Fighter Country The F–14 Tomcats of NAS Oceana
Free Download Dave Parsons, Derek Nelson - Fighter Country: The F-14 Tomcats of NAS Oceana
Motorbooks International | 1992 | ISBN: 0879384425 | English | 168 pages | PDF | 131.1 MB
Fighter Country is a grand tribute to NAS Oceana, Virginia, and its Tomcats. Within are more than 190 full-color photos of F-14s and other aircraft from all of Oceana's fighter squadrons - on the base and on the boat in action around the world. It takes you through a year in the life of the Tomcat driver or radar intercept officer (RIO): study at the RAG, soaking up the lore of the fighter community in the officers' club, air combat maneuverings, carrier qualifications, workups, deployment on a cruise, and into combat during Operation Desert Storm. Fighter Country is also the first-ever history of Oceana and of each of the fleet fighter squadrons currently stationed there: the VF-14 Tophatters, VF-32 Swordsmen, VF-33 Starfighters, VF-41 Black Aces, VF-74 De-Devilers, VF-84 Jolly Rogers, VF-102 Diamondbacks, VF-103 Sluggers, VF-142 Ghostriders, and VF-143 Pukin' Dogs. Also included are the VF-101 Grim Reapers (the F-14 RAG), the VF-43 Challengers (Oceana's resident bandits), and the VF-11 Red Rippers and VF-31 Tomcatters (squadrons that transferred to NAS Miramar in early 1992). The base and squadron histories are brought to life by dozens of color and black-and-white historical photos showing most of the great US Navy fighters of the past in the colorful and unique markings of these squadrons.

Fight Everything You Ever Wanted to Know About Ass–Kicking but Were Afraid You'd Get Your Ass Kicked for Asking
Free Download Fight: Everything You Ever Wanted to Know About Ass-Kicking but Were Afraid You'd Get Your Ass Kicked for Asking By Eugene S. Robinson
2007 | 224 Pages | ISBN: 0061189227 | EPUB | 22 MB
Crushing your enemies, driving them before you, and hearing the lamentations of their women? It doesn't get any better than this." -Eugene Robinson, ripping off John Milius That's the sentiment that surges just below the surface of Eugene Robinson's Fight - an engrossing, intimate look into the all-absorbing world of fighting. Robinson - a former body-builder, one-time bouncer, and lifelong fight connoisseur - takes readers on a no-holds-barred plunge into what fighting is all about, and what fighters live for. If George Plimpton had muscles and had been choked out one too many times--this is the book he could have written. When Robinson and his fellow fighters mix it up, they live completely for the moment: absorbed in the feel of muscles slippery with sweat; the metallic tang of blood mingling with saliva in the mouth; the sweet, firm thud of taped knuckles impacting flesh. They fight because it feels good. They fight because they want to win. And even if they get their asses kicked, they fight because they love fighting. Fight is part encyclopedia, part panegyric to fighting in all its forms and glory. Robinson's narrative - told in his trademark tough-guy, stream-of-consciousness noir voice - punctuates this explanatory compendium of the fighting world. From wrestling, jiu-jitsu, boxing and muay thai to bar fighting, hand-to-hand combat, prison fighting and hockey fights, from the greatest movie fight scenes to how to throw the perfect left hook, Fight is a scene-by-scene tour of the bloody but beautiful underworld that is the art of fighting. With his aficionado's enthusiasm and fast-paced, addictive voice, Robinson's Fight combines compelling text with beautiful photographs to create an illustrated book as edgy and interesting as it is gorgeous.

Fidel Hollywood's Favorite Tyrant
Free Download Humberto Fontova, "Fidel: Hollywood's Favorite Tyrant"
English | 2005 | pages: 237 | ISBN: 0895260433 | PDF | 1,4 mb
"Cuba's own Elvis"-that's what Dan Rather calls him. Funny name for a man who has threatened the United States with nuclear war, who has made common cause with Islamic terrorists against the United States, and whose people risk death to escape him. But there's a lot that Hollywood liberals and other Fidel Castro admirers would rather you didn't know about the dictator of Cuba-like how he imprisoned more people as a percentage of population than Hitler or Stalin; how Fidel's firing squads killed thousands of Cubans; how Fidel's subjects would rather inject themselves with AIDS than live under his tyranny. Drawing on a wealth of research-including interviews with former Castro regime officials, anti-Castro freedom fighters, and Castro's political prisoners-acclaimed author Humberto Fontova reveals the ugly face of the Castro regime. Along the way, he punctures some of the egregious myths about Cuba: · The Motorcycle Bore: The real Che Guevara-not the rebel rock star of T-shirt fame, but a battlefield incompetent, a puritan-Stalinist bore, and the man who sent thousands of innocent Cubans to the firing squads · Communist Economics 101: How Castro took Cuba from being a First World economy that had to turn away European emigrants to a country that even impoverished Haitians won't emigrate to, with among the highest suicide and abortion rates in the world · The Saddam Hussein Next Door: How Castro has not only had nuclear weapons (and wanted to launch them) but has Descriptionted massive terrorist outrages against the United States · Fidel the anti-black racist and unrepentant Communist-and his long list of useful idiots: from Jesse Jackson to Oliver Stone, George McGovern to Ted Turner, Bill Clinton to Steven Spielberg, to Katie Couric and many others · The Left's favorite racism: against conservative Cuban-Americans

