Computational Methods for Fluid Flow
Free Download Computational Methods for Fluid Flow by Roger Peyret , Thomas D. Taylor
English | PDF | 1983 | 364 Pages | ISBN : 354013851X | 30 MB
In developing this book, we decided to emphasize applications and to provide methods for solving problems. As a result, we limited the mathematical devel opments and we tried as far as possible to get insight into the behavior of numerical methods by considering simple mathematical models. The text contains three sections. The first is intended to give the fundamen tals of most types of numerical approaches employed to solve fluid-mechanics problems. The topics of finite differences, finite elements, and spectral meth ods are included, as well as a number of special techniques. The second section is devoted to the solution of incompressible flows by the various numerical approaches. We have included solutions of laminar and turbulent-flow prob lems using finite difference, finite element, and spectral methods. The third section of the book is concerned with compressible flows. We divided this last section into inviscid and viscous flows and attempted to outline the methods for each area and give examples.

Computational Intelligence in Information Assurance and Security
Free Download Computational Intelligence in Information Assurance and Security by Nadia Nedjah, Ajith Abraham, Luiza de Macedo Mourelle
English | PDF | 2007 | 269 Pages | ISBN : 3540710779 | 11 MB
The global economic infrastructure is becoming increasingly dependent upon information technology, with computer and communication technology being essential and vital components of Government facilities, power plant systems, medical infrastructures, financial centers and military installations to name a few. Finding effective ways to protect information systems, networks and sensitive data within the critical information infrastructure is challenging even with the most advanced technology and trained professionals. This volume provides the academic and industrial community with a medium for presenting original research and applications related to information assurance and security using computational intelligence techniques. The included chapters communicate current research on information assurance and security regarding both the theoretical and methodological aspects, as well as various applications in solving real world information security problems using computational intelligence.

Composite Mechanics
Free Download Composite Mechanics by Andreas Öchsner
English | EPUB (True) | 2023 | 214 Pages | ISBN : 3031323890 | 27.1 MB
This book in the advanced structured materials series provides first an introduction to the mircomechanics of fiber-reinforced laminae, which deals with the prediction of the macroscopic mechanical lamina properties based on the mechanical properties of the constituents, i.e., fibers and matrix. Composite materials, especially fiber-reinforced composites, are gaining increasing importance since they can overcome the limits of many structures based on classical metals. Particularly, the combination of a matrix with fibers provides far better properties than the constituents alone. Despite their importance, many engineering degree programs do not treat the mechanical behavior of this class of advanced structured materials in detail, at least on the bachelor's degree level. Thus, some engineers are not able to thoroughly apply and introduce these modern engineering materials in their design process.

When American-born Haim Watzman immigrated to Israel, he was drafted into the army and, after eighteen months of compulsory service, was assigned to Company C, the reserve infantry unit that would define the next twenty years of his life. From 1984 until 2002, for at least a month a year, Watzman, who had never aspired to military adventure, was a soldier.

Communicating Race, Ethnicity, and Identity in Technical Communication
Free Download Miriam Williams, Octavio Pimentel, "Communicating Race, Ethnicity, and Identity in Technical Communication"
English | 2014 | pages: 190 | ISBN: 0895038323, 0895038315 | PDF | 1,5 mb
The purpose of this book is to move our field's discussion beyond issues of diversity in the practice of technical communication, which is certainly important, to include discussions of how race and ethnicity inform the production and distribution of technical communication in the United States. Equally important, this book is an attempt to uncover those communicative practices used to adversely affect historically marginalized groups and identify new practices that can be used to encourage cultural competence within institutions and communities. This book, like our field, is an interdisciplinary effort. While all authors have taught or practiced technical communication, their backgrounds include studies in technical communication, rhetoric and composition, creative writing, and higher education.

Common Minds Themes from the Philosophy of Philip Pettit
Free Download Geoffrey Brennan, Robert Goodin, Frank Jackson, "Common Minds: Themes from the Philosophy of Philip Pettit"
English | 2007 | pages: 360 | ISBN: 0199218161 | PDF | 2,5 mb
During a career spanning over thirty years Philip Pettit has made seminal contributions in moral philosophy, political philosophy, philosophy of the social sciences, philosophy of mind and action, and metaphysics. His many contributions would be remarkable enough in themselves, but they are made all the more remarkable by the ways in which Pettit connects them with each other. Pettit holds that the lessons learned when thinking about problems in one area of philosophy often constitute ready-made solutions to problems we faced in completely different areas. His body of work taken as a whole provides a vivid example of what philosophy looks like when done with that conviction.
