Danzig Baldaev Drawings from the Gulag
Free Download Danzig Baldaev: Drawings from the Gulag By Damon Murray (editor), Stephen Sorrell (editor)
2010 | 240 Pages | ISBN: 0956356249 | PDF | 76 MB
Drawings from the Gulag consists of 130 drawings by Danzig Baldaev (author of the acclaimed Russian Criminal Tattoo Encyclopaedia series), describing the history, horror and peculiarities of the Gulag system from its inception in 1918. Baldaev's father, a respected ethnographer, taught him techniques to record the tattoos of criminals in St. Petersburg's notorious Kresty prison, where Danzig worked as a guard. He was reported to the K.G.B. who unexpectedly offered support for his work, allowing him the opportunity to travel across the former U.S.S.R. Witnessing scenes of everyday life in the Gulag, he chronicled this previously closed world from both sides of the wire. With every vignette, Baldaev brings the characters he depicts to vivid life: from the lowest "zek" (inmate) to the most violent tattooed "vor" (thief), all the practices and inhabitants of the Gulag system are depicted here in incredible and often shocking detail. In documenting the attitude of the authorities to those imprisoned, and the transformation of these citizens into survivors or victims of the Gulag system, this graphic novel vividly depicts methods of torture and mass murder undertaken by the administration, as well as the atrocities committed by criminals upon their fellow inmates.Danzig Baldaev was born in 1925 in Ulan-Ude, Buryatiya, Russia. In 1948, after serving in the army in World War II, he was ordered by the N.K.V.D. to work as a warden in the infamous Leningrad prison, Kresty, where he started drawing the tattoos of criminals. His collection of drawings, which he made in different reformatory settlements for criminals all over the former U.S.S.R. over a period of more than 50 years, have been published by Fuel in three volumes, in the bestselling Russian Criminal Tattoo Encyclopaedia series.

Dalits' Struggle for Social Justice in Andhra Pradesh (1956– 2008)
Free Download Dalits' Struggle for Social Justice in Andhra Pradesh (1956-2008) By Pasala Sudhakar, Akepogu Jammanna
2016 | 310 Pages | ISBN: 1443894664 | PDF | 2 MB
The complete alienation of Dalits from resources like land, water, and agricultural implements has led to the collective demand for an equal share in productivity. This book discusses the range of socio-economic and cultural problems faced by the Dalit community. The movement advancing the rights of Dalits took place both before and after independence, however they varied in intensity, and concerned land ownership and fair wages, self-respect, social dignity, and the demand for equal rights. This movement appeared to have significantly changed the very mindset and attitude of upper caste people to restrain themselves and not to resort to any discrimination or humiliation of Dalits. However, this seems to have been only a temporary phenomenon, and the practice of suppression and humiliation continues today. This book explores the circumstances of Dalits in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh, and the current efforts attempting to achieve more social equality for the caste here.

Free Download Dalit Women and Dropout Rates in Collegiate Education: A Study of the Warangal District of Andhra Pradesh By Silveru Harinath
2013 | 102 Pages | ISBN: 1443844543 | PDF | 1 MB
Caste is an inescapable aspect in terms of education in the Indian state, as it is in many other aspects of public life. Education standards have changed throughout the course of Indian history, but the subjugated Dalits, and particularly female children belonging to this caste, still face the hurdles of caste discrimination in society and in the education sector in particular. Despite introducing state education policies, the scale and size of these policies have not resulted in an increase in Dalit women participating in higher education. Like several other states, Andhra Pradesh (the focus of this book) has been undergoing checks and imbalances in terms of providing education. This book throws light on several issues pertaining to Dalit women and the social stigma they have been facing in dropping out from college education in the Warangal District of Andhra Pradesh.

Cyber– Physical Systems A Model– Based Approach
Free Download Walid M. Taha, "Cyber-Physical Systems: A Model-Based Approach"
English | 2020 | ISBN: 3030360709, 3030360733 | PDF | pages: 205 | 4.3 mb
In this concise yet comprehensive Open Access textbook, futureinventors are introduced to the key concepts of Cyber-Physical Systems(CPS). Using modeling as a way to develop deeper understanding of thecomputational and physical components of these systems, one can express new designs in a way that facilitates their simulation, visualization, and analysis. Concepts are introduced in across-disciplinary way. Leveraging hybrid (continuous/discrete) systems as a unifying framework and Acumen as a modeling environment, the book bridges the conceptual gap in modeling skills needed forphysical systems on the one hand and computational systems on theother. In doing so, the book gives the reader the modeling and designskills they need to build smart, IT-enabled products.Starting with a look at various examples and characteristics ofCyber-Physical Systems, the book progresses to explain how the areabrings together several previously distinct ones such as EmbeddedSystems, Control Theory, and Mechatronics.Featuring a simulation-based project that focuses on a roboticsproblem (how to design a robot that can play ping-pong) as a usefulexample of a CPS domain, Cyber-Physical Systems: A Model-BasedApproach demonstrates the intimate coupling between cyber and physical components, and how designing robots reveals several non-trivialcontrol problems, significant embedded and real-time computationrequirements, and a need to consider issues of communication andpreconceptions.
