Free Download Discovering Lost Automobiles and their Stories by Michael Ware English | December 14, 2022 | ISBN: 1399019007 | 216 pages | EPUB | 63 Mb Many enthusiasts dream of finding a Bugatti or a Bentley in a barn or a long disused building. In reality, such finds are more likely to be an Austin 7, Ford Popular or a Mini. This book is stuffed with these so called "barn finds". The author has tried to find out the background to the abandonment and the previous history of the "as found" car when it was in regular use. Why was it put away and apparently forgotten? Many of the stories have appeared in his "Lost and Found" column in "Classic and Sports Car" magazine, but a book gives a chance for the expanded story to be told. The cars featured date from 1900 through till the 1980's, most come from Great Britain and Europe but there are plenty from Australasia and USA. There are well over 200 different cars plus collections featured. Each story has at least one illustration to go with it. Some of the locations are bizarre, a Daimler buried under a rockery, a Porsche sunk in Lake Lucerne, a Rolls -Royce on the roof of a high rise building in Karachi, or a Morris 8 special in a Gloucestershire pond. There is a chapter on collections of cars, put together by seemingly eccentric owners who never got around to restoring them before their death. The author is not critical of any of these owners and is grateful for the number of cars they have saved from almost certain destruction.

Free Download Contemplative Ethics: An Introduction By Dennis J. Billy 2011 | 155 Pages | ISBN: 0809146800 | EPUB | 1 MB This book seeks to respond to the challenge put forth by the late Pope John Paul II to all the Catholic faithful to "put out into deep water" (Duc in altum) by contemplating the face of Christ as they navigate the waters of the new millennium. It brings the discussion about the relationship between spirituality and morality to a deeper level of theological discourse by looking at the common ground shared by the action of contemplation and the spiritual moral life. Its aim is to incorporate a contemplative attitude toward life into the methodology, discourse, and way of thinking of Catholic moral theology. After developing a contemplative methodology for the Catholic spiritual moral life, it applies this approach to moral discernment to the Eternal Word, the Incarnate Word, Jesus' life and ministry, his suffering and death, and his risen life. It then offers concrete guidelines for the spiritual moral life that flow directly from this contemplative approach to the mysteries of Christ. To engage its readers at a still deeper level, it offers a series of reflection questions and practical exercises at the end of each chapter. The book emphasizes the close bond between contemplation and action for Christian living and highlights how immersing oneself in the mystery of Christ affects the way a person thinks about the nature and scope of his or her action in the world.
Free Download Conjugal Love and Procreation: Dietrich Von Hildebrand's Superabundant Integration By Kevin Schemenauer 2011 | 125 Pages | ISBN: 0739147064 | EPUB | 1 MB Dietrich von Hildebrand contributed to the Catholic tradition's increased recognition of conjugal love in marriage in the early twentieth century, and, as Kevin Schemenauer argues in Conjugal Love and Procreation, von Hildebrand's work remains relevant to contemporary Catholic thought as well. While some argue that this German Catholic philosopher and theologian neglected the role of procreation in marriage, this book shows that von Hildebrand's writings on reverence and superabundant finality contribute to a contemporary understanding of the significance of procreation within marriage. Schemenauer analyzes von Hildebrand's integration of conjugal love and procreation, showing him to be an insightful and parallel voice to the that of John Paul II. His thorough exploration of von Hildebrand's writings reveals not only how conjugal love and openness to new life are essential to marriage, but also how essential the role of procreation is to the conception of conjugal love.
