Masculinity and the Bible Survey, Models, and Perspectives
Free Download Masculinity and the Bible: Survey, Models, and Perspectives By Peter-Ben Smit
2017 | 105 Pages | ISBN: 9004345574 | PDF | 4 MB
Most characters in the Bible are men, yet they are hardly analysed as such.Masculinity and the Bibleprovides the first comprehensive survey of approaches that remedy this situation. These are studies that utilize insights from the field of masculinity studies to further biblical studies. The volume offers a representative overview of both fields and presents a new exegesis of a well-known biblical text (Mark 6) to show how this approach leads to new insights. By presenting the field of masculinity studies, the volume performs a service for those working in biblical studies and related disciplines, but have not explored this approach yet. At the same time, the volume shows, by surveying the past two decades of publications in the field, what results have been achieved so far and where open questions remain. In the exegesis of Mark 6, it becomes clear that one of these challenges, the often very specific and intersectional character of masculinity, can be addressed successfully when consciously combining approaches such as narrative and ritual analyses.

English | 2013 | ISBN: 1847772374 | EPUB | pages: 266 | 3.5 mb
Painting a portrait of a gothic icon, this biography recounts Mary Shelley's dramatic life, from her youth and turbulent marriage to her career as writer and editor. At the age of 20, Mary Shelley secured her place in history by writing Frankenstein, now acknowledged as one of the great literary classics. The daughter of radical philosopher William Godwin and pioneering feminist Mary Wollstonecraft, Mary Shelley led an unconventional life, which is depicted-with previously unpublished material-in this remarkable biography that was originally released in 1987as a thorough revision of Muriel Spark's 1951 book Child of Light. Spark lends her own talents as an accomplished writer and her sharp intelligence to this fascinating examination of Mary Shelley's life and writings.

Markets, money and capital Hicksian economics for the twenty–first century
Free Download Roberto Scazzieri, Amartya Sen, Stefano Zamagni, "Markets, money and capital: Hicksian economics for the twenty-first century"
English | 2011 | pages: 466 | ISBN: 0521873215, 0521188792 | EPUB | 2,1 mb
Sir John Hicks (1904-89) was a leading economic theorist of the twentieth century, and along with Kenneth Arrow was awarded the Nobel Prize in 1972. His work addressed central topics in economic theory, such as value, money, capital and growth. An important unifying theme was the attention for economic rationality 'in time' and his acknowledgement that apparent rigidities and frictions might exert a positive role as a buffer against excessive fluctuations in output, prices and employment. This emphasis on the virtue of imperfection significantly distances Hicksian economics from both the Keynesian and Monetarist approaches. Containing contributions from distinguished theorists in their own right (including three Nobel Prize winners), this volume examines Hicks's intellectual heritage and discusses how his ideas suggest a distinct approach to economic theory and policy making. It will be of great interest to scholars and students of economic theory and the history of economic thought.
