The Korean Wave in a Post–Pandemic World BTS, Cosmax and Squid Game
Free Download The Korean Wave in a Post-Pandemic World: BTS, Cosmax and Squid Game by Geon-Cheol Shin , Mark D. Whitaker
English | PDF (True) | 2023 | 755 Pages | ISBN : 9819936829 | 7 MB
This book presents an analysis of how the economic Korean Miracle spread into the cultural "Korean Wave" (Hallyu). First only in Asian countries and then around the world, the rising popularity of the Korean Wave continued within the pandemic-despite or even because of policies of digital lockdowns. Partially, this has been by design as Korea for decades has had a very strong fast development drive in telecommunications and that aided the growth of its cultural wave. Partially however, this became exclusively by default how the Korean Wave had to spread increasingly in a digital manner after 2020 globally, in response to many countries' rules regarding the COVID-19 pandemic in their attempts to enforce a decline in face-to-face content consumption. In retrospect, this has meant only more digital growth and innovation for the Korean Wave in past years compared to other cultures' entertainment complexes that suffered more. Korea's earlier digital readiness combined with later lockdown conditions and pushed the Korean Wave further ahead.

The Kantian Subject
Free Download Fernando M. F. Silva, "The Kantian Subject"
English | ISBN: 1032521937 | 2023 | 236 pages | EPUB, PDF | 2 MB + 17 MB
This book presents a critical reconsideration of the Kantian cognitive and practical subject. Special attention is devoted to highlighting the complex relation between subjectivity as it is presented in the three critiques and the way in which it is construed in other writings, in particular the Anthropology. While for Kant our cognitive apparatus and the structure of our will are common to all humans, the anthropological subject reveals degrees of variation, depending on a myriad of external circumstances that pose a challenge to the unity of Kant's account and await theoretical solutions.

The Kansas Blue Sky Act of 1911 An Experiment in Securities Regulation and its Impact
Free Download The Kansas Blue Sky Act of 1911: An Experiment in Securities Regulation and its Impact by David Ress
English | EPUB (True) | 2023 | 161 Pages | ISBN : 3031438302 | 2.5 MB
This Palgrave Pivot presents the first in-depth study of the pioneering Kansas Blue Sky Act of 1911, the first effort in American financial history to regulate the sale of securities in the US. Though offering a balanced examination of critiques of the legislation as a barrier to individual liberty, interstate commerce, and economic growth, the author challenges the prevailing view of the Kansas Act as a complete anomaly, instead exploring sensitively what 'blue sky laws' can tell us about small-town market values during the nineteenth-century.

The Japan Lectures
Free Download Michel Foucault, "The Japan Lectures"
English | ISBN: 1032301740 | 2023 | 198 pages | EPUB, PDF | 310 KB + 6 MB
This book makes available, for the first time in English, lectures and interviews that Foucault gave in Japan in 1978, reconstructing their context, and isolating the question of their singular relevance for us today. In these forgotten lectures, in a free and often informal style, Foucault explores, together with his Japanese interlocutors, what it would mean to take up, from outside Europe, the questions he was raising at the time about Revolution and Enlightenment in the traditions of European critical thought. In a series of wide-ranging discussions, on sexuality and its history, non-Christian forms of spirituality, new forms of political movements, and the role of knowledge, power, and truth in them, Foucault examines these questions in relationship to Asia. He had hoped these questions, very much debated at the time in postwar Japan, would be the start of new forms of translation, publication, and exchange. At the heart of the lectures is thus a search for the creation of a new sort of transnational collaboration, recasting the history of European colonialism and opening to a philosophy no longer simply Western, yet to come.

The Jacobite Wars
Free Download John L Roberts, "The Jacobite Wars"
English | ISBN: 1902930290 | 2002 | 224 pages | PDF | 24 MB
The Jacobite Wars is a detailed exploration of the Jacobite military campaigns of 1715 and 1745, set against the background of Scottish political, religious and constitutional history. The author has written a clear and demythologised account of the military campaigns waged by the Jacobites against the Hanoverian monarchs. He draws on the work of recent historians who have come to emphasise the political significance of the rebellions (which had been dismissed by earlier historians), showing the danger faced by the Hanoverian regime during those years of political and religious turbulence. The Jacobite rebellions of 1715 and 1745 occurred within the context of the 1707 Act of Union, acquiring the trappings of a national crusade to restore Scotland's independence. James Edward Stuart promised consistently to break the Union between Scotland and England if he became King. The rebellions also had great religious significance: the Jacobite cause was committed to restoring a Catholic dynasty to the throne and was therefore supported by the small number of Catholics in the country, and also the Episcopalians, who were together set against the Presbyterians. The failure of the rebellions, culminating in the Battle of Culloden, coincided with the national identity of Scotland becoming associated with Presbyterianism and North Britain.John L. Roberts presents the view that the political vulnerability of Hanoverians would explain the strength of Government reaction to the 1745 rebellion, especially in the Scottish Highlands, and the ferocity of its retribution, which has long been lamented in popular Scottish culture.
