English | February 21, 2024 | ASIN: B0CW3S22BN | M4B@128 kbps | 18h 18m | 997 MB
Author: David Hume | Narrator: Jonathan Keeble
David Hume (1711-1776) remains a major figure in British philosophy, particularly for two or three works, including A Treatise on Human Nature and An Enquiry Concerning Human Understanding. But he was also a prolific essayist and historian. During his lifetime Essays Moral, Political and Literary went through a number of editions and collections, far outselling his philosophy. Now, the situation is reversed. But listening to the essays today it is difficult to see why. Even after 250 years they continue to be intellectually stimulating, witty, engrossing, and, in many cases, retain a relevance to our times. The variety of topics alone is appealing.
Presented here in the main collection are 47 essays, divided into two parts, though not organized in any specific thematic way. Among the political essays are: Of the First Principles of Government; Whether the British Government inclines more to Absolute Monarchy or to a Republic; Of the Liberty of the Press; Idea of a Perfect Commonwealth. Economic concerns are addressed: Of Money; Of Interest; Of Public Credit; Of Taxes. Hume opens the collection with Of the Delicacy of Taste and Passion, and also considered Of the Rise and Progress of the Arts and Sciences before turning his attention to The Epicurean; The Stoic; The Platonist and The Sceptic.

The comic genius of English writing takes on Hollywood, delusion, celebrity and last century's ultimate glamour couple: Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor.
Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor were a Sixties supercharged couple in an era of supercharged couples. As a pairing they were fantasy figures, impossibly desirable. Liz supple and soft, in perfumes and furs - yet with something demonic and lethal about her. Dick, in turn, with his ravaged, handsome face, looked as though lit by silver moonlight - poised to turn into a wolf.

Empire of Rags and Bones Waste and War in Nazi Germany [Audiobook]
Free Download Anne Berg, Suzanne Toren (Narrator), "Empire of Rags and Bones: Waste and War in Nazi Germany"
English | ASIN: B0CX5PQYB8 | 2024 | MP3@64 kbps | ~11:46:00 | 323 MB
Paper, kitchen garbage, rubber, hair, fat, rags, and bones-the Nazi empire demanded its population collect anything that could be reused. Citizens conjured up schemes to squeeze value from waste or invent new purposes for defunct or spent material, no matter the cost to people or the environment. As WWII dragged on, rescued loot-much of it waste-clogged transport routes and piled up in warehouses across Europe.
Historicizing the much-championed ideal of zero waste, Anne Berg shows that the management of waste was central to the politics of war and to the genesis of genocide in the Nazi Germany. Destruction and recycling were part of an overarching strategy to redress raw material shortages, procure lebensraum, and cleanse the continent of Jews and others considered undesirable. Resource extending schemes obscured the crucial political role played by virtually all German citizens to whom salvaging, scrapping, and recycling were promoted as inherently virtuous and orderly behaviors.
Throughout Nazi occupied-Europe, Jews, POWs, concentration camp inmates, and enemy civilians were forced to recycle the loot, discards, and debris of the Nazi race war. In the end, the materials that were fully exploited and the people who had been bled dry were cast aside, buried, burned, or left to rot. Nonetheless, waste reclamation did not have the power to win the war.

Eat Without Fear Harnessing Science to Confront and Overcome Your Eating Disorder [Audiobook]
Free Download Eat Without Fear: Harnessing Science to Confront and Overcome Your Eating Disorder (Audiobook)
English | ASIN: B0CX3195LZ | 2024 | 5 hours and 1 minute | MP3@64 kbps | 138 MB
Author: Nicholas R. Farrell, Glenn Waller, Carolyn Black Becker
Narrator: Danny Hughes

Eating disorders are serious conditions that can be hard to treat; however, the chances of overcoming an eating disorder increase when exposure therapy is used as part of the overall treatment strategy. Exposure therapy involves confronting (rather than avoiding) challenging scenarios that evoke distress, and though this technique has typically been used mainly by psychotherapists, people struggling with eating disorders can use it on their own to reduce troubling eating behaviors. Eat Without Fear provides practical, accessible information about this innovative, scientifically-supported approach, as well as guidance on how to apply it effectively to beat an eating disorder using a "team approach" that involves family members, friends, and other loved ones. Listeners will benefit from the use of easy-to-understand language describing the key concepts of eating disorders and how exposure therapy can help treat them. Additionally, the book guides listeners through therapeutic activities that enable them to effectively practice exposure therapy techniques on their own. Given the value of involving family members and other supportive people in the eating disorder recovery process, this book encourages collaboration between listeners and their loved ones and offers practical suggestions for how they can work together to achieve their desired goals.

Jim Gordon was the greatest rock drummer of all-time. Just ask the world-famous musicians who played with him-John Lennon, George Harrison, Eric Clapton, Tom Petty, Frank Zappa, Steely Dan, Ringo Starr, Harry Nilsson, Joe Cocker, and many more.
They knew him for his superior playing, extraordinary training and technique, preternatural intuition, perfect sense of time, and his "big fill"-the mathematically-precise clatter that exploded like detonating fireworks on his drum breaks. And as bestselling author and award-winning journalist Joel Selvin reveals, the story of Jim Gordon is the most brilliant, turbulent, and wrenching rock opera ever.

Dreams Don't Die The Story of a Man on a Mission to Inspire a Generation of Dreamers [Audiobook]

English | ASIN: B0CMFBSWH8 | 2023 | MP3@64 kbps | ~07:16:00 | 206 MB
Immigrant. Dropout. Entrepreneur. Restauranter. Real estate developer. Movie producer. Philanthropist.
These are only a few titles Izek Shomof, the so-called King of Spring Street, has carried throughout his fascinating life. Each of these monikers tells a part of Izek's unbelievable tale, but the whole story has never been told-until now.
Dreams Don't Die is not your typical, run-of-the-mill immigrant story. It is the memoir of a man who had every opportunity to take unethical and often-illegal shortcuts but who instead chose the lesser-trod path of honesty and integrity. It's the story of a young man who poured his blood, sweat, and tears into the city he loved, transforming not only buildings but lives in the process-starting with his own.
