Germanicus Caesar History and Memory
Free Download Pawel Sawinski, "Germanicus Caesar: History and Memory "
English | ISBN: 3515134409 | 2023 | 170 pages | PDF | 42 MB
The historical memory of the principate is for obvious reasons dominated by the emperors, with one exception: Germanicus Caesar, who, though not a ruler, appears in the sources as if he had been one. Chosen by Augustus as his ultimate heir, the embodiment of the dynastic principle, yet never the emperor; put at the head of one third of the Roman army to reconquer Germania, but recalled before the task's completion; the last to hold an imperium which made him almost a co-regent of the emperor, cut short by his sudden death - he reflects like no one the transition of the principate from the Augustan phase to its mature form. Equally significant is the longevity of the memory of his person and the variety of ways in which it was expressed: the only non-emperor commemorated in the Feriale Duranum, he figures on coins struck long after the end of the Julio-Claudians and an edict of his, quoted in a legal text of the 3rd century, appears in the Digesta. To give justice to his memorability, our contributions approach him in the perspective of not only history, classical philology, art history/archaeology and numismatics, but also Egyptology and Roman law.

From Roman to Early Christian Cyprus Studies in Religion and Archaeology
Free Download From Roman to Early Christian Cyprus: Studies in Religion and Archaeology By Laura Nasrallah; Charalambos Bakirtzis; Annemarie Luijendijk
2020 | 340 Pages | ISBN: 3161568737 | PDF | 9 MB
Cyprus was a crossroads in the ancient eastern Mediterranean, a key location between east and west, in which Judaism, Greco-Roman religions, and Christianity intersected, and where Christianity came to flourish. Bringing together scholars of religion and archaeology to study Cyprus in antiquity, this volume's contributions cover a myriad of topics, including the mosaics of Cyprus, its silver treasures, religious tensions between Christians and others, the role of Epiphanius, the story of St. Barnabas, the powerful position of Cyprus as autocephalous within emerging orthodoxy in antiquity, those who used so-called magical texts, those who worked in a harbor, those involved with the transport of building materials, and early representations of Cyprian saints. By drawing on literary, archaeological, and art historical evidence from the first century CE to the medieval period, the volume elucidates the diversity of Christianity in late antique Cyprus, while also discussing relations between Christians, Jews, and members of Greco-Roman religions.

From British to Bumiputera Rule Local Politics and Rural Development in Peninsular Malaysia
Free Download A. B. Shamsul, "From British to Bumiputera Rule: Local Politics and Rural Development in Peninsular Malaysia"
English | 2004 | pages: 304 | ISBN: 9971988062, 9971988224 | PDF | 7,8 mb
Based on two years of intensive fieldwork, this detailed community study breaks new ground. Combining anthropological and historical disciplines, it deals with village politics amongst rural Malays growing oilpalm and rubber. This study traces the continuing influence of the colonial and post-colonial state policies on contemporary rural development. It shows that village political cleavages are not just the result of modern electoral practices introduced after World War II but are responses to politico-economic events at the national and even international levels. It examines not only inter-party rivalry between the United Malays National Organization (UMNO) and Parti Islam SeMalaysia (PAS) but also the intra-party politics of both organizations at the local level.

Foods & Flavors from Nepal
Free Download Foods & Flavors from Nepal by Jyoti Pathak
2023 | ISBN: 0781814375 | English | 326 pages | EPUB | 126 MB
Birthplace of Buddha and home to stunning Himalayan peaks, Nepal is also known for its unique cuisine and rich cultural traditions. Nepal is a landlocked country that had little contact with the outside world for centuries, resulting in a unique culinary culture that was not influenced by other cuisines. After opening borders in the 1950s, however, Nepal's cuisine evolved to take on influences from neighboring India, China and Tibet. Those influences, combined with Nepal's vast cultural and geographic diversity, result in a singular cuisine characterized by the simplicity of fresh local ingredients that are artfully paired with herbs and spices.

Fisheries Exploitation in the Indian Ocean Threats and Opportunities
Free Download Dennis Rumley, Sanjay Chaturvedi, Vijay Sakhuja, "Fisheries Exploitation in the Indian Ocean: Threats and Opportunities"
English | 2009 | pages: 378 | ISBN: 9812309861 | PDF | 4,6 mb
The book aims to further the debate on the impacts of fisheries policies in the Indian Ocean Region in order to facilitate a new regional policy direction. A key argument of the volume is that ecologically sustainable and socially just development and management of Indian Ocean fisheries require a paradigm shift in the perceptions and policies of major stakeholders. A central policy challenge is to identify a collective regional interest for fisheries and accordingly the development of integrated management policies that link ecology and society and which incorporate individuals, communities, agencies, states and regimes into a holistic cooperative endeavour. Successful ocean governance therefore requires greater inter-state and inter-agency consultation and cooperation, an improvement in linking national initiatives to local action, increased participation of local government and local communities and the enhancement of local capability. In order to achieve this overall goal requires either the enhancement of existing regional institutions or the creation of a new regional body.

SQL Injection is one of the most commonly exploited injection vulnerabilities in web applications and poses a serious security risk to organizations. As a web application pentester or bug bounty hunter, it is vitally important to understand what causes SQL Injection vulnerabilities, how they can be identified and how they can be exploited.
The ability for attackers to run arbitrary queries against vulnerable systems can result in data exposure, modification, and in some cases, entire system compromise.

Every Cripple a Superhero
Free Download Christoph Keller, "Every Cripple a Superhero"
English | 2022 | ISBN: 0241593212, 1802060995 | 192 pages | EPUB | 4 MB
Most stories of disability follow a familiar pattern: Life Before Accident. Life After Accident. For Christoph Keller, it was different: his childhood diagnosis with a form of Spinal Muscular Atrophy only revealed what had been with him since birth. SMA III, the 'kindest one', allows those who have it to live a long life, and it progresses slowly. There is no cure. By the age of 25, he had to use a wheelchair some of the time. 'There were two of me: Walking Me. Rolling Me.' By 32, he could still walk into a restaurant with a cane or on somebody's arm. At 45, 'Rolling Me' took over altogether.
