Free Download Scott Christopher, "People People: Who They Are. Why They Win. How to Be One."
English | ISBN: 1423633032 | 2013 | 160 pages | EPUB | 205 KB
If you've ever heard of someone described as "a real people person" and agreed, you no doubt immediately thought "Boy, we could use more people like that!" And you'd be right. There are truths that are universally acknowledged: a people person will smoothly, successfully engage in effective, pleasant human interactions. They are more likely to be promoted, respected, admired, complimented and appreciated than those who simply do not know how to thrive among humans. Simply put, everyone could benefit from being a people person, but many just don't know how or don't know where to find the answers.

Open Borders Encounters Between Italian Philosophy and Continental Thought (Suny Contemporary Italian Philosophy)
Free Download Open Borders: Encounters Between Italian Philosophy and Continental Thought (Suny Contemporary Italian Philosophy) by Silvia Benso, Antonio Calcagno
English | July 2, 2021 | ISBN: 1438482205 | 386 pages | PDF | 1.78 Mb
In order to create a greater dialogue between new and emerging Italian philosophy and established continental traditions of thought, Silvia Benso and Antonio Calcagno bring together the work of well-known figures in Italian philosophy such as Antonio Negri, Roberto Esposito, Remo Bodei, Gianni Vattimo, Massimo Cacciari, and Adriana Cavarero with important thinkers like Schelling, Hegel, Schmitt, Heidegger, Gadamer, Irigaray, Arendt, Deleuze, Guattari, Derrida, and Foucault. In Open Borders, Benso and Calcagno introduce to a larger English-speaking audience the thought of highly regarded late twentieth-century Italian philosophers who seek to redefine concepts such as freedom, interpretation, existence, woman, male-female relationships, realism, emotions, and aesthetics. The diverse contributors to this book often transgress and redefine the limits and insights of philosophy itself and bring to the fore a new body of thinking that offers new ways of self-understanding while deeply engaging the issues and questions of contemporary society.

Once Out of Nature Augustine on Time and the Body
Free Download Andrea Nightingale, "Once Out of Nature: Augustine on Time and the Body"
English | ISBN: 0226585751 | 2011 | 244 pages | PDF | 931 KB
Once Out of Nature offers an original interpretation of Augustine's theory of time and embodiment. Andrea Nightingale draws on philosophy, sociology, literary theory, and social history to analyze Augustine's conception of temporality, eternity, and the human and transhuman condition. In Nightingale's view, the notion of embodiment illuminates a set of problems much larger than the body itself: it captures the human experience of being an embodied soul dwelling on earth. In Augustine's writings, humans live both in and out of nature-exiled from Eden and punished by mortality, they are "resident aliens" on earth. While the human body is subject to earthly time, the human mind is governed by what Nightingale calls psychic time. For the human psyche always stretches away from the present moment-where the physical body persists-into memories and expectations. As Nightingale explains, while the body is present in the here and now, the psyche cannot experience self-presence. Thus, for Augustine, the human being dwells in two distinct time zones, in earthly time and in psychic time. The human self, then, is a moving target. Adam, Eve, and the resurrected saints, by contrast, live outside of time and nature: these transhumans dwell in an everlasting present. Nightingale connects Augustine's views to contemporary debates about transhumans and suggests that Augustine's thought reflects our own ambivalent relationship with our bodies and the earth.

The United States boasts a rich musical diversity. Colonial Americans integrated European traditions with new cultural influences to compose a unique musical identity. African traditions influenced hymns and folk songs that connected people to religion and to the trials and tribulations of everyday life. Patriotic tunes created unity in wartime. America's jazz, blues, rock, and hip-hop continue to evolve from their African-American origins.
