The Intimacy of Consciousness Exploration and Transpersonal Psychotherapy
Free Download Rainer Pervöltz Ingo B. Jahrsetz, Regina U. Hess, Judith Miller, "The Intimacy of Consciousness Exploration and Transpersonal Psychotherapy"
English | ISBN: 1527502937 | 2017 | 185 pages | PDF | 730 KB
This volume brings together a group of transpersonal psychotherapists and spiritual teachers to tell of their own very personal and intimate explorations of consciousness. What has the experience of coming home meant to them? Has it meant connecting with God, the Divine Feminine, the Cosmos, the Sacred? Has it meant arriving at home in themselves, in their very center, in their essence? Where is home? Is it inside, is it outside, or is it both? All world cultures have stories about this particular place. In addition to describing their own unique quests, the contributors also share how radically such a journey challenged them to face their own vulnerabilities and shadow parts. Various, very different and often startling personal stories are told. Through reading of the very human trials and psycho-spiritual challenges that these nine international teachers have endured on their journeys home, readers will gain insights and greater understanding regarding their own explorations of consciousness. They will realize that the spiritual journey can have many faces and take many paths. The one thing, however, that all authors have in common, is the longing to be fully and wholly oneself.

The Internal Structure of Personal Pronouns
Free Download Danniel Carvalho, "The Internal Structure of Personal Pronouns"
English | ISBN: 1527503127 | 2017 | 148 pages | PDF | 645 KB
This book explores the internal structure of personal pronouns in Brazilian Portuguese, with a special emphasis on the first-person singular, which exhibits severe syncretism in this language. This study is an investigation into the formative features of pronouns in Brazilian Portuguese and their relationship with the phenomenon of syncretism. Empirically, this book provides a description of the internal structure of personal pronouns in Brazilian Portuguese, showing that the traditional phi-features used to construct a pronoun (person, number, gender, and case) are actually categories which encompass more elemental features which define the content and the shape of a pronoun. It shows that more elementary component structures of the person, number, gender and case categories are able to satisfactorily describe the pronoun system in Brazilian Portuguese, meaning that different pronouns (and their syntactic roles) may be described based on their inner composition. In terms of theory, this book defines which elementary formative features form a pronoun, how these features are composed, and what the syntactic consequences are.

The Insurrectionist Major General Edwin A. Walker and the Birth of the Deep State Conspiracy
Free Download Peter Adams, "The Insurrectionist: Major General Edwin A. Walker and the Birth of the Deep State Conspiracy"
English | ISBN: 0807179922 | 2023 | 280 pages | EPUB | 2 MB
Peter Adams's The Insurrectionist is the first comprehensive biography of Major General Edwin A. Walker, a figure who, in the 1950s and 1960s, became a leader of a far-right political movement known for its elaborate conspiracy theories, authoritarianism, and uncompromising white supremacy. Sixty years before the January 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol, Edwin Walker was charged with insurrection and seditious conspiracy. He was arrested on orders from the attorney general after leading a deadly riot against federal marshals as they protected the first African American student attempting to register at the University of Mississippi. Those who flocked to Walker's side believed an invisible government working with coconspirators in the Kremlin and United Nations would soon enslave America under a one-world dictatorship. Walker's deep state conspiracy theory has echoed through American political culture into the age of QAnon, finding a new home among today's far-right extremists.

The Insecurity State Vulnerable Autonomy and the Right to Security in the Criminal Law
Free Download Peter Ramsay, "The Insecurity State: Vulnerable Autonomy and the Right to Security in the Criminal Law "
English | ISBN: 0199581061 | 2012 | 300 pages | EPUB | 2 MB
The Insecurity State is a book about the recent emergence of a 'right to security' in the UK's criminal law. The Insecurity State sets out from a detailed analysis of the law of the Anti-Social Behavior Order and of the Coalition government's proposed replacement for it. It shows that the liabilities contained in both seek to protect a 'freedom from fear' and that this 'right to security' explains a lot of other recently enacted criminal offences. This book identifies the normative source of this right to security in the idea of vulnerable autonomy. It demonstrates that the vulnerability of autonomy is an axiomatic assumption of political theories that have enjoyed a preponderant influence right across the political mainstream. It considers the influence of these normative commitments on the policy of both the New Labour and the Coalition governments.

The Implications of Evolution for Metaphysics Theism, Idealism, and Naturalism
Free Download David H. Gordon, "The Implications of Evolution for Metaphysics: Theism, Idealism, and Naturalism"
English | ISBN: 1666923729 | 2023 | 364 pages | EPUB, PDF | 1061 KB + 3 MB
After the nineteenth-century "turn from idealism," when idealist philosophies were largely abandoned for materialist ones, many analytic philosophers have adhered to scientific naturalism as the new orthodoxy, largely due to the success of scientific advancements. The New Atheists, such as Daniel Dennett and Richard Dawkins, claim it is Darwin who deserves much of the credit for repudiating the traditional Mind-first world view. In The Implications of Evolution for Metaphysics: Theism, Idealism, and Naturalism, David H. Gordon explores questions such as: Is it true that evolution is incompatible with theism and necessarily results in naturalism? Is it possible, as naturalism maintains, that everything can be reduced to physical processes? Or are there too many recalcitrant phenomena that defy reduction? Can the epistemological conditions for metaphysical knowledge be met? If the underdetermination of theory allows for multiple metaphysical theories to cover the same phenomena, with each offering an epistemically adequate explanation, then neither naturalism nor theism can be asserted to be objectively true. Nevertheless, it is possible to favor one over the other based on overall coherence and explanatory power.

The Illusion of the Post–Colonial State Governance and Security Challenges in Africa
Free Download W. Alade Fawole, "The Illusion of the Post-Colonial State: Governance and Security Challenges in Africa "
English | ISBN: 1498564607 | 2018 | 254 pages | EPUB | 967 KB
This book challenges the long-held conventional wisdom that Africa is a post-colonial society of sovereign nation-states despite the outward attributes of statehood: demarcated territories, permanent populations, governments, national currencies, police, and armed forces. While it is true that African nation-states have been gifted flag independence by their respective colonial masters, few have reached fully developed status as a secure nation-state. Most African nation-states have, since independence, been grappling with the crisis of state-building, nation-building, governance, and myriad security challenges which have been chronically exacerbated by the dynamics of the post-Cold War era. To focus merely on the agency of the African political elite and their inability to sustain functional modern nation-states misses the point. The central argument of the book is that an understanding of Africa's contemporary governance and security challenges requires us to historicize the discourse surrounding nation-building and state-building throughout Africa.
