Space-Air-Ground Integrated Network Security
Free Download Space-Air-Ground Integrated Network Security
English | 2023 | ISBN: 9819911249 | 725 Pages | PDF EPUB (True) | 73 MB
This book focuses on security science and technology, data and information security, and mobile and network security for space-air-ground integrated networks (SAGINs). SAGIN are expected to play an increasingly important role in providing real-time, flexible, and integrated communication and data transmission services in an efficient manner. Today, SAGINs have been widely developed for a range of applications in navigation, environmental monitoring, traffic management, counter-terrorism, etc. However, security becomes a major concern, since the satellites, spacecrafts, and aircrafts are susceptible to a variety of traditional/specific network-based attacks, including eavesdropping, session hijacking, and illegal access.

Societal Stress and Law
Free Download Societal Stress and Law
English | 2023 | ISBN: 3031308743 | 200 Pages | PDF EPUB (True) | 4 MB
Societal Stress and Law draws attention to the social side effects of law by developing the sociological concept of society-level stress, a corollary of the concept of individual-level stress in the biological sciences. To encourage interest in societal stress, the book looks at (1) instances of law adopted by American states that the U.S. Supreme Court held unconstitutional and (2) actions by American states with regard to a proposal to amend the federal Constitution. The Court rulings and the proposed constitutional amendment were capable of producing societal stress because they were seen by a sizeable segment of the U.S. public as being incompatible with significant American traditions. In original studies that apply logistic regression to state-level statistical data, the book identifies sociological variables that predict state differences in the adoption of this law and state differences in actions on the proposed constitutional amendment. Because these variables represent societal agents that affected whether a state experienced social stress from the rulings and proposal, the book blends theory with empirical research and illustrates how each can support the other in law-focused scholarship.

Social Edge Computing
Free Download Social Edge Computing: Empowering Human-Centric Edge Computing, Learning and Intelligence
English | 2023 | ISBN: 3031269357 | 315 Pages | PDF EPUB (True) | 29 MB
The rise of the Internet of Things (IoT) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) leads to the emergence of edge computing systems that push the training and deployment of AI models to the edge of networks for reduced bandwidth cost, improved responsiveness, and better privacy protection, allowing for the ubiquitous AI that can happen anywhere and anytime. Motivated by the above trend, this book introduces a new computing paradigm, the Social Edge Computing (SEC), that empowers human-centric edge intelligent applications by revolutionizing the computing, intelligence, and the training of the AI models at the edge. The SEC paradigm introduces a set of critical human-centric challenges such as the rational nature of edge device owners, pronounced heterogeneity of the edge devices, real-time AI at the edge, human and AI interaction, and the privacy of the edge users. The book addresses these challenges by presenting a series of principled models and systems that enable the confluence of the computing capabilities of devices and the domain knowledge of the people, while explicitly addressing the unique concerns and constraints from humans.

Sisters in Crisis Revisited From Unraveling to Reform and Renewal
Free Download Sisters in Crisis Revisited: From Unraveling to Reform and Renewal By Ann Carey
2013 | 500 Pages | ISBN: 1586177893 | EPUB | 1 MB
Fifty years ago, nearly 200,000 religious sisters worked in Catholic schools, hospitals and other institutions throughout the United States. American Catholics honored these women of faith who founded and built these flourishing works of mercy. Then came the ideological shifts and moral upheavals of the 1960s, and ever since, most women's orders in the United States have been in a state of crisis. Now the sisters are aging, with fewer and fewer younger women to take their place. Perhaps related to this demographic shift is the continuing doctrinal confusion that has come under the scrutiny of the Vatican.Using the archival records of the Leadership Conference of Women Religious and other prominent groups of sisters, journalist and author Ann Carey shows how feminist activists unraveled American women's religious communities from their leadership positions in national organizations and large congregations. She also explains the recent and necessary interventions by the Vatican. After examining the many forces that have contributed to the crisis, Carey reports on a promising sign of renewal in American religious life: the growing number of young women attracted to older communities that have retained their identity and newly formed, yet traditional, congregations.

Singing the News Ballads in Mid-Tudor England
Free Download Singing the News: Ballads in Mid-Tudor England By Jenni Hyde
2018 | 282 Pages | ISBN: 1138553476 | PDF | 13 MB
Singing the News is the first study to concentrate on sixteenth-century ballads, when there was no regular and reliable alternative means of finding out news and information. It is a highly readable and accessible account of the important role played by ballads in spreading news during a period when discussing politics was treason. The study provides a new analytical framework for understanding the ways in which balladeers spread their messages to the masses. Jenni Hyde focusses on the melody as much as the words, showing how music helped to shape the understanding of texts. Music provided an emotive soundtrack to words which helped to shape sixteenth-century understandings of gendered monarchy, heresy and the social cohesion of the commonwealth. By combining the study of ballads in manuscript and print with sources such as letters and state records, the study shows that when their topics edged too close to sedition, balladeers were more than capable of using sophisticated methods to disguise their true meaning in order to safeguard themselves and their audience, and above all to ensure that their news hit home.
