Women's International Thought A New History
Women's International Thought: A New History By Patricia Owens; Katharina Rietzler
2021 | 360 Pages | ISBN: 1108796877 | PDF | 14 MB
Women's International Thought: A New History is the first cross-disciplinary history of women's international thought. Bringing together some of the foremost historians and scholars of international relations working today, this book recovers and analyses the path-breaking work of eighteen leading thinkers of international politics from the early to mid-twentieth century. Recovering and analyzing this important work, the essays offer revisionist accounts of IR's intellectual and disciplinary history and expand the locations, genres, and practices of international thinking. Systematically structured, and focusing in particular on Black diasporic, Anglo-American, and European historical women, it does more than 'add women' to the existing intellectual and disciplinary histories from which they were erased. Instead, it raises fundamental questions about which kinds of subjects and what kind of thinking constitutes international thought, opening new vistas to scholars and students of international history and theory, intellectual history and women's and gender studies.

Wireless Localization Techniques
Wireless Localization Techniques
English | 2023 | ISBN: 3031211774 | 651 Pages | PDF EPUB (True) | 66 MB
This book first presents a systematic theoretical study of wireless localization techniques. Then, guided by the theoretical results, the authors provide design approaches for improving the performance of localization systems and making the deployment of the systems more convenient. The book aims to address the following issues: how reliable the wireless localization system can be; how the system can scale up with the number of users to be served; how to make key design decisions in implementing the system; and how to mitigate human efforts in deploying the wireless localization system. The book is relevant for researchers, academics, and students interested in wireless localization technology.

Winning Hearts and Minds―How Central Banks went green
Fiona Hauke, "Winning Hearts and Minds―How Central Banks went green"
English | ISBN: 3658402415 | 2023 | 74 pages | PDF | 687 KB
In this book, the author traces the emergence of the climate-related financial risks (CRFR) policy norm in central banking. During recent years, Central Banks (CBs) have increasingly started to care about climate change. This development is puzzling and has received surprisingly little scholarly attention so far. Why is it that CBs with a very narrow mandate like the ECB, start to tackle CRFR? What makes CBs adopt a new policy norm on climate change and sustainable development although this provokes discussions about their independence? Based on data collected through expert interviews triangulated with public sources, the author shows that the CRFR policy norm emerged in three steps. First, an epistemic community of think tanks and politically engaged academics framed the idea of CRFR and proposed a policy norm specifically focusing on CBs. Second, the epistemic community taught the CRFR policy norm to early-adopting CBs that acted as norm champions, which helped strengthen its social recognition in the central banking community. Third, the CRFR policy norm has been strengthened by activist campaigns demanding CBs to comply with the emerging new policy norm.

Voices of the Renaissance Contemporary Accounts of Daily Life
John A. Wagner, "Voices of the Renaissance: Contemporary Accounts of Daily Life "
English | ISBN: 1440876037 | 2022 | 316 pages | EPUB | 3 MB
Voices of the Renaissance: Contemporary Accounts of Daily Life contains excerpts from 52 different documents relating to the period of European history known as the Renaissance. In the 14th century, the rise of humanism, a philosophy based on the study of the languages, literature, and material culture of ancient Greece and Rome, led to a sense of revitalization and renewal among the city-states of northern Italy. The political development and economic expansion of those cities provided the ideal conditions for humanist scholarship to flourish. This period of literary, artistic, architectural, and cultural flowering is today known as the Renaissance, a term taken from the French and meaning "rebirth."

Views from the Parish Churchwardens' Accounts C.1500-C.1800
Views from the Parish: Churchwardens' Accounts C.1500-C.1800 By Andrew Foster; Valerie Hitchman
2015 | 255 Pages | ISBN: 1443883662 | PDF | 2 MB
This collection of essays raises the profile of churchwardens' accounts, much beloved by many local historians, yet not as well-known as the parish registers and poor law material that also comprised the contents of the celebrated 'parish chest'. Churchwardens' accounts survive for only a minority of parishes of England, Wales and Ireland, meaning they are 'treasure trove' where they do exist. They afford an invaluable source for information about the maintenance of church fabric, furnishings, liturgy, music, and the nature of parish worship and community life in general. We are fortunate to possess such records for over 3,750 parishes, and for the most part, they are thankfully carefully stored in over 125 record offices. This collection illustrates what may be achieved in use of these records, poses questions about the many technical and conceptual problems that will be encountered, and provides invaluable context in terms of changes in record keeping practice over time and location. Essays deal with such matters as the nature of the church year, the impact of the Reformation, local rituals, parish customs, the particularities of survival in Wales and Ireland, the impact of Civil Wars, and what may be gleaned about the history of music. This wide-ranging collection of essays, covering a long period, will spark new research on the many issues raised by a team of experienced experts in the field.
