Madsen, "Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing" English | 2012 | pages: 512 | ISBN: 1605259381 | PDF | 80,2 mb Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing provides thorough coverage of GD&T practices, as established by the ASME Y14.5-2009 standard. From understanding symbols on existing drawings to calculating the tolerances for proper size and location of features, topics are introduced in a methodical manner to establish an understanding of basic concepts before building to more advanced applications. Heavily illustrated, the use of the second color enhances learning by highlighting callouts and labels separately from the symbols and text of each drawing. ![]() Free Download Michael John Welch, "Geomechanical Controls on Fracture Development in Chalk and Marl in the Danish North Sea: Understanding and Predicting F" English | ISBN: 3031353269 | 2023 | 279 pages | PDF | 14 MB This book summarizes new discoveries on fracturing in chalk. Based on studies on the Danish North Sea, this book shows how observations from outcrop analogues, core and seismic data can be used to characterize the density, distribution and geometry of natural fractures in chalk and marl. Laboratory experiments on chalk samples reveal the controls on the geomechanical properties of chalk and thus on the growth of natural fractures. Finally, various modeling techniques are employed to investigate the mechanical deformation in the chalk structures of the Danish North Sea and to predict fracture distribution and geometry in the subsurface. ![]() Free Download Geology and Geochemistry of Molybdenum Deposits in the Qinling Orogen, P R China by YanJing Chen English | EPUB | 2022 | 854 Pages | ISBN : 9811648697 | 222.9 MB This book is the first systematic treatise of available data and view-points obtained from geological and geochemical studies of the Mo deposits in Qinling Orogen, China. Qinling Orogen has a minimum reserve of 8.7 Mt Mo, ranking the largest molybdenum province both in China and the world. Incorporating all known Mo deposit types in the world, it presents extensive studies of Mo deposits of world-class and unusual types within tectonic settings. ![]() Free Download Geological and Geo-Environmental Processes on Earth by Arun Kumar Shandilya English | EPUB | 2021 | 328 Pages | ISBN : 9811641218 | 228.7 MB This edited volume dedicated to late Prof. P.S. Saklani addresses the multidisciplinary themes pertaining to role of tectonism and magmatism in Crustal Evolution and global distribution of metallic and non metallic mineral deposits. It gives valuable information on geodynamic evolution, structural, petrological, isotopic, metamorphic, geochemical and geochronological attributes of continental and oceanic crust and is challenging reassessments of the existing paradigms. It addresses the implication of magmatism, metallogeny and application of geochronological ages (U-Pb SHRIMP age, Lu-Hf isotopic system; detrital zircons). ![]() Free Download Kathryn Yusoff, "Geologic Life: Inhuman Intimacies and the Geophysics of Race" English | ISBN: 1478030305 | 2024 | 608 pages | PDF | 14 MB In Geologic Life, Kathryn Yusoff theorizes the processes by which race and racialization emerged geologically. Examining both the history of geology as a discipline and ongoing mineral and resource extraction, Yusoff locates forms of imperial geology embedded in Western and Enlightenment thought and highlights how it creates anti-Black, anti-Indigenous, and anti-Brown environmental and racial injustices. Throughout, she outlines how the disciplines of geology and geography--and their conventions: surveying, identifying, classifying, valuing, and extracting-established and perpetuated colonial practices that ordered the world and people along a racial axis. Examining the conceptualization of the inhuman as political, geophysical, and paleontological, Yusoff unearths an apartheid of materiality as distinct geospatial forms. This colonial practice of geology organized and underpinned racialized accounts of space and time in ways that materially made Anthropocene Earth. At the same time, Yusoff turns to Caribbean, Indigenous, and Black thought to chart a parallel geologic epistemology of the "earth-bound" that challenges what and who the humanities have chosen to overlook in its stories of the earth. By reconsidering the material epistemologies of the earth as an on-going geotrauma in colonial afterlives, Yusoff demonstrates that race is as much a geological formation as a biological one. ![]() Free Download Geohazard Mitigation: Select Proceedings of VCDRR 2021 by Basanta Raj Adhikari English | EPUB | 2022 | 485 Pages | ISBN : 9811661391 | 138.9 MB This book presents the select proceedings of the Virtual Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction (VCDRR 2021). It emphasizes on the role of civil engineering for a disaster resilient society. It presents latest research in geohazards and their mitigation. Various topics covered in this book are land use, ground response, liquefaction, and disaster mitigation techniques. This book is a comprehensive volume on disaster risk reduction (DRR) and its management for a sustainable built environment. This book will be useful for the students, researchers, policy makers and professionals working in the area of civil engineering, especially disaster management. ![]() Free Download Geographies of New Caledonia-Kanaky: Environments, Politics and Cultures English | 2024 | ISBN: 3031491394 | 306 Pages | PDF EPUB (True) | 72 MB This open access book provides a unique overview of geographical, historical, political and environmental issues facing the French overseas territory New Caledonia, also called "Kanaky" by the indigenous Kanak people, who outnumber citizens of European and other origin. New Caledonia has seen a long and complex struggle for decolonization, but is still on the United Nations' list of "Non-Self Governing territories" and there is little sign of change following three referendums on independence and extensive negotiations with France. The archipelago possesses around a quarter of the world's nickel deposits, giving it additional strategic importance when demand for the mineral is strong. The islands have unique biodiversity, and Caledonian coastal lagoons have been listed as UNESCO world heritage sites since 2008. The book offers detailed insights into the environmental and human geographies of the archipelago, with a focus on the linksbetween environmental protection and extensive mining operations, between political independence struggles and continued wellbeing and economic development, and the differing visions for the future of the islands. This multidisciplinary volume, one of the few to appear in English, appeals to researchers, students and policy makers across the environmental, social and political sciences. ![]() Free Download Ashley Morris, Svitlana Kokhan, "Geographic Uncertainty in Environmental Security" English | 2007 | pages: 285 | ISBN: 1402064365, 1402064373 | PDF | 9,0 mb On June 28 through July 1, 2006, a NATO advanced research workshop was held in Kyiv, Ukraine. This meeting of scholars from both NATO and NATO partner countries brought together the leading researchers in the field of Fuzziness and Uncertainty in GIS for Environmental Security and Protection. The papers based upon the presentations at this meeting are included in this book. They were all quite good, some focusing on the use of fuzzy sets in geography, others focusing on explicit environmental concerns in Ukraine. What this book cannot show is the camaraderie and spirit of cooperation that permeated the atmosphere of this workshop. These researchers, many of whom had never met before, are now colleagues, and are continuing to collaborate on research to this day, and probably beyond. Scholars from various positions and countries have chosen to work together in the spirit of cooperation to make the ideas presented in this book come to fruition. At press time, we do not know if Ukraine will become a NATO member or not. In any case, the editors wish to thank the NATO Science Committee for their funding, encouragement, and work in making this workshop a reality. We hope that the spirit of cooperation and intellectual curiosity that was so lively at the conference will encourage the reader in the perusal of this work. |
