Prison Architecture
Free Download Prison Architecture By Leslie Fairweather; Sean McConville
2000 | 184 Pages | ISBN: 0750642122 | PDF | 5 MB
Current and future prison designs are examined in this book, within the government's prison building programme, and the confines of current penal philosophies and legislation. America has led the way in prison design, with two main types of architecture predominating: radial layouts (outside cells with windows) and linear blocks (inside cells with grilles). Now, 'new' generation prisons (central association surrounded by small groups of cells) look set to become the fashion. But are they a better answer, and should they be copied worldwide before we know?Architects and administrators show in this book the designs of these 'new generation' prisons and assess their impact. Most countries in central Europe also have a rising crime rate and a demand for new prisons. Contributions from significant architects from the UK, Europe and America comment on these issues.Other topics within the book are: setting current prison architecture and design against an historical setting; looking at penal ideas and prison architecture and design in the post-war period; the psychological effects of the prison environment; the influence of technology and design on security management; and how prison architecture and design can be more flexible and innovative.

Principles of Plant Nutrition
Free Download Principles of Plant Nutrition by Konrad Mengel, Ernest A. Kirkby, Harald Kosegarten, Thomas Appel
English | PDF | 2001 | 846 Pages | ISBN : 079237150X | 92.5 MB
This is the 5th edition of a well-established book Principles of Plant Nutrition which was first published in 1978. The same format is maintained as in previous editions with the primary aim of the authors to consider major processes in soils and plants that are of relevance to plant nutrition. This new edition gives an up-to-date account of the scientific advances of the subject by making reference to about 2000 publications. An outstanding feature of the book, which distinguishes it from others, is its wide approach encompassing not only basic nutrition and physiology, but also practical aspects of plant nutrition involving fertilizer usage and crop production of direct importance to human nutrition. Recognizing the international readership of the book, the authors, as in previous editions, have attempted to write in a clear concise style of English for the benefit of the many readers for whom English is not their mother tongue. The book will be of use to undergraduates and postgraduates in Agriculture, Horticulture, Forestry and Ecology as well as those researching in Plant Nutrition.

Principles of Magnetic Resonance
Free Download Principles of Magnetic Resonance by Charles P. Slichter
English | PDF | 1990 | 662 Pages | ISBN : 3540501576 | 50 MB
The first edition of this book was written in 1961 when I was Morris Loeb Lecturer in Physics at Harvard. In the preface I wrote: "The problem faced by a beginner today is enormous. If he attempts to read a current article, he often finds that the first paragraph refers to an earlier paper on which the whole article is based, and with which the author naturally assumes familiarity. That reference in turn is based on another, so the hapless student finds himself in a seemingly endless retreat. I have felt that graduate students or others beginning research in magnetic resonance needed a book which really went into the details of calculations, yet was aimed at the beginner rather than the expert. " The original goal was to treat only those topics that are essential to an understanding of the literature. Thus the goal was to be selective rather than comprehensive. With the passage of time, important new concepts were becoming so all-pervasive that I felt the need to add them. That led to the second edition, which Dr. Lotsch, Physics Editor of Springer-Verlag, encouraged me to write and which helped launch the Springer Series in Solid-State Sciences. Now, ten years later, that book (and its 1980 revised printing) is no longer available. Meanwhile, workers in magnetic resonance have continued to develop startling new insights.

Principles and Theories of Data Mining With RapidMiner
Free Download Principles and Theories of Data Mining With RapidMiner by Sarawut Ramjan, Jirapon Sunkpho
English | May 9, 2023 | ISBN: 1668447312 | 332 pages | MOBI | 9.33 Mb
The demand for skilled data scientists is rapidly increasing as more organizations recognize the value of data-driven decision- making. Data science, data management, and data mining are all critical components for various types of organizations, including large and small corporations, academic institutions, and government entities. For companies, these components serve to extract insights and value from their data, empowering them to make evidence-driven decisions and gain a competitive advantage by discovering patterns and trends and avoiding costly mistakes. Academic institutions utilize these tools to analyze large datasets and gain insights into various scientific fields of study, including genetic data, climate data, financial data, and in the social sciences they are used to analyze survey data, behavioral data, and public opinion data. Governments use data science to analyze data that can inform policy decisions, such as identifying areas with high crime rates, determining which regions need infrastructure development, and predicting disease outbreaks. However, individuals who are not data science experts, but are experts within their own fields, may need to apply their experience to the data they must manage, but still struggle to expand their knowledge of how to use data mining tools such as RapidMiner software. Principles and Theories of Data Mining With RapidMiner is a comprehensive guide for students and individuals interested in experimenting with data mining using RapidMiner software. This book takes a practical approach to learning through the RapidMiner tool, with exercises and case studies that demonstrate how to apply data mining techniques to real-world scenarios. Readers will learn essential concepts related to data mining, such as supervised learning, unsupervised learning, association rule mining, categorical data, continuous data, and data quality. Additionally, readers will learn how to apply data mining techniques to popular algorithms, including k-nearest neighbor (K-NN), decision tree, naïve bayes, artificial neural network (ANN), k-means clustering, and probabilistic methods. By the end of the book, readers will have the skills and confidence to use RapidMiner software effectively and efficiently, making it an ideal resource for anyone, whether a student or a professional, who needs to expand their knowledge of data mining with RapidMiner software.
