Merriam (Jessie Page Heroy Professor of Geology and Chairman) English | PDF | 1972 | 272 Pages | ISBN : 1468419978 | 24.2 MB This volume reports the results of a symposium held in Heidelberg during the International Sedimentological Congress in late August and early September, 1971. The symposium, co sponsored by the International Association for Mathematical Geology, entertained the subject, "Mathematical Models of Sedimentary Processes. " The subject is most appropriate because sedimentologists have long been concerned with processes and mechanisms of sedi ment dispersal. Much effort has gone into building physical models such as flumes, stream tables, wave tanks, wind tunnels, etc. , to help understand sedimentological processes. Quantita tive methods (especially statistics) have been utilized in summarizing these data. It is timely then with the recent developments of simulation and application of computer tech niques that a symposium be addressed to the use of "Mathematical Models of Sedimentary Processes" involving some of these new statistically oriented methods and available data bases. Experimentation in geology has been hampered by a scale factor. That is, it is difficult to find suitab. 1e materials for physical models; it is difficult to find a mechanical de vice which properly represents the forces involved; it is almost impossible to allow adequately for geologic time. Sta tistically valid models are difficult to obtain with physical models because of material replicate problems. Most problems including the time factor, however, can be eliminated with mathematical models. Mathematical models can be infinitely varied in any number of combinations easily and quickly with the computer.
![]() Free Download Mathematical Modelling and Simulation of Electrical Circuits and Semiconductor Devices: Proceedings of a Conference held at the Mathematisches Forschungsinstitut, Oberwolfach, October 30 - November 5, 1988 by R. E. Bank, K. Merten, R. Bulirsch English | PDF | 1990 | 298 Pages | ISBN : 3034857004 | 21.8 MB Numerical simulation and modelling of electric circuits and semiconductor devices are of primal interest in today's high technology industries. At the Oberwolfach Conference more than forty scientists from around the world, in cluding applied mathematicians and electrical engineers from industry and universities, presented new results in this area of growing importance. The contributions to this conference are presented in these proceedings. They include contributions on special topics of current interest in circuit and device simulation, as well as contributions that present an overview of the field. In the semiconductor area special lectures were given on mixed finite element methods and iterative procedures for the solution of large linear systems. For three dimensional models new discretization procedures including software packages were presented. Con nections between semiconductor equations and the Boltzmann equation were shown as well as relations to the quantum transport equation. Other issues discussed in this area include the design of simulation programs for semiconductors, vectorcomputers, and interface problems in several dimensions. Topics discussed in the area of circuit simulation include the index classification of differential-algebraic systems, connections with ill-posed problems, and regularization techniques. Split discretization procedures were given for the efficient calculation of periodic solutions of circuits taking into acount the latency. Homotopy methods and new numerical techniques for differential-algebraic systems were presented, and im provements of special numerical methods for standard software packages were sug gested. Zorich, "Mathematical Analysis II " English | ISBN: 3662569663 | 2016 | 740 pages | EPUB | 14 MB This second English edition of a very popular two-volume work presents a thorough first course in analysis, leading from real numbers to such advanced topics as differential forms on manifolds; asymptotic methods; Fourier, Laplace, and Legendre transforms; elliptic functions; and distributions. Especially notable in this course are the clearly expressed orientation toward the natural sciences and the informal exploration of the essence and the roots of the basic concepts and theorems of calculus. Clarity of exposition is matched by a wealth of instructive exercises, problems, and fresh applications to areas seldom touched on in textbooks on real analysis.

![]() Free Download Susan Woodall, "Material Setting and Reform Experience in English Institutions for Fallen Women, 1838-1910: Inside the 'Homes of Mercy' " English | ISBN: 3031405706 | 2023 | 336 pages | PDF | 11 MB Tracing the history of four English case studies, this book explores how, from outward appearance to interior furnishings, the material worlds of reform institutions for 'fallen' women reflected their moral purpose and shaped the lived experience of their inmates. Variously known as asylums, refuges, magdalens, penitentiaries, Houses or Homes of Mercy, the goal of such institutions was the moral 'rehabilitation' of unmarried but sexually experienced 'fallen' women. Largely from the working-classes, such women - some of whom had been sex workers - were represented in contradictory terms. Morally tainted and a potential threat to respectable family life, they were also worthy of pity and in need of 'saving' from further sin. Fuelled by rising prostitution rates, from the early decades of the nineteenth century the number of moral reform institutions for 'fallen' women expanded across Britain and Ireland. Through a programme of laundry, sewing work and regular religious instruction, the period of institutionalisation and moral re-education of around two years was designed to bring about a change in behaviour, readying inmates for economic self-sufficiency and re-entry into society in respectable domestic service. To achieve their goal, institutional authorities deployed an array of ritual, material, religious and disciplinary tools, with mixed results. ![]() Free Download Rebecca Kosick, "Material Poetics in Hemispheric America: Words and Objects 1950-2010" English | ISBN: 1474474616 | 2022 | 240 pages | PDF | 14 MB Reconsiders the lyrical norm that predominates in Anglophone accounts of poetry through a multilingual and transnational lens ![]() Free Download Mastering Advanced Rhinoplasty By Wolfgang Gubisch English | PDF,EPUB | 2018 | 940 Pages | ISBN : 3319675362 | 319.28 MB This clearly structured and beautifully illustrated atlas, which includes numerous high-quality pre-, intra-, and postoperative pictures, documents the techniques employed in order to deal with the problems typically encountered following a previous failed rhinoplasty.
