Free Download Separation Anxiety in Adulthood: How to Address it in Clinical Practice by Stefano Pini, Barbara Milrod English | November 24, 2023 | ISBN: 3031374452 | 125 pages | MOBI | 1.10 Mb This book presents data that challenges the long-established view that separation anxiety disorder should be reserved for diagnosis among children and adolescents by demonstrating that adult-onset is prevalent in many countries and that adult-onset separation anxiety disorder is just as persistent and impairing as the pediatric-onset form. Separation anxiety disorder in adulthood is associated with high levels of disability. Research and clinical data indicate that overlooking the diagnosis of adult separation anxiety disorder may result in substantial costs in the form of disability and suffering. Free Download Rachel Larkin, "Separated Migrant Young Women in State Care: Living in Contested Spaces " English | ISBN: 3031151828 | 2022 | 227 pages | PDF | 4 MB This book considers the responses of states to migrant girls who are separated from family and enter state care systems as unaccompanied or trafficked young people. The book draws on research with girls and social work practitioners in the UK to explore what can happen when separated girls encounter professionals at borders and within care systems. It considers how separated girls adapt to different ideas of what it means to be a girl in destination countries, and how this is affected by their other intersecting identities. The book identifies how girls can feel welcomed, but also how young migrants can be seen in excluding ways. It argues that narratives of the fragile 'refugee child' are unhelpful ways to understand individual girls. Using theories and clear language relevant to both academics and practitioners, the author fills a gap in the research on migrant and trafficked young women who frequently represent the minority in care systems globally. Free Download Ivan Moscovich, "Sensational Shape Problems & Other Puzzles " English | ISBN: 1402723474 | 2005 | 128 pages | PDF | 7 MB Avid puzzle mavens will spend hours slicing and dicing these wildly-hued brainbusters. That's because so many of the problems deal with dissecting geometric shapes-polygons, hexagons, squares, even a chessboard-into congruent parts or figuring out how the split parts would fit back together again. For example, to complete "Exploding Star," solvers have to copy the star in the book, cut it carefully into 12 colored pieces, and then rearrange them into four identical replicas of the big star. But this tough but fascinating collection has lots more to offer: there are tangram paradoxes that offer a new spin on the ancient Chinese game, mathematical conundrums dealing with weight and gravity, Egyptian rope puzzles, and host of other complex challenges. The service started at 11 am. Lord Hay had read the first lesson, and the Te Deum was about to begin, when the noise of a V1 was heard. The engine cut out. There was a brief silence, an intensive blue flash and an explosion and the roof collapsed, burying the congregation in ten feet of rubble. This was the most deadly V1 attack of the Second World War, and Jan Gores painstakingly researched, graphic and moving account of the bombing and the aftermath tells the whole story. In vivid detail she describes the rescue effort which went on, day and night, for two days, and she records the names, circumstances and lives of each of the victims, and explains why they happened to be there. Her minutely detailed reconstruction of this tragic episode in the V1 campaign against London commemorates the dead and wounded, and it gives us today an absorbing insight into the wartime experience of all those whose lives were affected by it. Free Download Robert Yelle, "Semiotics of Religion: Signs of the Sacred in History " English | ISBN: 1441142827 | 2012 | 224 pages | AZW3 | 834 KB Following the heyday of Lévi-Straussian structuralism in the 1970s-80s, little attention has been paid by scholars of religion to semiotics. Semiotics of Religion reassesses key semiotic theories in the light of religious data. Yelle examines the semiotics of religion from structural and historical perspectives, drawing on Peircean linguistic anthropology, Jakobsonian poetics, comparative religion and several theological traditions. This book pays particular attention to the transformation of religious symbolism under modernization and the rise of a culture of the printed book. Among the topics addressed are: Free Download Jie Tang, "Semantic Mining of Social Networks " English | ISBN: 1608458571 | 2015 | 193 pages | PDF | 10 MB Online social networks have already become a bridge connecting our physical daily life with the (web-based) information space. This connection produces a huge volume of data, not only about the information itself, but also about user behavior. The ubiquity of the social Web and the wealth of social data offer us unprecedented opportunities for studying the interaction patterns among users so as to understand the dynamic mechanisms underlying different networks, something that was previously difficult to explore due to the lack of available data. In this book, we present the architecture of the research for social network mining, from a microscopic point of view. We focus on investigating several key issues in social networks. Specifically, we begin with analytics of social interactions between users. The first kinds of questions we try to answer are: What are the fundamental factors that form the different categories of social ties? How have reciprocal relationships been developed from parasocial relationships? How do connected users further form groups? Another theme addressed in this book is the study of social influence. Social influence occurs when one's opinions, emotions, or behaviors are affected by others, intentionally or unintentionally. Considerable research has been conducted to verify the existence of social influence in various networks. However, few literature studies address how to quantify the strength of influence between users from different aspects. In Chapter 4 and in [138], we have studied how to model and predict user behaviors. One fundamental problem is distinguishing the effects of different social factors such as social influence, homophily, and individual's characteristics. We introduce a probabilistic model to address this problem. Finally, we use an academic social network, ArnetMiner, as an example to demonstrate how we apply the introduced technologies for mining real social networks. In this system, we try to mine knowledge from both the informative (publication) network and the social (collaboration) network, and to understand the interaction mechanisms between the two networks. The system has been in operation since 2006 and has already attracted millions of users from more than 220 countries/regions.
