Normans and Early Plantagenets (An Alternative History of Britain)
Normans and Early Plantagenets (An Alternative History of Britain) by Timothy Venning
English | January 31st, 2020 | ISBN: 178346271X | 240 pages | True EPUB | 0.93 MB
Continuing his exploration of the pathways of British history, Timothy Venning examines the turning points of the period from the death of William I to the reign of Edward III and a little beyond. As always, he discusses the crucial junctions at which History could easily have taken a different turn and analyses the possible and likely results. While necessarily speculative to a degree, the scenarios are all highly plausible and rooted in a firm understanding of actually events and their context. In so doing, Timothy Venning gives the reader a clearer understanding of the factors at play and why things happened the way they did, as well as a tantalizing view of what might so easily have been different.

No More Free Lunch Reflections on the Cuban Economic Reform Process and Challenges for Transformation
No More Free Lunch: Reflections on the Cuban Economic Reform Process and Challenges for Transformation By Claes Brundenius, Ricardo Torres Pérez (auth.), Claes Brundenius, Ricardo Torres Pérez (eds.)
2014 | 260 Pages | ISBN: 3319009176 | PDF | 3 MB
In September 2010, the Cuban government decided to embark on an economic reform program, unprecedented after the Revolution in 1959. This opened up opportunities for Cuban economists and scholars to participate in the development of the reform program. Thanks to grants from SSRC (Social Sciences Research Council, New York) and the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, several researchers from the Cuban think tank CEEC (Center for Studies of the Cuban Economy, Havana) got an opportunity to visit countries that could be of interest for the reform process, notably Vietnam, but also Brazil, South Africa and Norway. The result of these field visits and a subsequent workshop involving contributions from Cuban as well as non-Cuban scholars, this volume showcases unprecedented new insights into the process and prospects for reform along many dimensions, including foreign direct investment, import substitution, entrepreneurship and business creation, science and technology development, and fiscal policies. The resulting analysis, in a comparative perspective, provides a framework for future research as well as for business practice and policymaking.

Olivera Petrovich, "Natural-Theological Understanding from Childhood to Adulthood "
English | ISBN: 1138939471 | 2018 | 160 pages | PDF | 3 MB
It is commonly assumed that young children only begin to think about God as a result of some educational or cultural influence, perhaps provided by their parents. Natural-Theological Understanding from Childhood to Adulthood asks if there is anything about God that children can know independently of any specific cultural input; does their knowledge of God simply come from their everyday encounters with the surrounding world?