Fictive Kinship Family Reunification and the Meaning of Race and Nation in American Immigration
Free Download Catherine Lee, "Fictive Kinship: Family Reunification and the Meaning of Race and Nation in American Immigration"
English | ISBN: 0871544946 | 2013 | 200 pages | PDF | 1515 KB
Today, roughly 70 percent of all visas for legal immigration are reserved for family members of permanent residents or American citizens. Family reunification―policies that seek to preserve family unity during or following migration―is a central pillar of current immigration law, but it has existed in some form in American statutes since at least the mid-nineteenth century. In Fictive Kinship, sociologist Catherine Lee delves into the fascinating history of family reunification to examine how and why our conceptions of family have shaped immigration, the meaning of race, and the way we see ourselves as a country. Drawing from a rich set of archival sources, Fictive Kinship shows that even the most draconian anti-immigrant laws, such as the Chinese Exclusion Act of 1882, contained provisions for family unity, albeit for a limited class of immigrants. Arguments for uniting families separated by World War II and the Korean War also shaped immigration debates and the policies that led to the landmark 1965 Immigration Act. Lee argues that debating the contours of family offers a ready set of symbols and meanings to frame national identity and to define who counts as "one of us." Talk about family, however, does not inevitably lead to more liberal immigration policies. Welfare reform in the 1990s, for example, placed limits on benefits for immigrant families, and recent debates over the children of undocumented immigrants fanned petitions to rescind birthright citizenship. Fictive Kinship shows that the centrality of family unity in the immigration discourse often limits the discussion about the goals, functions and roles of immigration and prevents a broader definition of American identity. Too often, studies of immigration policy focus on individuals or particular ethnic or racial groups. With its original and wide-ranging inquiry, Fictive Kinship shifts the analysis in immigration studies toward the family, a largely unrecognized but critical component in the regulation of immigrants' experience in America.

Fictions of Finance at the End of an American Century Punctuating Capital
Free Download Prof Richard Godden, "Fictions of Finance at the End of an American Century: Punctuating Capital "
English | ISBN: 019286775X | 2023 | 288 pages | PDF | 3 MB
Fictions of Finance at the End of an American Century explores how an economy determines the language of those who live among its imperatives-and how it makes available to them the stories that they can and cannot tell, and the manner of their telling. Read closely, fictional narrative may expose the historical structures that determine literary language use, and that of language more generally. The study, the fourth in a quartet of studies addressing the emergence and decline of a Fordist regime of capitalist accumulation, offers an account of 'the sub-semantic whispering' that haunts the literature of the financial turn-which is to say, an account of how the complexities of words and their histories register an expanding industrial economy's organizing contradictions and failures. Reading in the light of deindustrialization and the rise of US finance capital after 1973, it deploys and elaborates on a materialist theory of language that explains how syntactic as well as semantic structures register a financializing economy's core contradictions, those associated particularly with debt, risk, and volatility. The volume listens for the under-heard syntactical breaks that punctuate language under the global hegemony of finance, breaks that express the unuttered in all utterance, taking as its exemplary texts primarily works by Bret Easton Ellis, Jayne Anne Phillips, and David Foster Wallace.

Ferroptosis in Health and Disease
Free Download Daolin Tang, "Ferroptosis in Health and Disease"
English | 2019 | pages: 320 | ISBN: 3030267792, 3030267822 | PDF | 7,4 mb
This book sheds new light on ferroptosis, as an only recently recognised form of regulated cell death. Its respective chapters address the numerous implications that ferroptosis can have for virtually all aspects of metabolism. They also share insights on the morphological characterisation of ferroptosis and highlight the different pathways of induction. Accordingly, the book offers a unique perspective on a mechanism that is involved in a multitude of pathologies, including cancer cell death, neurotoxicity, neurodegenerative diseases, acute renal failure, drug-induced hepatotoxicity, tissue ischemia/reperfusion injury, and T cell immunity.
