Concorde
Kev Darling - Concorde
Crowood Press | 2004 | ISBN: 1861266545 | English | 204 pages | PDF | 102.62 MB
Concorde is the only successful supersonic airliner that there has ever been. The product of a collaboration between British and French aviation industries, Concorde first flew in 1969, and entered service in 1976. By the time of it first commercial flight the high hopes for the aircraft's adoption by airlines across the world had evaporated. In the end only its home country's flag carriers, Air France and British Airways, operated the aircraft, on scheduled services between London, New York, Paris, Washington. The crash of one of Air France's machines, and the drop-off in passenger numbers following the 11 September 2001 terrorist attacks, signalled the end for Concorde. It was retired from service during 2003.

Concepts In Scientific Writing
English | 2020 | ISBN: 978-87-403-1091-7 | 104 Pages | EPUB | 3.2 MB
The book draws on history and philosophy of science, there being for example a discussion of formal logic as it relates to writing. The writings of personages including Michael Faraday and Isaac Newton are drawn on as examples, as are those of several Nobel Laureates including Richard Feynman. Quotations from these are analysed and commented upon. The text contains illustrations, including one of the title page of Newton's Principia. There are also portraits of some of the scientists whose work is drawn on. The popularising of science has major coverage in the text, with examples dating from the early 19th century. There is also a section on etymology of scientific terms and on use of figures of speech. There is a chapter on newspaper reporting of science, with analysis of carefully selected examples.

The first book on commutative semigroups was Redei's The theory of .finitely generated commutative semigroups, published in Budapest in 1956. Subsequent years have brought much progress. By 1975 the structure of finite commutative semigroups was fairly well understood. Recent results have perfected this understanding and extended it to finitely generated semigroups.

Commutative Algebra Volume II
Commutative Algebra: Volume II by Oscar Zariski , Pierre Samuel
English | PDF | 1960 | 425 Pages | ISBN : 3662277530 | 41.9 MB
This second volume of our treatise on commutative algebra deals largely with three basic topics, which go beyond the more or less classical material of volume I and are on the whole of a more advanced nature and a more recent vintage. These topics are: (a) valuation theory; (b) theory of polynomial and power series rings (including generalizations to graded rings and modules); © local algebra. Because most of these topics have either their source or their best motivation in algebraic geom etry, the algebro-geometric connections and applications of the purely algebraic material are constantly stressed and abundantly scattered through out the exposition.

Coal and export and import thereof feature throughout the book, the time span of which predates the oil industry. There is a good deal on accidental fires. Shakespeare receives considerable coverage as one of a total on one hundred and one authors who feature. Others include John Donne and (from much later) Francis Scott Key.
