Computational Algebraic Number Theory
Free Download Computational Algebraic Number Theory by Michael E. Pohst
English | PDF | 1993 | 99 Pages | ISBN : 3764329130 | 7.5 MB
Computational algebraic number theory has been attracting broad interest in the last few years due to its potential applications in coding theory and cryptography. For this reason, the Deutsche Mathematiker Vereinigung initiated an introductory graduate seminar on this topic in Düsseldorf. The lectures given there by the author served as the basis for this book which allows fast access to the state of the art in this area. Special emphasis has been placed on practical algorithms - all developed in the last five years - for the computation of integral bases, the unit group and the class group of arbitrary algebraic number fields. Contents: Introduction * Topics from finite fields * Arithmetic and polynomials * Factorization of polynomials * Topics from the geometry of numbers * Hermite normal form * Lattices * Reduction * Enumeration of lattice points * Algebraic number fields * Introduction * Basic Arithmetic * Computation of an integral basis * Integral closure * Round-Two-Method * Round-Four-Method * Computation of the unit group * Dirichlet's unit theorem and a regulator bound * Two methods for computing r independent units * Fundamental unit computation * Computation of the class group * Ideals and class number * A method for computing the class group * Appendix * The number field sieve * KANT * References * Index

Complex Variables with Applications
Free Download Complex Variables with Applications by S. Ponnusamy , Herb Silverman
English | PDF (True) | 2006 | 521 Pages | ISBN : 0817644571 | 4.6 MB
Complex numbers can be viewed in several ways: as an element in a field, as a point in the plane, and as a two-dimensional vector. Examined properly, each perspective provides crucial insight into the interrelations between the complex number system and its parent, the real number system. The authors explore these relationships by adopting both generalization and specialization methods to move from real variables to complex variables, and vice versa, while simultaneously examining their analytic and geometric characteristics.

Complex Numbers
Free Download Complex Numbers by Walter Ledermann
English | PDF | 1962 | 71 Pages | ISBN : 0710043457 | 3.7 MB
THE purpose of this book is to prescnt a straightforward introduction to complex numbers and their properties. Complex numbers, like other kinds of numbers, are essen tially objects with which to perform calculations a:cording to certain rules, and when this principle is borne in mind, the nature of complex numbers is no more mysterious than that of the more familiar types of numbers. This formal approach has recently been recommended in a Reportt prepared for the Mathematical Association. We believe that it has distinct advantages in teaching and that it is more in line with modern algebraical ideas than the alternative geometrical or kinematical definitions of v -1 that used to be proposed. On the other hand, an elementary textbook is clearly not the place to enter into a full discussion of such questions as logical consistency, which would have to be included in a rigorous axiomatic treatment. However, the steps that had to be omitted (with due warning) can easily be filled in by the methods of abstract algebra, which do not conflict with the 'naive' attitude adopted here. I should like to thank my friend and colleague Dr. J. A. Green for a number of valuable suggestions, especially in connection with the chapter on convergence, which is a sequel to his volume Sequences and Series in this Library.

Compact Overhead Line Design AC and DC Lines
Free Download Compact Overhead Line Design: AC and DC Lines by Rob Stephen, Javier Iglesias
English | PDF EPUB (True) | 2024 | 304 Pages | ISBN : 3031445236 | 128 MB
This Green Book provides the design engineer with an understanding of the electrical parameters and methods required in designing compact AC and DC lines. Compact AC and DC lines are becoming increasingly necessary due to the limitation of right of way access and the need to upgrade power transfer in existing, narrower line corridors. Another requirement for compact AC lines is the lower impedance permitting increased power flow.

Community Science in Ecology Case Studies of Public Participation in Ecological Research in Japan
Free Download Community Science in Ecology: Case Studies of Public Participation in Ecological Research in Japan by Yukari Suzuki-Ohno
English | PDF EPUB (True) | 2024 | 217 Pages | ISBN : 9819703034 | 52.5 MB
This book introduces community science (or citizen science) projects in Japan with a focus on ecology. Environments and ecosystems that have been slowly built up over time are changing and collapsing dramatically. In this rapidly changing environment, ecologists need to collaborate with volunteers in their research and activities to investigate and conserve a vast area. This book aims to guide ecologists in the practice of community science. The authors, who are leading ecologists and practitioners of community science projects, share their methods and lessons learned from practice.
