Educating for Sustainability in a Small Island Nation Voices from Early Childhood Education
Free Download Jane Spiteri, "Educating for Sustainability in a Small Island Nation: Voices from Early Childhood Education "
English | ISBN: 3031231813 | 2022 | 270 pages | PDF | 3 MB
This volume problematizes the intentions of early childhood education for sustainability (ECEfS) from two new perspectives - the context of small island states and the bi-directional, intergenerational learning about the environment and sustainability that takes place in a variety of contexts, including the family home and school. It questions how belonging to a small island and the children's home influence learning in the early years of life. In doing so, this book offers new insights and new theoretical perspectives into intergenerational environmental learning in the school, family and beyond. Informed by consideration of the most recent literature in early childhood education and sustainability, this volume also looks at how these informal learning spaces provide young children with the opportunities to enhance further learning in the field, thus portraying the fluidity of intergenerational learning from different theoretical standpoints.

Edgar Wind and Modern Art In Defence of Marginal Anarchy
Free Download Ben Thomas, "Edgar Wind and Modern Art: In Defence of Marginal Anarchy"
English | ISBN: 1501341758 | 2021 | 272 pages | PDF | 16 MB
This book presents the first comprehensive study of the philosopher and art historian Edgar Wind's critique of modern art. The first student of Erwin Panofsky, and a close associate of Aby Warburg, Edgar Wind was unusual among the 'Warburgians' for his sustained interest in modern art, together with his support for contemporary artists. This culminated in his respected and influential book Art and Anarchy (1963), which seemed like a departure from his usual scholarly work on the iconography of Renaissance art.

Ecuadorian Cinema for the 21st Century
Free Download María Fernanda Miño Puga, "Ecuadorian Cinema for the 21st Century"
English | ISBN: 3031409884 | 2023 | 235 pages | PDF | 5 MB
Ecuadorian cinema has been largely overlooked in film scholarship, usually being limited to brief descriptions in Latin American compendiums. Ecuadorian cinema for the 21st century would be the first major publication in English to fill this gap. It provides a thorough account of film activities during the new millennium, while also referring to the country's previous film history. Specifically, this book discusses the so-called 'mini-boom" in Ecuadorian cinema, and its relation to industry structures, film policy, and the context of Socialism for the 21st century, hence the chosen terminology of "Ecuadorian cinema for the 21st century". What makes this project distinctive, aside from the originality of its content, is its transdisciplinary methodology. As a means to frame the textual analysis of selected films, this book discusses theories on national cinemas, memory, politicalideology, and production practices, in an interdisciplinary approach that can be emulated in later projects. For this purpose, the book is divided into five chapters, in addition to a brief introduction and conclusion. Each chapter relies on specific case studies to discuss local narratives and documentaries, whether state sponsored or privately funded, centring primarily on films that premiered in commercial theatres between 2006 and 2016.
