Macho Ethics Masculinity and Self–Representation in Latino–Caribbean Narrative
Free Download Jason Cortés, "Macho Ethics: Masculinity and Self-Representation in Latino-Caribbean Narrative "
English | ISBN: 1611486378 | 2014 | 160 pages | EPUB | 7 MB
Masculinity is not a monolithic phenomenon, but a historically discontinuous one-a fabrication as it were, of given cultural circumstances. Because of its opacity and instability, masculinity, like more recognizable systems of oppression, resists discernibility. In Macho Ethics: Masculinity and Self-Representation in Latino-Caribbean Narrative, Jason Cortés seeks to reveal the inner workings of masculinity in the narrative prose of four major Caribbean authors: the Cuban Severo Sarduy; the Dominican American Junot Díaz; and the Puerto Ricans Luis Rafael Sánchez and Edgardo Rodríguez Juliá. By exploring the relationship between ethics and authority, the legacies of colonial violence, the figure of the dictator, the macho, and the dandy, the logic of the Archive, the presence of Oscar Wilde, and notions of trauma and mourning, Macho Ethics fills a gap surrounding issues of power and masculinity within the Caribbean context, and draws attention to what frequently remains invisible and unspoken.

Machine Guns and the Great War
Free Download Paul Cornish - Machine Guns and the Great War
Pen & Sword | 2009 | ISBN: 1848840470 | English | 216 pages | PDF | 119.97 MB
The machine-gun is one of the iconic weapons of the Great War - indeed of the twentieth century. Yet it is also one of the most misunderstood. During a four-year war that generated unprecedented casualties, the machine-gun stood out as a key weapon. In the process it took on an almost legendary status that persists to the present day. It shaped the tactics of the trenches, while simultaneously evolving in response to the tactical imperatives thrown up by this new form of warfare. Paul Cornish, in this authoritative and carefully considered study, reconsiders the history automatic firepower, and he describes in vivid detail its development during the First World War and the far-reaching consequences thereof. He dispels many myths and misconceptions that have grown up around automatic firearms, but also explores their potency as symbols and icons. His clear-sighted reassessment of the phenomenon of the machine-gun will be fascinating reading for students of military history and of the Great War in particular.

Machine Guns (WW2 Fact Files)
Free Download Peter Chamberlain, Terry Gander - Machine Guns (WW2 Fact Files)
Arco Publishing | 1974 | ISBN: 0668036087 | English | 68 pages | PDF | 71.98 MB
This book is part of the World War Two Fact Files series which dates back to the 1970s, which would look at various types of weapons (anti-aircraft guns, anti-tank weapons, light and medium field artillery, to name some other examples from the series) and give specifications, an illustration or two, and a short capsule history. As such, if you want a book to give you all you want to know about the MG42, for example, forget it - this will only give you a small entry. However, it will show you weapons that you may not otherwise have ever heard about. In the case of weapons that were used by the Germans after capture or the takeover of production facilities, they will give the German designation. In its own way, this is a useful basic guide book on the subject.

English | 2006 | pages: 176 | ISBN: 0497253518 | PDF | 1,2 mb
There are many editions of Macbeth. This educational edition was created for self-improvement or in preparation for advanced examinations. The bottom of each page is annotated with a mini-thesaurus of uncommon words highlighted in the text, including synonyms and antonyms. Designed for school districts, educators, and students seeking to maximize performance on standardized tests, Webster's paperbacks take advantage of the fact that classics are frequently assigned readings. A running thesaurus at the bottom of each page is useful to students who are actively building their vocabularies in anticipation of taking PSAT®, SAT®, AP® (Advanced Placement®), GRE®, LSAT®, GMAT® or similar examinations. This edition exposes the reader to a maximum number of "difficult, and often encountered" words in examinations.
