Scientific Soapmaking The Chemistry of the Cold Process
Free Download Kevin M Dunn, "Scientific Soapmaking: The Chemistry of the Cold Process"
English | ISBN: 1935652095 | 2010 | 431 pages | EPUB | 3 MB
Until now, there were just two kinds of books on soapmaking. Books for the commodity soap industry emphasized the economical production of soap by the ton and were written for those with a background in chemistry and chemical engineering. Books for the emerging craft industry emphasized the production of high-quality soap by the pound and were aimed at those familiar with the format of cookbooks. Makers of handcrafted soap often wish they had paid more attention in chemistry class so that the information of the commodity soap books would be accessible to them. Scientific Soapmaking answers that call by bridging the gap between the technical and craft literatures. It explains the chemistry of fats, oils, and soaps, and it teaches sophisticated analytical techniques that can be carried out using equipment and materials familiar to makers of handcrafted soap. Presented in a college textbook format, Scientific Soapmaking guides students and individual soapmakers alike to formulate questions about soap and design experiments to answer those questions scientifically.

Scientific Research In World War II What scientists did in the war
Free Download Scientific Research In World War II: What scientists did in the war By Ad Maas, Hans Hooijmaijers
2009 | 256 Pages | ISBN: 0710313403 | PDF | 4 MB
This book seeks to explore how scientists across a number of countries managed to cope with the challenging circumstances created by World War II. No scientist remained unaffected by the outbreak of WWII. As the book shows, there were basically two opposite ways in which the war encroached on the life of a scientific researcher. In some cases, the outbreak of the war led to engagement in research in support of a war-waging country; in the other extreme, it resulted in their marginalisation. The book, starting with the most marginalised scientist and ending with those fully engaged in the war-effort, covers the whole spectrum of enormously varying scientific fates. Distinctive features of the volume include: a focus on the experiences of 'ordinary' scientists, rather than on figureheads like Oppenheimer or Otto Hahn contributions from a range of renowned academics including Mark Walker, an authority in the field of science in World War II a detailed study of the Netherlands during the German Occupation This richly illustrated volume will be of major interest to researchers of the history of science, World War II, and Modern History.

Science, Gender and the Exploitation of Animals in Britain Since 1945
Free Download Catherine Duxbury, "Science, Gender and the Exploitation of Animals in Britain Since 1945 "
English | ISBN: 1138617539 | 2021 | 224 pages | PDF | 12 MB
This book offers an historical analysis of the culture of animal-dependent science in Britain from 1945 to the present, exploring key areas of animal experimentation such as warfare, medical science and law from a gendered perspective. Questioning the nature of knowledge production in this area, and how animal experimentation intersects with broader cultural norms and values concerning sex, and gender, it examines the impact of contemporary forms of capitalism on animal dependent science, its historical trajectory and gendered configuration. With close attention to the broad social context from the creation of the Welfare State and the loss of Empire, to the emergence of neoliberalism in the 1980s and its present day omnipotent manifestation, the author asks how animal experimentation and the use of nonhuman animals in specific areas of science is gendered and has implications for women. Drawing on a variety of sociological, philosophical, feminist and historical theories and engaging with a wealth of primary and secondary materials of scientific research of the time,

Schädigungsmechanismen in faserverstärkten Kunststoffen Quasistatische und dynamische Untersuchungen
Free Download Marcus Schoßig, "Schädigungsmechanismen in faserverstärkten Kunststoffen: Quasistatische und dynamische Untersuchungen"
Deutsch | 2010 | pages: 188 | ISBN: 3834814830 | PDF | 15,4 mb
