But Chuy Renteria and his friends grew up in the space between these news stories, where a more complicated West Liberty awaits. We Heard It When We Were Young tells the story of a young boy, first-generation Mexican American, who is torn between cultures: between immigrant parents trying to acclimate to midwestern life and a town that is, by turns, supportive and disturbingly antagonistic. ![]() We Are All Addicts by Stout, Carder; English | 2023 | ISBN: 1632280817 | 146 pages | True EPUB | 5.29 MB ![]() Vulnerable States: Bodies of Memory in Contemporary Caribbean Fiction By Guillermina De Ferrari 2007 | 272 Pages | ISBN: 0813926467 | PDF | 2 MB According to Martinican theorist Édouard Glissant, the twentieth century has been dominated in the Caribbean by a passion for the remembrance of colonial history. But while Glissant identifies this passion for memory in the thematizing of nature in Caribbean modernist life, scholar Guillermina De Ferrari claims it is the vulnerability of the human body that has become the trope to which Caribbean postmodernist authors largely appeal in their efforts to revise the discourse that has shaped postcolonial societies. In Vulnerable States: Bodies of Memory in Contemporary Caribbean Fiction, De Ferrari offers a comparative study of novels from across the Caribbean, arguing that vulnerability (symbolic and therefore political) should be seen as the true foundation of Caribbeanness. While most theories of the region have traditionally emphasized corporeality as a constitutive aspect of Caribbean societies, they assume its uniqueness is founded on race, itself understood either as a "fact" of the body or as the "ethnic" fusion of distinctive cultures of origin. In reconceptualizing corporeality as vulnerability, De Ferrari proposes an alternative view of Caribbeanness based on affect―that is, on an emotional disposition that results from the alienating role historical, medical, and anthropological notions of the body have traditionally played in determining how the region understands itself. While vulnerability thus addresses the role historically played by race in determining systems of social and political powerlessness, it also prefigures other ways in which Caribbeanness is currently negotiated at local and international levels, ranging from the stigmatization of the ill to the global fetishization of the region's physical beauty, material degradation, and political stagnation.Positioned at the intersection of literary and anthropological study, Vulnerable States will appeal to Caribbeanists of the three major language areas of the region as well as to postcolonial scholars interested in issues of race, gender, and nation formation ![]() The Tomorrow War 2021 WEBRip x264-ION10_Lori Language: English 1.31 GB | 02:18:06 | MP4 | 720x300 | MP4a-40-2, 48 Khz, 2 channels, 256 Kbps Genre: Action | Adventure | Drama iMDB info Provider: Lori.Yagami A family man is drafted to fight in a future war where the fate of humanity relies on his ability to confront the past. ![]() Voices of the People English | 2021 | ASIN: B093YCRCBB | 292 Pages | EPUB | 34 MB In a first-of-its-kind collaboration, the Tribes have partnered with the National Park Service to produce an account of their diverse histories, family chronicles, and visions for the future, all presented from their perspective and in their own words. ![]() Vegeterian & Vegan BBQ And Grill Cookbook : 100 Delicious Ways To Grill Vegetarian and Vegan Breakfast, Starters, Vegetable Mains, Sides, Pizza and Bread, Sandwiches, and Dessert by Gilbert C. Stansbury-O'Donnell, "Vase Painting, Gender, and Social Identity in Archaic Athens" English | ISBN: 110766280X | 2013 | 327 pages | PDF | 30 MB This study explores the phenomenon of spectators in the Classical world through a database built from a census of the Corpus Vasorum Antiquorum, which reveals that spectator figures flourished in Athenian vase painting during the last two-thirds of the sixth century BCE. Using models developed from psychoanalysis and the theory of the gaze, ritual studies, and gender studies, Mark Stansbury-O'Donnell demonstrates how these "spectators" emerge as models for social and gender identification in the archaic city, encoding in their gestures and behavior archaic attitudes about gender and status. ![]() Using the WordPress REST API: Everything you need to know to begin using the WordPress REST API English | 2019 | ISBN: B07XK2MFD1 | 75 Pages | PDF EPUB (True) | 21 MB Developers shouldn't have to search all over the web to find basic information.
