This book is an invitation to think the world otherwise. The author breathes new life into socialist thought through the deployment of an intersectional lens, bringing diverse struggles for emancipation both within and outside the Global North into dialogue with one another. Interpretation of Law in the Global World From Particularism to a Universal Approach
Free Download Joanna Jemielniak, Przemyslaw Miklaszewicz, "Interpretation of Law in the Global World: From Particularism to a Universal Approach"
English | 2010 | pages: 377 | ISBN: 364243956X, 3642048854 | PDF | 2,4 mb
Capturing the Change: Universalising Tendencies in Legal Interpretation Joanna Jemielniak and Przemys aw Mik aszewicz International and supranational integration on the European continent, as well as the harmonisation of the rules of international trade and the accompanying dev- opment and global popularity of the resolution of commercial disputes through arbitration, constantly exerts a considerable in uence on modern legal systems. The sources of each of these phenomena are different, and their action is dissimilar. Each can be described as reaching either from the top to the bottom, through the direct involvement of interested States and consequently affecting their internal legal s- tems (international and supranational integration; harmonisation of trade regulations through public international law instruments), or bottom-up, as a result of activity by private parties, leading to the achievement of uniform practices and standards (ar- tration, lex mercatoria). Nonetheless, they both enrich national legal cultures and contribute to transgressing the limits of national (local) particularisms in creating, interpreting and applying the law. The aim of this book is to demonstrate how these processes have in uenced the interpretation of law, how they have shaped the methods and techniques of the interpretation and with what consequences for the outcomes of the interpretative procedures. In assessing the extent of this in uence, due regard must be paid to the fact that the interpretation of law is not, in principle, directly determined by the provisions of law itself.

Internet Sex Offenders
Free Download Internet Sex Offenders
English | 2013 | ISBN: 1433813645 | 361 Pages | PDF (True) | 6.4 MB
One of the most chilling aspects of our technological age is the seeming ease with which perpetrators can use the internet to commit sexual offenses. Fears of "internet predators" have led to unprecedented media attention and the mobilization of legal and investigative resources toward identifying and prosecuting child pornography and solicitation offenders, as well as a great deal of research into all aspects of online sexual offending in hopes of clarifying, reducing, and eliminating these kinds of offenses. In this comprehensive, state-of-the-science work, Michael C. Seto examines a wealth of research conducted over the last decade (including his own extensive work in this area) regarding the use and contribution of the internet to sexual crimes including the creation and dissemination of child pornography, and online and offline solicitation efforts leading to contact offenses such as rape and sexual assault. He examines the etiology and characteristics of online offenders, the relation between online and omine offending, and provides practical information relevant to risk assessment, law, and treatment. He also investigates the impact of the internet on related issues such as statutory offending, "grooming" tactics, "sexting," as well as the truth about "stranger danger" and the real risk to children of assault and abduction.

English | ISBN: 1529229820 | 2024 | 282 pages | PDF | 25 MB
This book brings together thirteen essays from the celebrated international theorist Nicholas Greenwood Onuf. They address topics that Onuf has puzzled over for decades, prompting him to develop a distinctive perspective on international theory as social theory. Among these topics are the problem of materiality in social construction, epochal change in the modern world and the power of language. Building on the work of giants, from Aristotle and Cicero, Hume and Kant, to Derrida and Foucault, and drawing on diverse contemporary theorists, including Seyla Benhabib, James Der Derian, Johan Galtung, Morton Kaplan, Joseph Nye, James Rosenau, Elaine Scarry and Kenneth Waltz, the book ranges over the margins of the fi eld and settles on issues that have never been put to rest.

International TESOL Teachers in a Multi–Englishes Community Mobility, On–the–Ground Realities and the Limits of Negotia
Free Download Dr. Phan Le Ha, "International TESOL Teachers in a Multi-Englishes Community: Mobility, On-the-Ground Realities and the Limits of Negotia"
English | ISBN: 1800415478 | 2022 | 248 pages | PDF | 3 MB
This book embarks on an ever-expanding array of language, academic mobility, neoliberalism, and accompanying rich scholarly debates. It examines the ways in which international English language teachers in Saudi Arabia's higher education system position themselves, negotiate, interact, adjust, make sense of their classroom dynamics, and validate their senses of selves and pedagogies in their day-to-day (dis)engagement with their institutions and encounters at work. Informed by rich empirical data from a multi-year, multi-site project in addition to other qualitative studies, the book reveals on-the-ground complexities involving speaker status, language, ethnicity, nationality, race, religion, sociocultural factors, emotion labour, work dynamic and professionalism. It promotes thinking beyond normative ideologies on marginalisation, the native and non-native speaker dichotomy, linguistic, racial, religious and ethnic (inter)relations, and translanguaging pedagogies, while also offering new material for original theorisation in multi-Englishes multilingualism, local-trusting-local and the limits of negotiability.
