This Is How They Tell Me the World Ends The Cyberweapons Arms Race
Free Download This Is How They Tell Me the World Ends: The Cyberweapons Arms Race By Nicole Perlroth
2021 | 528 Pages | ISBN: 1635576067 | EPUB | 3 MB
From The New York Times cybersecurity reporter Nicole Perlroth, the untold story of the cyberweapons market-the most secretive, invisible, government-backed market on earth-and a terrifying first look at a new kind of global warfare. Zero day: a software bug that allows a hacker to break into your devices and move around undetected. One of the most coveted tools in a spy's arsenal, a zero day has the power to silently spy on your iPhone, dismantle the safety controls at a chemical plant, alter an election, and shut down the electric grid (just ask Ukraine). For decades, under cover of classification levels and non-disclosure agreements, the United States government became the world's dominant hoarder of zero days. U.S. government agents paid top dollar-first thousands, and later millions of dollars- to hackers willing to sell their lock-picking code and their silence. Then the United States lost control of its hoard and the market. Now those zero days are in the hands of hostile nations and mercenaries who do not care if your vote goes missing, your clean water is contaminated, or our nuclear plants melt down. Filled with spies, hackers, arms dealers, and a few unsung heroes, written like a thriller and a reference, This Is How They Tell Me the World Ends is an astonishing feat of journalism. Based on years of reporting and hundreds of interviews, The New York Times reporter Nicole Perlroth lifts the curtain on a market in shadow, revealing the urgent threat faced by us all if we cannot bring the global cyber arms race to heel.

In the timber plantations in northeastern South Africa, laborers work long hours among tall, swaying lines of eucalypts, on land once theirs. In 2008, at the height of the HIV/AIDS crisis, timber corporations distributed hot cooked meals as a nutrition intervention to bolster falling productivity and profits. But life and sustenance are about much more than calories and machinic bodies. What is at stake is the nurturing of capacity across all domains of life―physical, relational, cosmological―in the form of

The Vitality of Evangelical Theology Celebrating Etf Leuven at 40
Free Download A. J. Beck, "The Vitality of Evangelical Theology: Celebrating Etf Leuven at 40 "
English | ISBN: 9042948868 | 2022 | 271 pages | PDF | 7 MB
This volume presents the research activities of Evangelische Theologische Faculteit Leuven during the last four decades: a faculty with its location rooted in the heart of Europe and its nature connected to an international academic community. For 40 years now, ETF Leuven is a place where researchers from different cultural and denominational backgrounds and different parts of the world engage in evangelical theology. Through an Introduction and no fewer than eighteen chapters, this volume shows how ETF Leuven fosters a connection between academic research and faithful engagement with faith communities. Each of its six departments discusses past research activities and presents two samples of current research. Nevertheless, the different contributions do not just inform the reader about the essential mission of a theological faculty. This volume offers much more. Taken together, the contributions reflect the vitality of evangelical, and more broadly Christian theology as a benefit to both church and society, particularly in a time when academic theology seems to be vulnerable. The volume includes a foreword by Prof. Miroslav Volf, who interprets the narrative of ETF Leuven within the larger field of academic theology.

"Much as Marcel Proust spun out a lifetime of memories from the taste of a madeleine, The Uranium Club spins out the history of Nazi Germany's failed World War II atomic-bomb project by tracing the whereabouts of a small, blackened cube of Nazi uranium. It's a riveting tale of competing German ambitions and arrogant mistakes, a nonfiction thriller tracking teams of American scientists as they race to prevent Hitler from beating the United States to the atomic bomb." -Richard Rhodes, author of The Making of the Atomic Bomb

The Psalter. PS 90–106 Book Four – PS 90–106 (4)
Free Download Peeters Publishers, "The Psalter. PS 90-106: Book Four - PS 90-106 (4) "
English | ISBN: 9042948523 | 2022 | 281 pages | PDF | 8 MB
The composition of the fourth book is in no way inferior to that of the other four books already analysed. Its three major sections, each containing five psalms, are organised in a concentric fashion; they are linked by two short sections which constitute the focal points of the ellipse that the whole book draws. The extreme sections are related. The first section (Ps 90-94) describes "the fate of the children of Adam", the last one (Ps 102-106) "the fate of the children of Israel". All are subject to the law of human affliction. They are like the grass that flourishes in the morning and withers and dries up in the evening; and sin accompanies frailty. As the refuge of humanity from generation to generation, the Lord saves people by satisfying those who fear him for many days and by assuring his faithfulness to the children of their children, from age to age. Despite their repeated unfaithfulness, God does not grow weary of forgiving them. The central section (Ps 96-100) stands out from the rest of the book, which it overshadows. All peoples are called to come to Jerusalem to worship the King of the universe and to bless him who has saved the chosen people from among all the families of the earth. Carried by the promise of the one God and by the hope of the one people, this invitation is situated on the unattained, but always desired eschatological horizon. The focal points of the ellipsis (Ps 95 and Ps 101) are the key to reading the book. The first one focuses on a wish addressed to humans: "Today if you would only listen to his voice" (Ps 95:7). The second one poses a question to God: "When will you come to me?" (Ps 101:2). Therefore, the whole fourth book is captured in this tension between God's desire and human desire, each going to meet the other, in a "today" whose fragility places every human being between the morning when the grass flourishes and the evening when it dries up, between the time of the fathers, which the last section evokes at length, the time of sin and forgiveness, and the time of salvation and of the end, which the central section contemplates.

The Psalter Book Five PS 107–150
Free Download Roland Meynet, "The Psalter Book Five: PS 107-150 "
English | ISBN: 904295017X | 2022 | 747 pages | PDF | 20 MB
Classical commentaries study each psalm on its own. However, there is a growing trend to look at the composition of the Psalter. The present commentary on the fifth and last "book" of psalms (Ps 107-150) carries out a systematic analysis of the composition of this set of forty-four psalms, at all levels of its organization: first each psalm on its own, followed by each subsequence formed of several psalms, then each sequence, each of the five subsections that constitute the fifth book, and finally the whole section, i.e., the book. The last five psalms (146-150) are, so to speak, outside the system, for they constitute the doxology that concludes not only the fifth book but also the entire Psalter. The composition is extremely elaborate. At the centre of the construction, Ps 119 which is a long meditation on the Law. It is preceded by the "Egyptian Hallel" which celebrates the exodus from the land of slavery (Ps 113-118) and followed by the "Psalms of Ascents" which sing and hope for the return from exile in Babylon (Ps 120-134). Finally, at the extremities, two subsections that correspond to each other: in the psalmist's own words, "From the mouth of deceit to the thanksgiving of the righteous" (Ps 107-112), "From the venom of the serpent to the praise of the righteous" (Ps 135-145). The interpretation of each group of psalms allows us to reach a greater meaning, which clearly exceeds the sum of the interpretations of each of the units that make it up.
