Italian Fascism and Developmental Dictatorship
Free Download Italian Fascism and Developmental Dictatorship By A. James Gregor
2014 | 446 Pages | ISBN: 0691616418 | PDF | 5 MB
Political scientists generally have been disposed to treat Italian Fascism--if not generic fascism--as an idiosyncratic episode in the special history of Europe. James Gregor contends, to the contrary, that Italian Fascism has much in common with an inclusive class of developmental revolutionary regimes.Originally published in 1980.ThePrinceton Legacy Libraryuses the latest print-on-demand technology to again make available previously out-of-print books from the distinguished backlist of Princeton University Press. These editions preserve the original texts of these important books while presenting them in durable paperback and hardcover editions. The goal of the Princeton Legacy Library is to vastly increase access to the rich scholarly heritage found in the thousands of books published by Princeton University Press since its founding in 1905.

Italian Americans in Film and Other Media The Immigrant Experience from Silent Films to the Internet Age

English | ISBN: 3031472101 | 2024 | 368 pages | EPUB, PDF | 605 KB + 5 MB
Italian Americans in Film and Other Media examines the representation of the Italian immigrant experience from D.W. Griffith's Biograph Italian Dramas (1908-1913) to the present day. Building on the editors' previous volume Italian Americans in Film, this collection broadens their scope to address marginalized aspects of Italian Americanness, including the work of women directors and depictions of same-sex relationships. The book consists of three parts. Part I, "The Immigrant Experience", focuses on feature films and is divided into two sections: "Silent Films" (which analyses some of Griffith's early films and Barker's The Italian, 1915), and "Revising Gender Perspectives", which includes chapters focusing on single films - such as Dmytryk's Christ in Concrete (1949), De Michiel's Tarantella (1995), and Bonifacio's

Deutsch | 2024 | ISBN: 3869951419 | 115 Seiten | EPUB | 0.4 MB
Was ist los in unserem Land?

Isotope Shifts in Atomic Spectra
Free Download Isotope Shifts in Atomic Spectra by W. H. King
English | PDF | 1984 | 215 Pages | ISBN : 0306415623 | 18.2 MB
Atomic and nuclear physics are two flourishing but distinct branches of physics; the subject of isotope shifts in atomic spectra is one of the few that links these two branches. It is a subject that has been studied for well over fifty years, but interest in the subject, far from flagging, has been stimulated in recent years. Fast computers have enabled theoreticians to evaluate the properties of many-electron atoms, and laser spectroscopy has made it possible to measure isotope shifts in the previously unmeasurable areas of very rare isotopes, short-lived radioactive isotopes, weak transitions, and transitions involving high-lying atomic levels. Isotope shifts can now be measured with greater accuracy than before in both optical transitions and x-ray transitions of muonic atoms; this improved accuracy is revealing new facets of the subject. I am very grateful to Dr. H. G. Kuhn, F. R. S. , for having introduced me to the subject in the 1950s, and for supervising my efforts to measure isotope shifts in the spectrum of ruthenium. I thus approach the subject as an experimental atomic spectroscopist. This bias is obviously apparent in my use of the spectroscopist's notation of lower-upper for a transition, rather than the nuclear physicist's upper-lower. My reasons are given in Section 1. 3 and I hope that nuclear physicists will forgive me for using this notation even for muonic x-ray transitions.

Isle of Wight Local, characterful guides to Britain's special places (Bradt Slow Travel)
Free Download Isle of Wight: Local, characterful guides to Britain's special places (Bradt Slow Travel) by Mark Rowe
English | June 1, 2022 | ISBN: 178477796X | 312 pages | MOBI | 35 Mb
This brand-new guide to the Isle of Wight forms part of Bradt's top-selling, award-winning series of Slow travel guides to UK regions. Written by expert author and journalist Mark Rowe, who has visited the island over 30 times since first spending childhood holidays there, it is the perfect companion to help you get the most out of your visit, replete with not just all the practical information you could need, but also all the descriptive detail, anecdote and insider tips to make time spent there truly enjoyable and memorable. The Isle of Wight is an island that is astonishingly - and unexpectedly - rich in food producers, wildlife, natural beauty, history, archaeology and dramatic landscapes. This is all the more remarkable for it being so close to the densely populated southern edges of England. At just 25 miles x 13 miles, in no other equivalent-sized area of Britain is there such a variety of landscapes (downland, estuaries, hills, saltmarshes, meadows, riverine, beach) or such a concentration of food producers (50+ independents at the last count). Here there is a real Island culture, a creative spirit that is quite quirky and independent.Bradt's Isle of Wight includes where to go to see red squirrels, where to hire e-bikes, where to go foraging and where is best for families. It also covers historic and present quirks, curiosities and attractions, including Jimi Hendrix's unusual love affair with the island, a day in the life of a ferry master, tree climbing, World War II history, night-time wildlife, the annual walk at low tide to explore the wildlife underneath Ryde's grand Victorian pier, the island's award-winning wines and its dinosaur fossil-rich beaches - of which it has more than anywhere else in the UK!With 20 maps, including regional, walking and cycling maps, you'll be well placed to navigate your way from one point of interest to another. Whatever your interest, Bradt's Isle of Wight will help you to plan and enjoy a visit to remember.

Island Futures Conservation and Development Across the Asia–Pacific Region (2024)
Free Download Daniel Niles, "Island Futures: Conservation and Development Across the Asia-Pacific Region"
English | 2011 | pages: 194 | ISBN: 4431539883, 4431540881 | PDF | 5,6 mb
Islands face one of the most pressing issues of our time: how to balance ecological integrity with economic development and collective quality of life, including the need for social and conservation space. Islands are sites of rich and varied human and ecological diversity, but they are also often characterized by narrow resource bases and dependency on links to the outside world, and by their limited ability to determine the actual character of those links. This volume reviews the challenges of island development and conservation in the Asia-Pacific region. With emphasis on nature reserves and UNESCO World Heritage sites, chapters describe the benefits, barriers, and potential pitfalls in preserving such sites, managing biota, and attracting and controlling tourism. The book also provides a provocative challenge to move beyond the typical concerns of "sustainability" to the more holistic concept of "futurability", or "future potential" for convivial human-environmental interactions.

Islamic Roots of Capitalism Egypt, 1760–1840
Free Download Islamic Roots of Capitalism: Egypt, 1760-1840 By Peter Gran
1998 | 278 Pages | ISBN: 0815605064 | PDF | 8 MB
Challenging the ethnocentric notion that a capitalist economy could only be transferred to the peripheral states through contact with Europe, this text argues that the capitalist transformation of the Egyptian economy was begun by Muslim merchants and Mamluk rulers in the 18th century. This edition has an updated first chapter, resituating its main argument for today's readers.
