Free Download Fertility, Family, and Social Welfare between France and Empire: The Colonial Politics of Population English | 2023 | ISBN: 3031260236 | 375 Pages | PDF EPUB (True) | 3 MB This edited volume focuses on social welfare and medicine within the French Empire and brings together important currents in both imperial history and the history of medicine. The book covers a broad period from the 'first colonial empires' that existed prior to 1830, the 'new imperialism' of the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, the process of decolonisation in the mid-twentieth century, and the 'afterlives' of colonial regimes in France and newly-independent states. Building on recent scholarship, this volume examines the extension of imperialism into the post-colonial period. The chapters examine a range of topics developing our understanding of the reasons why colonial states saw the family as a site for biopolitical intervention. The authors argue that experts built a racialised body of knowledge about colonial populations through census data and medical understandings of problems such as child mortality and infertility. They show that by analysing and compiling data on fertility, population growth (or decline), and health, this fuelled interventions designed to ensure a stable workforce, and that protecting children and mothers, vaccinating vulnerable populations, and creating modern, sanitary housing were all initiatives also aimed at serving larger goals of preserving colonial rule. Finally, the book shows that social welfare projects during the French Empire reflected concerns about race, differential fertility, and migration that continued well after decolonisation.

Free Download Gary Genosko, "Felix Guattari: An Aberrant Introduction (Transversals: New Directions in Philosophy)" English | 2002 | pages: 282 | ISBN: 0826460348, 082646033X | PDF | 1,9 mb This is the first detailed assessment of the life and work of Felix Guattari-Mr. Anti as the French press labelled him-the friend of and collaborator with Gilles Deleuze, Jacques Lacan and Antonio Negri, and one of the 20th Century's last great activist-intellectuals. Guattari is widely known for his celebrated writings with Deleuze, but these writings do not represent the true breadth and impact of his thinking, writing and activism. Guattari's major work as a clinical and theoretical innovator in psychoanalysis was closely linked to his participation in struggles against European right-wing politics. Felix Guattari introduces the reader to the diversity and sheer range of Guattari's interests, from anti-psychiatry, to Japanese culture, political activism and his theorizing of subjectification. Highlighting why Guattari's work is of increasing relevance to contemporary political, psychoanalytical and philosophical thought, Felix Guattari: An Aberrant Introduction presents the reader with an adventurous and provocative introduction to this radical thinker. Free Download Feeding the Hustle: Free Food & Care Inside the Tech Industry English | 2022 | ISBN: 1793635013 | 178 Pages | PDF (True) | 4 MB In Feeding the Hustle, Jesse Dart draws on ethnographic fieldwork to consider the ways in which free food has become ubiquitous and even compulsory within the tech industry. Packed lunches have nearly disappeared as more companies provide free food with the stated objectives of attracting and retaining employees, increasing productivity, and creating a sense of community through commensality. Dart demonstrates how these food programs alter the relationship between employer and employee, support a flexible type of workforce, and reveal a commensality that is both exclusionary and inclusionary. Free Download Feature and Dimensionality Reduction for Clustering with Deep Learning English | 2024 | ISBN: 3031487427 | 460 Pages | PDF EPUB (True) | 34 MB This book presents an overview of recent methods of feature selection and dimensionality reduction that are based on Deep Neural Networks (DNNs) for a clustering perspective, with particular attention to the knowledge discovery question. The authors first present a synthesis of the major recent influencing techniques and "tricks" participating in recent advances in deep clustering, as well as a recall of the main deep learning architectures. Secondly, the book highlights the most popular works by "family" to provide a more suitable starting point from which to develop a full understanding of the domain. Overall, the book proposes a comprehensive up-to-date review of deep feature selection and deep clustering methods with particular attention to the knowledge discovery question and under a multi-criteria analysis. The book can be very helpful for young researchers, non-experts, and R&D AI engineers.
