Using intersectionality as a theoretical framework, Davis addresses the significance of the various identities of high-achieving Black women in college individually and collectively, revealing the ways institutional oppression functions at historically white institutions and in social interactions on and off campus. Based on interviews with collegiate Black women in honors communities, Free Download Embracing the Black Swan: How Resilient Organizations Survive and Thrive in the face of Geopolitical and Macroeconomic Risks by Khalil Dindarian English | PDF EPUB (True) | 2023 | 244 Pages | ISBN : 3031293436 | 9.5 MB Our world is becoming ever more complex. Free Download Poveda Arias, "Bishops under Threat: Contexts and Episcopal Strategies in the Late Antique and Early Medieval West " English | ISBN: 3110769530 | 2023 | 512 pages | EPUB, PDF | 2 MB + 3 MB The late antique and the early medieval periods witnessed the flourishing of bishops in the West as the main articulators of social life. This influential position exposed them to several threats, both political and religious. Researchers have generally addressed violence, rebellions or conflicts to study the dynamics related to secular powers during these periods. They haven't paid similar attention, however, to those analogous contexts that had bishops as protagonists. This book proposes an approach to bishops as threatened subjects in the late antique and early medieval West. In particular, the volume pursues three main goals. Firstly, it aims to identify the different types of threats that bishops had to deal with. Then it sets out to frame these situations of adversity in their own contexts. Finally, it will address the episcopal strategies deployed to deal with such contexts of adversity. In sum, we aim to underline the impact that these contexts had as a dynamiting factor of episcopal action. Thus the episcopal threats may become a useful approach to study the bishops' relationships with other agents of power, the motivations behind their actions and - last but not least - for understanding the episcopal rising power Free Download Birth Control: The Insidious Power of Men over Motherhood by Allison Yarrow English | July 18, 2023 | ISBN: 1541619315 | True EPUB | 304 pages | 1.8 MB This "definitive book about the trauma and tragedy of the American childbirth experience" (Soraya Chemaly, author of Rage Becomes Her) exposes the dangerous misogyny that permeates pregnancy, birth, and early motherhood. Free Download Birds, Beasts and Burials: A Study of the Human-Animal Relationship in Romano-British St. Albans By Brittany Elayne Hill 2017 | 202 Pages | ISBN: 1784915963 | PDF | 5 MB The human-animal relationship is one that has been pondered by scholars for ages. It has been used to define both what it means to be human and what it means to be animal. Birds, Beasts and Burials examines human-animal relationships as found in the mortuary record within the area of Verulamium that is now situated in the modern town of St. Albans. Once considered a major centre, the mortuary rites given to its people suggest high variabilities in the approach to the personhood of certain classes of both people and animals. While 480 human individuals were examined, only a small percentage was found to have been afforded the rite of a human-animal co-burial. It is this small percentage that is examined in greater detail. Of major concern are the treatments to both the human and animal pre- and post- burial and the point at which the animal enters into the funerary practice. |
