Tom Thomson artist of the North
Free Download Tom Thomson: artist of the North By Larsen, Wayne;Thomson, Tom
2011 | 189 Pages | ISBN: 1554887720 | EPUB | 1 MB
Tom Thomson (1877-1917) occupies a prominent position in Canada's national culture and has become a celebrated icon for his magnificent landscapes as well as for his brief life and mysterious death. The shy, enigmatic artist and woodsman's innovative painting style produced such seminal Canadian images as The Jack Pine and The West Wind, while his untimely drowning nearly a century ago is still a popular subject of fierce debate. Originally a commercial artist, Thomson fell in love with the forests and lakes of Ontario's Algonquin Park and devoted himself to rendering the north country's changing seasons in a series of colourful sketches and canvases. Dividing his time between his beloved wilderness and a shack behind the Studio Building near downtown Toronto, Thomson was a major inspiration to his painter friends who, not long after his death, went on to change the course of Canadian art as the influential - and equally controversial - Group of Seven.

To the lighthouse
Free Download To the lighthouse By Lee, Hermione;McNichol, Stella
2000 | 267 Pages | ISBN: 0141183411 | EPUB | 1 MB
It is at once a vivid impressionist depiction of a family holiday, and a meditation on a marriage, on parenthood and childhood, on grief, tyranny and bitterness. Its use of stream of consciousness, reminiscence and shifting perspectives, give the novel an intimate, poetic essence, and at the time of publication in 1927 it represented an utter rejection of Victorian and Edwardian literary values

Free Download Joe Mynhardt, Ben Baldwin, "Things Slip Through (Clifton Heights)"
English | 2013 | pages: 324 | ISBN: 0992170702 | EPUB | 3,7 mb
The ground-breaking horror collection by New York author, Kevin Lucia. Meet Chris Baker, the new sheriff of the quiet Adirondack town of Clifton Heights. As one inexplicable case after another forces him to confront the townsfolk in The Skylark Diner, it's the furtive Gavin Patchett that hands Chris a collection of not-so-fictional short stories that tumbles him into a world of sliding monsters, ageless demons and vengeful citizens. As Chris reads through the stories the veil starts to lift, and he soon questions what is real and what's not, and whether he really wants to know. Nothing will ever be the same again. "An impressive debut collection from one of the horror genre's best new authors. Lucia is a true craftsman of the horror story, with a fine sense of the genre's best traditions." Norman Prentiss, Bram Stoker Award-winning author of Invisible Fences and The Fleshless Man "Lucia's Things Slip Through serves itself up as both a short story collection and a complete, cohesive novel all at once-a chimeric concoction of honest, heartfelt, and truly frightening prose that should not be missed. Highly recommended." Ronald Malfi, author of Floating Staircase

There's No Such Thing as a Sexual Relationship Two Lessons on Lacan
Free Download Alain Badiou, "There's No Such Thing as a Sexual Relationship: Two Lessons on Lacan "

Published in 1973, "L'Etourdit" was one of the French philosopher Jacques Lacan's most important works. The book posed questions that traversed the entire body of Lacan's psychoanalytical explorations, including his famous idea that "there is no such thing as a sexual relationship," which seeks to undermine our certainties about intimacy and reality.

Theatre and Learning
Free Download Art Babayants, "Theatre and Learning"
English | ISBN: 1443872423 | 2015 | 255 pages | PDF | 2 MB
As early as Plato, theorists acknowledged the power of theatre as a way of teaching young minds. Similarly, starting with Plato, philosophers occasionally adopted an anti-theatrical stance, worried by the "dangers" theatre posed to society. The relationships between learning and theatre have never been seen as straightforward, obvious, or without contradictions. This volume investigates the complexity of the intersection of theatre and learning, addressing both the theoretical and practical aspects of it. In three sections-Reflecting, Risking, and Re-imagining-theatre researchers, education scholars, and theatre practitioners consider the tensions, frictions and failures that make learning through theatre, in theatre and about theatre interesting, engaging, and challenging. Theatre and Learning originates from the proceedings of the 20th Festival of Original Theatre (F.O.O.T.), which took place in February 2012 at the University of Toronto. The book contains academic articles and interviews, as well as position, reflection and provocation papers from both established researchers in the field of Applied Theatre, such as Professor Helen Nicholson and Professor Kathleen Gallagher, as well as experienced and emergent scholars in Education, Theatre, Dance and Performance Studies. It also introduces the unorthodox work of the pre-eminent Swedish director and inventor of Babydrama, Suzanne Osten, to the academic audience. Theatre and Learning will be interesting to a wide range of audiences, such as theatre artists and students, theatre researchers and educators, and will be particularly useful for those teaching Theatre Theory and Practice, including Applied Theatre, in higher education.
