COBIT 2019 Framework Governance and Management Objectives
Isaca, "COBIT 2019 Framework: Governance and Management Objectives"
English | 2018 | pages: 302 | ISBN: 1604207280 | PDF | 3,8 mb
COBIT is a framework for the governance and management of enterprise information and technology, aimed at the whole enterprise. Enterprise I&T means all the technology and information processing the enterprise puts in place to achieve its goals, regardless of where this happens in the enterprise. In other words, enterprise I&T is not limited to the IT department of an organization, but certainly includes it. This publication, COBIT 2019 Framework: Governance and Management Objectives, contains a detailed description of the COBIT Core Model and its 40 governance and management objectives. A description of each objective, its purpose, and its connection with enterprise and alignment goals along with sample metrics are provided. For each objective, the process, practices, activities, and related guidance to other standards and frameworks are also provided. COBIT defines the components to build and sustain a governance system: processes, organizational structures, policies and procedures, information flows, culture and behaviors, skills, and infrastructure. This publication also includes detailed information about each of the components relevant to each governance and management objective.

By Julian Palacios Syd Barrett and Pink Floyd Dark Globe First
Barrett, Syd, Julian, "By Julian Palacios: Syd Barrett and Pink Floyd: Dark Globe First"
English | 2010 | ASIN: B004QSLXN0, B01I1FH56M | EPUB | pages: 450 | 4.3 mb
Syd Barrett was an English composer and purveyor of some of the most intriguing music ever written. Famous before his twentieth birthday, Barrett led the charge of psychedelia onstage at London's famed UFO club. With a Fender Telecaster and a primitive Binson echo unit, Barrett liberated the guitar from being, in critic Simon Reynolds' words, 'a riff machine, and turned it into a texture and timbre generator.'

British and French Parliaments in Comparative Perspective
Loewenberg Gerhard, "British and French Parliaments in Comparative Perspective"
English | ISBN: 1138519790 | 2017 | 186 pages | EPUB | 1095 KB
The representative assembly, or parliament, as it is most widely called, is at once an old, a ubiquitous, and a controversial political institution. In this century it has attracted the criticism of both disillusioned democrats and true believers in the superior representatives of mass movements or of charismatic leaders. Even among its supporters the institution is constantly the object of reform. This book deals with parliament (the generic term for what also may be known as legislature, congress, assembly, diet, or knesset), what it has been and is, what it does and should do, and what may become of it.

Britain's Persuaders Soft Power in a Hard World
Helen Ramscar, "Britain's Persuaders: Soft Power in a Hard World"
English | ISBN: 0755634276 | 2021 | 264 pages | EPUB | 824 KB
'Soft power' is an oft-used term and commands an instinctive understanding among journalists and casual observers, who mostly interpret it as 'diplomatic' or somehow 'persuasive'. 'Hard power' is seen, by contrast, as something more tangible and usually military. But this is a superficial appreciation of a more subtle concept - and one key to Britain's future on the international stage. Britain's Persuaders is a deep exploration of this phenomenon, using new research into the instruments of soft power evident in British society and most relevant to the 2020s. Some, like the British Council or the BBC World Service, are explicitly intended to generate soft power in accordance with governmental intentions; but rather more, like the entertainment industries, sport, professional regulatory bodies, hospitality industries or education sectors have more penetrating soft power effects even as they pursue their own independent or commercial rationales.

Britain's Korean War Cold War diplomacy, strategy and security 1950-53
Thomas Hennessey, "Britain's Korean War: Cold War diplomacy, strategy and security 1950-53"
English | ISBN: 0719088593 | 2013 | 304 pages | EPUB | 664 KB
The book assesses the strains within the 'Special Relationship' between London and Washington and offers a new perspective on the limits and successes of British influence. The interaction between the main personalities on the British side - Attlee, Bevan, Morrison, Churchill and Eden - and their American counterparts - Truman, Acheson, Eisenhower and Dulles - are chronicled. By the end of the war the British were concerned that it was the Americans, rather than the Soviets, who were the greater threat to world peace. British fears concerning the Korean War were not limited to the diplomatic and military fronts - these extended to the 'Manchurian Candidate' threat posed by returning prisoners of war who had been exposed to communist indoctrination. The book is essential reading for those interested in British and US foreign policy and military strategy during the Cold War.

Britain and the Arab Gulf after Empire Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates, 1971-1981
Simon C. Smith, "Britain and the Arab Gulf after Empire: Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates, 1971-1981 "
English | ISBN: 1138838691 | 2019 | 208 pages | EPUB | 690 KB
Although Britain's formal imperial role in the smaller, oil-rich Sheikhdoms of the Arab Gulf - Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates - ended in 1971, Britain continued to have a strong interest and continuing presence in the region. This book explores the nature of Britain's role after the formal end of empire. It traces the historical events of the post-imperial years, including the 1973 oil shock, the fall of the Shah in Iran, and the beginnings of the Iran-Iraq War; considers the changing positions towards the region of other major world powers, including the United States; and engages with debates on the nature of empire and the end of empire. The book is a sequel to the author's highly acclaimed previous books Britain's Revival and Fall in the Gulf: Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, and the Trucial States, 1950-71
