Mathematical Models for Decision Making with Multiple Perspectives An Introduction
English | 2022 | ISBN: 0367440741 | 301 pages | True PDF | 12.41 MB
This book brings together, in a single volume, the fields of multicriteria decision making and multiobjective optimization that are traditionally covered separately. Both fields have in common the presence of multiple perspectives of looking at and evaluating decisions to be taken but they differ in the number of available alternatives. Multicriteria approaches deal with decision processes where a finite number of alternatives have to be evaluated while, in multiobjective optimization, this number is infinite and the space of alternatives continuous. This book is written for students of applied mathematics, engineering, and economics and management, with no assumed previous knowledge on the subject, as well as for practitioners in industry looking for techniques to support decision making. The mathematical formalism is very low, so that all materials are accessible to most readers. Nonetheless, a rich bibliography allows interested readers to access more technical literature.

Mathematical Modeling of the Learning Curve and Its Practical Applications
English | 2022 | ISBN: 1685077374, 978-1685077372 | 276 pages | True PDF | 17.42 MB
This book provides a detailed description of the application of mathematical learning curve modeling to analyze the state of learning and memory in humans and animals. The purpose of the book is to enable the readers to apply the knowledge gained in their own research on learning and memory. The authors hope that the readers may achieve success in this field of knowledge, expand and advance mathematical modeling of the learning curve, and that this book may aid in this process. For this, the authors have developed their own mathematical model based on the systems theory and proved its advantage in relation to those previously proposed. The authors developed MS Windows application "Learning Curve Modeling Tool" to help the reader modeling the learning curve from raw learning data in the California Verbal Learning Test, the Rey Auditory Verbal Learning Test, and other similar memory tests. Moreover, the book describes in detail the Windows and Android application "Memory Monitoring Tool", developed by the authors, which is suited well for mathematical modeling of the learning curves. The application aims to reveal initial signs of memory impairment. Besides, the section APPENDIX A describes a Web application — "Learning curve simulator" — developed by the authors for helping readers to get started with practically modeling the learning curve and testing their memory. This application is included in the book. The book will be useful for undergraduate students, graduate students, advanced graduate students, and professors, especially for professors who work on learning in both humans and animals, and those interested in the memory of marijuana users, alcoholics, and those suffering from diabetes and multiple sclerosis, as well as other neurological and psychological diseases and their neurological complications including those after COVID-19.

Mathematical Game Theory, 1st Edition
English | 2022 | ISBN: 9811246696 | 240 pages | True PDF EPUB | 8.31 MB
What is a game? Classically, a game is perceived as something played by human beings. Its mathematical analysis is human-centered, explores the structures of particular games, economic or social environments and tries to model supposedly 'rational' human behavior in search of appropriate 'winning strategies'. This point of view places game theory into a very special scientific corner where mathematics, economics and psychology overlap and mingle. This book takes a novel approach to the subject. Its focus is on mathematical models that apply to game theory in particular but exhibit a universal character and thus extend the scope of game theory considerably. This textbook addresses anyone interested in a general game-theoretic view of the world. The reader should have mathematical knowledge at the level of a first course in real analysis and linear algebra. However, possibly more specialized aspects are further elaborated and pointers to relevant supplementary literature are given. Moreover, many examples invite the reader to participate 'actively' when going through the material. The scope of the book can be covered in one course on Mathematical Game Theory at advanced undergraduate or graduate level.
