Inhaled Delivery Systems for the Treatment of Asthma and COPD
Free Download Inhaled Delivery Systems for the Treatment of Asthma and COPD
English | 2023 | ISBN: 1032215739 | 209 Pages | PDF (True) | 13 MB
Inhaled therapies form the cornerstone for treatment of patients with asthma and COPD. Evolving technology has resulted in availability of a wide range of devices for delivery of inhaled drugs. The four different delivery systems - pressurized metered-dose inhalers, slow mist inhalers, dry powder inhalers, and nebulizers - are unique in design and require distinct inhalational instructions for correct use. This book provides current information about inhalation devices, including their advantages and disadvantages, with guidance for optimal techniques of use. The book emphasizes appropriate selection of inhalation devices based on patient and health care professional factors as well as device attributes that allow selection of the right medication in the right inhalation device at the right time for the right patient.

This second edition volume expands on the previous edition with an update on the broad spectrum of research models, techniques, and protocols used in laboratories by basic and clinical researchers. The chapters in this book are divided into two parts. Part One discusses the latest findings on the development and characterization of representative research models for chronic immune-based diseases and inflammation-associated cancers. Part Two covers biochemical, molecular, and cellular biological techniques that are commonly used to dissect the molecular mechanisms and cellular processes that drive the pathogenesis of certain disease states. Written in the highly successful Methods in Molecular Biology series format, chapters include introductions to their respective topics, lists of the necessary materials and reagents, step-by-step, readily reproducible laboratory protocols, and tips on troubleshooting and avoiding known pitfalls.

Industrial Drying Systems
Free Download Industrial Drying Systems: Guidelines for Agriculture, Food, and Wood Products
English | 2023 | ISBN: 3031318625 | 629 Pages | PDF EPUB (True) | 9 MB
This book stands as a manual and ready reference for the range of professionals involved in industrial drying. It addresses problems connected with most industrial drying systems, too often designed by those with limited formal engineering training in an environment of minimal regulatory oversight. The author explains how many existing drying systems are dangerous and pose fire hazards, create unhealthy working conditions, are highly energy inefficient, and have very little to no primary modeling of key process variables. Equipping readers with the necessary competencies to contend with issues in conducting studies, developing new designs; manufacturing, installing, and servicing industrial drying systems, this volume is ideal for engineers, OEMS, contractors, service technicians, scientists; agriculture, food, wood products manufacturers; and insurance underwriters.

Indigenous Technology Knowledge Systems
Free Download Indigenous Technology Knowledge Systems: Decolonizing the Technology Education Curriculum
English | 2023 | ISBN: 9819913950 | 592 Pages | PDF EPUB (True) | 27 MB
There has been a growing interest in indigenous knowledge systems and research. This interest has been mainly triggered by the need to decolonize education as a response to the colonial onslaught on indigenous knowledge and people. Research has, however, concentrated on the generality of the indigenous knowledge system rather than on its related dimensions. One area that has suffered a lack of attention is indigenous conceptions of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) despite the unquestionable evidence of STEM in indigenous contexts. Most STEM is presented by colonial establishments and representations, especially in developed/modern/urban contexts, which portray STEM as a colonial construct.

India and Europe in a Changing World
Free Download India and Europe in a Changing World: Context, Confrontation, Cooperation
English | 2023 | ISBN: 9819911133 | 802 Pages | PDF EPUB (True) | 8 MB
This book explores India's economic and political relations and defence cooperation with major West European countries-France, Germany, Italy, Spain and the United Kingdom as well as Austria, the Visegrad Four, the Netherlands, Portugal, Sweden and the Baltics. It examines the complexity, the elements of convergence and divergence as well as the challenges and prospects of India's relations with these countries and assesses the diverging EU think tanks' images of India. It focuses on India's multi-dimensional relationship with European countries, which are major trading partners, a significant source and destination of foreign direct investment, an important source of technology and best practices. It examines the Narendra Modi government's policies to re-energise the India-EU matrix and proactively engage Europe and its sub-regions.

Implied Nowhere Absence in Folklore Studies
Free Download Implied Nowhere: Absence in Folklore Studies By Shelley Ingram, Willow G. Mullins, Todd Richardson
2019 | 236 Pages | ISBN: 1496822951 | PDF | 10 MB
In Implied Nowhere: Absence in Folklore Studies, authors Shelley Ingram, Willow G. Mullins, and Todd Richardson talk about things folklorists don't usually talk about. They ponder the tacit aspects of folklore and folklore studies, looking into the unarticulated expectations placed upon people whenever they talk about folklore and how those expectations necessarily affect the folklore they are talking about. The book's chapters are wide-ranging in subject and style, yet they all orbit the idea that much of folklore, both as a phenomenon and as a field, hinges upon unspoken or absent assumptions about who people are and what people do. The authors articulate theories and methodologies for making sense of these unexpressed absences, and, in the process, they offer critical new insights into discussions of race, authenticity, community, literature, popular culture, and scholarly authority. Taken as a whole, the book represents a new and challenging way of looking again at the ways groups come together to make meaning. In addition to the main chapters, the book also includes eight "interstitials," shorter studies that consider underappreciated aspects of folklore. These discussions, which range from a consideration of knitting in public to the ways that invisibility shapes an internet meme, are presented as questions rather than answers, encouraging readers to think about what more folklore and folklore studies might discover if only practitioners chose to look at their subjects from angles more cognizant of these unspoken gaps.

Il Duomo Di Siena Excavations and Pottery Below the Siena Cathedral
Free Download Il Duomo Di Siena: Excavations and Pottery Below the Siena Cathedral By Gabriele Castiglia
2014 | 159 Pages | ISBN: 1905739745 | PDF | 15 MB
This book is the result of the processing of the excavation data and of the pottery coming from the stratigraphy underneath the cathedral of Siena. The surveys were conducted between August 2000 and May 2003 by the Department of Archaeology and History of Arts of the University of Siena, with the scientific coordination of Prof. Riccardo Francovich and Prof. Marco Valenti and the collaboration of the Opera del Duomo di Siena. The ultimate goal is to trace a view of the settlement types and economic framework that has affected the hill of the Cathedral from the Classical age to the late Middle Ages, combining stratigraphic data and the study of materials. The limited planimetric extension of the excavations (often physiological to urban contexts) did not allow an investigation in open area, so the findings have often been compared with those coming from the deposits investigated in the immediate vicinity, both in front and below the Santa Maria della Scala, in order to obtain a more complete and articulated perspective on a diachronic context. The stratigraphy is developed over a time span ranging from the 7th century BC until the 20th century AD, unearthing a very structured sequence that represents a significant view in understanding the evolutionary dynamics of the urban fabric of Siena: in this regard, it is important to emphasize the fact that the chronological junction on which most attention is focused on is between the Augustian Age and the end of the 14th century, since the survey revealed that the archaeological deposit is better preserved in the time period between the two phases mentioned above and, as a result, the restitution of ceramics has been more complete. The settlement/economic dynamics developed over this extended period in different ways and this is what we are going to analyse: the goal is to develop a dialogue between stratigraphic deposit and material culture, with the aim of understanding the evolution of an urban reality, especially in those phases that led to the crisis of the "classical" city and its consequent transformation and reconfiguration between Late Antiquity and the Early Middle Ages.
