Nature's Diplomats Science, Internationalism, and Preservation, 1920-1960
Raf De Bont, "Nature's Diplomats: Science, Internationalism, and Preservation, 1920-1960 "
English | ISBN: 0822946610 | 2021 | 384 pages | PDF | 60 MB
Nature's Diplomats explores the development of science-based and internationally conceived nature protection in its foundational years before the 1960s, the decade when it launched from obscurity onto the global stage. Raf De Bont studies a movement while it was still in the making and its groups were still rather small, revealing the geographies of the early international preservationist groups, their social composition, self-perception, ethos, and predilections, their ideals and strategies, and the natures they sought to preserve.

Nature Course Notes from the Collège de France
Dominique Seglard, Robert Vallier, "Nature: Course Notes from the Collège de France"
English | 2003 | ISBN: 0810114461, 0810114453 | PDF | pages: 167 | 78.8 mb
Collected here are the written traces of courses on the concept of nature given by Maurice Merleau-Ponty at the Collège de France in the 1950s-notes that provide a window on the thinking of one of the most influential philosophers of the twentieth century. In two courses distilled by a student and in a third composed of Merleau-Ponty's own notes, the ideas that animated the philosopher's lectures and that informed his later publications emerge in an early, fluid form in the process of being elaborated, negotiated, critiqued, and reconsidered.

Natural Polymeric Materials Based Drug Delivery Systems in Lung Diseases
Natural Polymeric Materials Based Drug Delivery Systems in Lung Diseases
English | 2023 | ISBN: 9811976554 | 789 Pages | PDF EPUB (True) | 33 MB
This book comprehensively reviews the recent developments of natural polymers for drug delivery systems in various lung disorders. The initial chapter provides a brief introduction to lung diseases with a focus on the current landscape of natural polymers and trends in understanding the disease pathology. Several chapters of the book devoted to the latest technologies and advances in drug delivery systems include practical solutions on designing more effective drug delivery systems based on natural polymers that can be used in the management of lung diseases. Further, the book presents biodegradable and bio-reducible- natural polymers- based drug delivery systems for lung diseases. Towards the end, the book examines future prospects and challenges of natural polymers-based drug delivery systems in combating lung diseases. This book is useful for phytochemists, formulation/drug delivery, biological and translational researchers and clinicians working in the field of lung disorders.

Natural Environment and Culture in the Mediterranean Region
Georges Cravins, Munir Ozturk and Ibrahim Atalay, "Natural Environment and Culture in the Mediterranean Region"
English | 2008 | ISBN: 1847186580 | PDF | pages: 509 | 10.5 mb
The largest of the world's five Mediterranean-climate regions and one of the largest archipelagos in the world, the Mediterranean Basin is located at the intersection of two major landmasses, Eurasia and Africa, which contributes to its cultural and high biodiversity. Although much of the hotspot was once covered by a dense cover of forests, the Basin has experienced intensive human development and impact on its ecosystems for at least 8000 years, significantly longer than any other hotspot. The greatest impacts have been deforestation, habitat fragmentation, intensive grazing and fires, and infrastructure development, especially on the coast, which have distinctly altered the landscape. The agricultural lands, evergreen woodlands and maquis habitats dominating the basin are the result of these disturbances over several millennia. Many of the endemic species are narrow endemics, being confined to very small areas, and thus are extremely vulnerable to the anthropogenic pressures. Probably more species have gone extinct here than in any other hotspot. At present approximately 300 million people live here and water shortages and desertification will be the serious problems in the near future. Tourism is placing a significant pressure on the coastal ecosystems. The construction of infrastructure and the direct impacts of people using and trampling sensitive dune ecosystems remains a key threat to coastal areas. In view of the valuable natural heritage there is a great need for weighing our ecological impact in order to achieve a balance between biodiversity conservation and human development and above all, how to maintain traditional rural livelihoods in a way that benefits biodiversity. The changes in the atmosphere, geomorphological processes, and most natural cycles involving a biomass of any substantial size denote the arrival of a new geological period the ""Anthropocene"". We the humans are actively changing the overall conditions of our existence by terraforming the earth, changing the overall patterns of basic life systems in the process of remaking our specific contexts, not least to supposedly secure our modes of life. This book is thus synthesizing knowledge from many disciplines to throw some light on the unpredictability of forthcoming changes.
