Get to Know Essential Italy:?Rome, Italy?s capital, is one of the great cities of Europe. It?s a large, contemporary metropolis, yet there?s no other place on earth where you?ll encounter such powerful evocations of a long and spectacular past, from the Colosseum to the dome of St. Peter's. Umbria, north of Rome, is a region of rolling hills topped by attractive old towns, including Orvieto, Spoleto, Perugia, and Assisi, each with its own rich history and art treasures. Tuscany is home to Florence, which was at the center of the Renaissance and offers a mind-boggling abundance of art treasures. Other Tuscan cities include Siena, once Florence?s main rival; San Gimignano, famous for its 15th-century tower; and Voltera, which dates to the Etruscan times. Between Florence and Venice is Emilia-Romagna, home to many of Italy?s signature foods. Bologna is a significant cultural center, and the mosaics of Ravenna are glittering Byzantine treasures. Next door in the Veneto is Venice, one of the world?s most novel cities, with canals where streets should be and an atmosphere of faded splendor that defines the word decadent. The plains west of Venice hold three of northern Italy?s most appealing midsize cities: Padua, Vicenza, and Verona. Note:? This ebook edition is adapted from Fodor?s Essential Italy, 3rd Edition but differs in some content.? Additionally, the ebook edition includes photographs and maps that will appear on black-and-white devices but are optimized for devices that support full-color images.

Flying the Hump In Original World War II Color
Free Download Jeff Ethell, Don Downie - Flying the Hump: In Original World War II Color
Motorbooks International | 1995 | ISBN: 0760301131 | English | 176 pages | PDF | 137.24 MB
The capture of the Burma Road by the Japanese during World War II forced U.S. airmen to fly hundreds of missions a day into China in an airlift of epic proportions. Having to fly over the towering Himalayan Mountains, the pilots came to know this route as 'flying the hump'. The Hump was a pioneering aviation operation that had just about everything working against it: the forbidding mountains, the worst flying weather in the world, deadly Japanese fighters, the crudest of navigational aids, unproven aircraft, and inexperienced flight and maintenance crews. Military commanders considered a flight over the Hump to be more hazardous than a bombing mission over Europe. More than 1,300 pilots and crew members were lost and more than 500 transport planes crashed trying to make it. Flying the Hump contains more than 170 original color photographs depicting the lives of the pilots and their planes during this dangerous operation. Many Hump pilots shared their personal recollections of rare photos and many untold stories to comprise this book of seat-of-the-pants flying.

Flying Serpents and Dragons The Story of Mankind's Reptilian Past
Free Download Flying Serpents and Dragons: The Story of Mankind's Reptilian Past By R.A. Boulay
1999 | 276 Pages | ISBN: 1885395388 | PDF | 3 MB
A highly original work that deals a shattering blow to all our preconceived notions about our past and human origins. Worldwide legends refer to giant flying lizards and dragons that came to this planet and founded the ancient civilizations of Mesopo-tamia, Egypt, India and China. Who were these reptilian creatures? This book provides the answers to many of the riddles of history such as: What was the real reason for man's creation? Why did Adam lose his chance at immortality in the Garden of Eden? Who were the Nefilim who descended from heaven and mated with human women? Why did the serpent take such a bum rap in history? Why didn't Adam and Eve wear clothes in Eden? What were the "crystals" or "stones" that the ancient gods fought over? Why did the ancient Sumerians call their major gods USHUMGAL, which means literally "great fiery, flying serpent?" What was the role of the gigantic stone platform at Baalbek? What were the "boats of heaven" in ancient Egypt and the "sky chariots" of the Bible?

Free Download Flying Scotsman By Graeme Obree & Sir Chris Hoy
2014 | 288 Pages | ISBN: 1909715115 | EPUB | 2 MB
NEW UPDATED EDITION 'This is one of the best and most moving sports books I have read' - The Times 'Deeply moving. His determination and single-mindedness was and still is a true inspiration to me' - Sir Chris Hoy 'This is a book that must have taken great courage to write, is a harrowing reminder of how little the public know about sportsmen, no matter how brightly the spotlight shines on them' - The Guardian 'Hard-hitting and brutally honest' - Cycling Weekly Number 10 in Cycle Sport's Best 50 Cycling Books of All Time. On 17 July 1993, Graeme Obree stunned the international world when he emerged from obscurity to smash Francesco Moser's World Hour Record. Flying Scotsman is Graeme Obree's searing autobiography, from his tough upbringing in Ayrshire where he found escape on the roads, to his head-to-head duals with Chris Boardman and his rise to become a major star on the European circuit. Obree created massive controversy in the professional cycling world with his unique riding style and his pioneering construction techniques - famously using washing-machine parts to complete the building of his 'Old Faithful'. Yet all his sporting success was achieved in the shadow of manic depression and suicidal despair. Obree brings his amazing life story up to date in this new edition of his critically acclaimed, best-selling autobiography, as he continues to astound the world with his creative genius and sporting prowess.
