Free Download Multiphase reacting flows: modelling and simulation by Daniele L. Marchisio, Rodney O. Fox English | PDF | 2007 | 274 Pages | ISBN : 321172463X | 15.1 MB This book entitled ''Multiphase reacting flows: modelling and simulation'' contains the lecture notes of the CISM (International Centre for Mechanical Sciences) course held in Udine, Italy, on July 3-7, 2006, and it describes various modelling approaches for dealing with polydisperse multiphase reacting flows. A multiphase reacting system is characterized by the presence of multiple phases and in this book we focus on disperse multiphase systems, where one phase can be considered as a continuum, whereas the additional phases are dispersed in the continuous one. In other words, in this book we deal with multiphase systems constituted by particles, droplets or bubbles (i.e., solid particles suspended in a continuous liquid phase, liquid droplets in a gaseous phase, or gas bubbles in liquid.) The other important characteristic elements of the systems discussed in this book are the presence of one or more chemical reactions and the turbulent nature of the flow. The chemical reactions usually involve all the phases present in the system and might be responsible for the formation or disappearance of the disperse and/or continuous phases. The evolution of the different phases is not only governed by chemical reactions, but also by other fluid-dynamical interactions between the continuous and the disperse phases, and by interactions among elements of the disperse phases, such as coalescence, aggregation, agglomeration and break-up.
Free Download Multiphase Reactors: Reaction Engineering Concepts, Selection, and Industrial Applications by Jan Harmsen English | April 27, 2023 | ISBN: 3110713764 | 344 pages | MOBI | 4.33 Mb This Multiphase Reactors book is about fundamentals, selection, design, development (scale-up) and applications of two- and three-phase reactors. It is a graduate textbook focused on creating understanding of the fundamentals, as much as possible without resorting to mathematics. It also is full of real-life industrial applications and examples from the authors' own experiences. The target audience comprises students and industrial practitioners who may or may not have had formal training in chemical reaction engineering. Each chapter explains the subject and contains take home messages, examples, worked out cases, quiz questions, and exercises. Free Download Steph Ainsworth, "Multimodality and Multilingualism: Towards an Integrative Approach" English | ISBN: 1800413386 | 2023 | 264 pages | PDF | 6 MB This book explores the ways in which multimodality and multilingualism as areas of study intersect and provides empirical examples of how this looks in practice from a wide range of settings. The chapters include visual as well as linguistic descriptions of practice and provide an accessible introduction to multimodality and multilingualism for a readership from undergraduate students to researchers. The book argues that the everyday practices of multilingual communities are multimodal in nature, and that by working at the intersection of multilingualism and multimodality we may be able to make fruitful advances in multiple areas of applied linguistics, and properly appreciate the actual human complexities of communication.

Affective computing refers to studying and developing systems that recognize, interpret, process, and simulate human emotions. It has recently seen significant advances from exploratory studies to real-world applications. Free Download Multimedia Watermarking: Latest Developments and Trends by Aditya Kumar Sahu English | PDF EPUB (True) | 2024 | 143 Pages | ISBN : 9819998026 | 10.6 MB Multimedia watermarking is a key ingredient for integrity verification, transaction tracking, copyright protection, authentication, copy control, and forgery detection. This book provides an extensive survey from the fundamentals to cutting-edge digital watermarking techniques. One of the crucial aspects of multimedia security is the ability to detect forged/tampered regions from the multimedia object. In this book, we emphasized how tampering detection, localization, and recovery of manipulated information not only limits but also eliminates the scope of unauthorized usage. Finally, this book provides the groundwork for understanding the role of intelligent machines and blockchain in achieving better security in multimedia watermarking. Free Download Multimedia Applications by Ralf Steinmetz , Klara Nahrstedt English | PDF | 2004 | 256 Pages | ISBN : 3540408495 | 26.5 MB Multimedia Applications discusses the basic characteristics of multimedia document handling, programming, security, human computer interfaces, and multimedia application services. The overall goal of the book is to provide a broad understanding of multimedia systems and applications in an integrated manner: a multimedia application and its user interface must be developed in an integrated fashion with underlying multimedia middleware, operating systems, networks, security, and multimedia devices. Free Download Eugene F Provenzo Jr, "Multiliteracies: Beyond Text and the Written Word (Hc) " English | ISBN: 1617353434 | 2011 | 228 pages | PDF | 6 MB A volume in Landscapes of Education Series Editors: William H. Schubert, University of Illinois at Chicago & Ming Fang He, Georgia Southern University Multiliteracies: Beyond Text and the Written Word emphasizes literacies which are, or have been, common in American culture, but which tend to be ignored in more traditional discussions of literacy-specifically textual literacy. By describing multiliteracies or alternative literacies, and how they function, we have tried to develop a broader understanding of what it means to be literate in American culture. The 39 topical essays/chapters included in this work represent a sampler of both old and new literacies that are clearly at work in American culture, and which go beyond more traditional textual forms and models. Multiliteracies: Beyond Text and the Written Word asks: How is the experience of students changing outside of traditional schools, and how do these changes potentially shape the work they do, how they learn, and the lives they lead in schools and less formal settings? This work assumes that our increasing diversity in a postmodern and increasingly global society brings with it demands for a broader understanding of what it means to be literate. Multiliteracy "literally" becomes a necessity. This work is a guidebook to the new reality, which is increasingly so important to schools and the more general culture.
Free Download Dogan Yuksel, "Multilingual and Translingual Practices in English-Medium Instruction: Perspectives from Global Higher Education Context" English | ISBN: 1350373249 | 2024 | 284 pages | PDF | 4 MB English Medium Instruction (EMI) refers to the use of the English language to teach academic subjects where first language of the majority of the population is not English. One popular implementation of EMI, the Multilingual Model, would imply that some aspects (e.g. courses, sessions in some courses, and/or assessment) are taught through English, whereas the first language of the students is used in some other respects. This volume explores context-related ways in which the multilingual EMI model and translingual practices are seen and enacted in higher education contexts across the globe. Research on this topic is not only timely but also very much needed, particularly in contexts that are relatively new to EMI, as well as in contexts where monolingual forms of teaching and monolingual institutional policies still prevail. Empirical, research-based studies as well as theoretical reviews that centre around multilingual and translingual practices in partial and full (i.e. English-only) EMI settings are elaborated, with case studies from Colombia, Indonesia, Iraq, Norway, Qatar, Spain, Turkey, United Arab Emirates, the UK and the USA.
Free Download Imanol Galfarsoro, "Multicultural Controversies: Political Struggles, Cultural Consumerism and State Management" English | ISBN: 193454244X | 2014 | 204 pages | PDF | 5 MB In this short but all-encompassing account of multiculturalism, Multicultural Controversies studies the emergence and development of multiculturalism as a concept mapped out through a variety of controversial discussions. Arguing that multiculturalism cannot be reduced just to the issues of emigration and religion, the author pursues a comprehensive approach reflecting a trans-disciplinary interest in the intersection of critical social theory and radical political philosophy with post-colonial studies, and examines the overall contexts (historical, socio-political, cultural and philosophical/speculative) in which multiculturalism emerges and develops as a concept. |
