However, research by ecosystem and population ecologists has shown that the processes in question are very often non-convex. This has important implications for environmental and resource economics. Typically, a system under study or being managed would contain multiple basins of attraction. So the system would flip from one basin to another if a "threshold" (mathematically, a bifurcation) were crossed. Furthermore, the flip could be irreversible. But even if it were reversible, the system could well display hysteresis. The latter eventuality means that in order to entice the system to return to its original basin of attraction, a different and possibly costly path has to be traced. A mistake in management may then be a lot more costly than envisaged. An example would be a possible flip of the Gulf Stream owing to fresh water intrusion from melting glaciers during global warming. ![]() Free Download Anna Bernasek, "The Economics of Integrity: From Dairy Farmers to Toyota, How Wealth Is Built on Trust and What That Means for Our Future" English | 2010 | ISBN: 0061774138 | EPUB | pages: 208 | 0.5 mb "Anyone interested in understanding what makes our economy work must havethis on their bookshelf." -Mark Zandi, Chief Economist, Moody's ![]() Free Download The Economic Rise of East Asia: Development Paths of Japan, South Korea, and China by Linda Glawe and Helmut Wagner English | 2021 | ISBN: 3030871274 | 356 Pages | True PDF | 4.7 MB ![]() Free Download The Economic Legacy of José Joaquín de Mora: Spreading Classical Political Economy in the Hispanic World English | 2024 | ISBN: 3031494458 | 348 Pages | PDF (True) | 6 MB This book examines the dissemination, adaptation, and application of classical economic ideas within the Hispanic world through the life of José Joaquín de Mora. Burgess 1997 | 200 Pages | ISBN: 0195110986 | PDF | 11 MB This book addresses the role of religion in the massive political changes that took place in Eastern Europe in 1989. In particular, it examines the role played by the East German church in that country's bloodless revolution. Although some scholars and political commentators have noted that the East German church provided a free space in which dissident groups could meet, they have neither described nor assessed the theology that guided the church's political involvement. Drawing on his own research in East Germany and relying primarily on sources published in East Germany itself, John Burgess demonstrates the roots of the church's theology in Barth, Bonhoeffer, and in the Barmen declaration, which in 1934 pronounced Christianity and Nazi ideology to be incompatible. He explores how the dissident groups drew on church symbols and language to develop a popular alternative theology, and finally shows how the theological tension between the church and the dissidents provided impulses for political democratization. ![]() Free Download The EBMT Handbook: Hematopoietic Cell Transplantation and Cellular Therapies by Anna Sureda, Selim Corbacioglu, Raffaella Greco, Nicolaus Kröger, Enric Carreras English | PDF EPUB (True) | 2024 | 840 Pages | ISBN : 303144079X | 48.8 MB This new edition of the EBMT handbook with its new format, addresses the latest developments and innovations in hematopoietic cell transplantation and cellular therapy. In 2014, The Dyslexia Debate examined the problematic interpretation of the term 'dyslexia' as well as questioning its efficacy as a diagnosis. Ten years on, The Dyslexia Debate Revisited reflects on the changes in dyslexia assessment and treatment over the last decade, including the introduction of dyslexia legislation in many US states. Addressing the critical responses to their original challenge of the dyslexia construct, Julian G. Elliott and Elena L. Grigorenko also consider why, despite scientific critiques, existing dyslexia conceptions and assessment practices continue to be highly attractive to many professionals, individuals, and families. Based on current scientific knowledge, the authors strive to promote a shared understanding of reading difficulties and emphasize the importance of providing timely and appropriate intervention and support to anyone who faces difficulties with learning to read. ![]() Free Download Richard M.
