations with global inequalities. This book provides a critical analysis of these global interrelations and their intertwinements with global inequalities and addresses the complex and multi-layered dimensions and implications of this development. It highlights the (ambiguous) everyday lives of retirement migrants in the countries of destination, and the severe impacts on the destination countries that are marked by processes of recolonization, and the reproduction, enhancement and reconfiguration of social inequalities. The growing retirement industry that capitalizes on retirement migration exploiting global differences and structural disadvantages of countries in the Global South is another integral part of this book. Christine Emba, "Rethinking Sex: A Provocation" English | ISBN: 0593087569 | 2022 | EPUB | 224 pages | 1 MB Part searing examination, part call to arms-a bold case against modern sexual ethics, from young Washington Post columnist Christine Emba.
Resolving Strong Field Dynamics in Cation States of CO_2 via Optimised Molecular Alignment By 2014 | 205 Pages | ISBN: 331905337X | PDF | 8 MB This thesis presents an experimental study of the ultrafast molecular dynamics of CO_2^+ that are induced by a strong, near-infrared, femtosecond laser pulse. In particular, typical strong field phenomena such as tunneling ionisation, nonsequential double ionisation and photo-induced dissociation are investigated and controlled by employing an experimental technique called impulsive molecular alignment. Here, a first laser pulse fixes the molecule in space, such that the molecular dynamics can be studied as a function of the molecular geometry with a second laser pulse. The experiments are placed within the context of the study and control of ultrafast molecular dynamics, where sub-femtosecond (10^-15 seconds) resolution in ever larger molecular systems represents the current frontier of research. The thesis presents the required background in strong field and molecular physics, femtosecond laser architecture and experimental techniques in a clear and accessible language that does not require any previous knowledge in these fields. |
