De Lubac: A Guide for the Perplexed By David Grumett 2007 | 200 Pages | ISBN: 0826493149 | PDF | 5 MB Henri de Lubac is a dominating figure in the renewal of catholic theology in the twentieth century, opposing neo-Thomist orthodoxy with a pluriform and historical notion of tradition based on the creative reappropriation of patristic sources. De Lubac's adult life encompasses the whole of what Eric Hobsbawm has called the 'short' twentieth century, extending from the outbreak of the First World War in 1914, in which he fought, to the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991, the year in which he died. De Lubac commenced his theological training in exile in England, played a key role in the nouvelle théologie associated with the Jesuit scholasticate at Fourvière in Lyons, assumed a leading part in catholic resistance to the Vichy regime, was silenced in the aftermath of Humani generis in the 1950s, rehabilitated as a peritus (theological adviser) to the Second Vatican Council, and raised to the cardinalate in 1983. This introduction to De Lubac will therefore also provide an overview of the whole of twentieth century French catholic theology. De Lubac's work extends beyond narrow theological boundaries. Because of this breadth of interest, some areas of his work, such as his political theology and study of Buddhism, have previously received little attention. In bringing figures from other intellectual disciplines into dialogue with Christian scripture and tradition, however, De Lubac reveals the theological significance of their positions as well as demonstrating the insufficiency of their ambivalent attitudes to faith. Thomas Gad, "Customer Experience Branding: Driving Engagement Through Surprise and Innovation" English | ISBN: 0749477504 | 2016 | 192 pages | EPUB | 2 MB The individual consumer now wields more power than ever before, with increased exposure to global cultures and media. This means that customer perception is now critically important and as such must occupy the heart of any brand. This provides a wealth of opportunities to work with and adapt to customers' motivations, but at the same time presents a series of challenges around retaining their attention and fostering positive relationships with them. The secret of a brand's success often lies in its ability to respond nimbly to the unexpected adoption of its products or services - essentially its ability to surprise its consumers. To all intents and purposes, brands must continue to introduce innovative and intriguing experiences to customers so that they can remain differentiated from the herd and deliver a human message amongst increasingly automated and unremarkable communications.
Monica Casper, Eric Wertheimer, "Critical Trauma Studies: Understanding Violence, Conflict and Memory in Everyday Life" English | 2016 | pages: 306 | ISBN: 1479822515, 147989656X | PDF | 3,9 mb Trauma is a universal human experience. While each person responds differently to trauma, its presence in our lives nonetheless marks a continual thread through human history and prehistory. In Critical Trauma Studies, a diverse group of writers, activists, and scholars of sociology, anthropology, literature, and cultural studies reflects on the study of trauma and how multidisciplinary approaches lend richness and a sense of deeper understanding to this burgeoning field of inquiry. The original essays within this collection cover topics such as female suicide bombers from the Chechen Republic, singing prisoners in Iranian prison camps, sexual assault and survivor advocacy, and families facing the devastation of Hurricane Katrina. As it proceeds, Critical Trauma Studies never loses sight of the way those who study trauma as an academic field, and those who experience, narrate, and remediate trauma as a personal and embodied event, inform one another. Theoretically adventurous and deeply particular, this book aims to advance trauma studies as a discipline that transcends intellectual boundaries, to be mapped but also to be unmoored from conceptual and practical imperatives. Remaining embedded in lived experiences and material realities, Critical Trauma Studies frames the field as both richly unbounded and yet clearly defined, historical, and evidence-based. The industrial revolution brought with it many benefits such as the production of coal, steel and cement, and mass produced chemicals and fertilizers; it also brought pollution, and shortly thereafter, a serious concern for the environment. This book presents the most up-to-date government information on various environmental topics. Crime, Violence, and Justice in Latin America by Carlos Solar and Carlos A.
