Free Download Multifunctional Hydrogels: From Basic Concepts to Advanced Applications English | 2024 | ISBN: 1032373407 | 413 Pages | PDF (True) | 33 MB Hydrogels are important polymer-based materials with innate fascinating properties and applications: they are three-dimensional, hydrophilic, polymeric networks that can absorb large amounts of water or aqueous fluids and are biocompatible, mechanically flexible, and soft. The incorporation of functionalities to develop smart and bioactive platforms has led to a myriad of applications. This book offers a comprehensive overview of multifunctional hydrogels, covering fundamentals, properties, and advanced applications in a progressive way. While each chapter can be read stand-alone, together they clearly describe the fundamental concepts of design, synthesis, and fabrication, as well as properties and performances of smart multifunctional hydrogels and their advanced applications in the biomedical, environmental, and robotics fields.
Free Download Multicriteria Decision Making: Systems Modeling, Risk Assessment, and Financial Analysis for Technical Projects (De Gruyter STEM) by Timothy Havranek, Doug MacNair English | June 6, 2023 | ISBN: 3110765640 | MOBI | 3.55 Mb This book takes a pragmatic business and economics view towards evaluating competing investment alternatives and/or capital project strategies. It provides a practical step-by- step process using a structured decision analysis framework to evaluate, understand, quantify, and measure project invesment strategies in light of multiple stakeholder objectives and success criteria. This process assists in helping stakeholders (internal and external) achieve a shared understanding of project issues and to facilitate convergence towards a mutually acceptable solution. The approach considers available choices, identified uncertainties, constraints, necessary tradeoffs, and preferences so as to identify solutions that maximize overall benefits while minimizing overall costs and risk. A real world case study is presented in the early chapters and the process steps are demonstrated through application to this case study. To meet high computational demands posed by latest consumer electronic devices, most current systems are based on such paradigm, which represents a real revolution in many aspects in computing. The attraction of multicore processing for power reduction is compelling. By splitting a set of tasks among multiple processor cores, the operating frequency necessary for each core can be reduced, allowing to reduce the voltage on each core. Because dynamic power is proportional to the frequency and to the square of the voltage, we get a big gain, even though we may have more cores running. As more and more cores are integrated into these designs to share the ever increasing processing load, the main challenges lie in efficient memory hierarchy, scalable system interconnect, new programming paradigms, and efficient integration methodology for connecting such heterogeneous cores into a single system capable of leveraging their individual flexibility. Current design methods tend toward mixed HW/SW co-designs targeting multicore systems on-chip for specific applications. To decide on the lowest cost mix of cores, designers must iteratively map the device's functionality to a particular HW/SW partition and target architectures. In addition, to connect the heterogeneous cores, the architecture requires high performance complex communication architectures and efficient communication protocols, such as hierarchical bus, point-to-point connection, or Network-on-Chip. Software development also becomes far more complex due to the difficulties in breaking a single processing task into multiple parts that can be processed separately and then reassembled later. This reflects the fact that certain processor jobs cannot be easily parallelized to run concurrently on multiple processing cores and that load balancing between processing cores - especially heterogeneous cores - is very difficult. Free Download Multicomponent Hydrogels: Smart Materials for Biomedical Applications (Issn) by Jagan Mohan Dodda, Kalim Deshmukh, Deon Bezuidenhout English | May 22, 2023 | ISBN: 1839167270 | 676 pages | PDF | 16 Mb Hydrogels are highly hydrated three dimensional networks with the ability to mimic the extracellular matrix of bodily tissues and have thus found application in a wide range of biomedical applications. Unique physiochemical properties such as biocompatibility, water permeability, stimuli responsiveness and self-healing characteristics make them especially useful for use as scaffolds and matrices drug delivery, tissue engineering/regeneration and sensing. Their weak and brittle nature, however, often limits their widespread application where improved mechanical strength is required. Free Download Mrcog: Pt. 2 2008 By Akkad, Andrea; Habiba, Marwan; Konje, Justin 2017 | 158 Pages | ISBN: 1846190320 | PDF | 3 MB This title includes Foreword by David Taylor, Professor and Vice Dean of Leicester Medical School. Preparing for the Part 2 MRCOG examination remains a daunting and complex task, particularly as learning and revision often need to fit around clinical commitments. Much has been written about how to prepare for and pass exams, yet it remains surprising how often well-read candidates provide unsatisfactory answers in areas which they know well. Clearly, a sound understanding of the topic area is essential, but deeper knowledge also increases uncertainty, and the vast developments in the field mean that proficiency in all areas is next to impossible. Thus a critical point for postgraduate candidates, who more often than not will prepare for the examination in isolation, is to develop a real understanding of what the examination is meant to assess. This revision aid in obstetrics and gynaecology is based on the Extended Matching Question format (EMQ) It contains forty-two questions of varying degrees of difficulty, along with detailed answers. "MRCOG Part 2 Essential EMQs" is an indispensable study and revision aid for postgraduate medical students preparing for Part 2 of the Membership of the Royal College of Gynaecologists (MRCOG) examination or equivalent. "The number of published revision aids including this question format in postgraduate Obstetrics and Gynaecology remains limited. With this book we wanted to produce a comprehensive selection of EMQ, covering broad areas relevant to the speciality, which would be useful those preparing for postgraduate examinations at Part 2 MRCOG level or equivalent." - Marwan Habiba, Andrea Akkad, Justin Konje. |
